Review: Great Quality Product & Does The Job - I had to buy new Fiskar Pruning Shears as mine finally died after fifteen+ years of use (and thats just my use). They were my dad’s prior to me having them and they were quite old (my dad didn’t getvrid of things) and he took great care of them, prior to giving them to me. I love the Fiskar’s brand as they’re exceptionally made and don’t cost an arm and a leg. If you take care of the shears, and yes even with frequent use, they’ll last many years and do a spectacular job pruning bushes, shrubs and limbs from trees, etc. I prune everything from succulents, Pygmy Palms, limbs from our Crepe Myrtle Tree, etc (these shears are amazing)! I love these shears as the grip is solid in my hand, it’s got an easy locking and unlocking mechanism, it’s a perfect fit in one’s hand and they cut the first time when you go to trim a plant, limb, shrub, etc (they’re quite sharp and strong), allowing one to trim things in your yard. I’m a firm believer that tools, etc should be store out of the sun and the elements to preserve the life of the items. I have a Garden Cart with a bucket inside it that I store my gloves, Fiskar’s Shears, along with my other gardening/yard tools. When I’m not gardening I store the Garden Cart with all my gardening tools in our Tuff Shed keeping all my treasured yard tools out of the elements so they’ll last for many years.

**Q: Silly question but what is the difference between bypass pruners and those not labeled "bypass"... I see mixed results on Amazon and Fiskar.**
A: by-pass are for clean cuts on live plants, anvil used on dead limb pruning

**Q: Is this item made in USA?**
A: Amazon's product description (as of 2014/11) now states: "The 9109 Bypass Pruner is made in China." Along with: "Fiskars is a global company with manufacturing locations all over the world, including several places in the US. Many of Fiskars' blades are stainless steel. The blade on the 9109 is a coated, high carbon steel blade." Seems like this model has seen significant cost-cutting over the years, maybe too much...

**Q: How thick the branches you can cut?**
A: You can cut over an inch diameter my rotating the cutter with open jaws around the branch. The sharp cutting blade will slice through the branch.

**Q: I would like these shears for cutting the hard dorsal, pectoral and tail fins off of fresh whole fish like salmon, bass, trout etc? will it work well?**
A: I would say it will work on some fish. Smaller fish such as bass and trout should work well but large fish with tougher fins might be a struggle. Also, these aren't stainless steel so rust could be a problem.

I had to buy new Fiskar Pruning Shears as mine finally died after fifteen+ years of use (and thats just my use). They were my dad’s prior to me having them and they were quite old (my dad didn’t getvrid of things) and he took great care of them, prior to giving them to me. I love the Fiskar’s brand as they’re exceptionally made and don’t cost an arm and a leg. If you take care of the shears, and yes even with frequent use, they’ll last many years and do a spectacular job pruning bushes, shrubs and limbs from trees, etc. I prune everything from succulents, Pygmy Palms, limbs from our Crepe Myrtle Tree, etc (these shears are amazing)! Good brand overall, and these shears seem like just what I wanted. They are SHARP. Blade is great to cut garden plants. The handles are easy on my hands. Would buy more when needed. Very good price for this quality.
