Rachel Ignotofsky is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator. She is the author of Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World, The Wondrous Workings of Planet Earth, and A Little Book of Light. Her books have been translated into over twenty languages and have sold over one million copies worldwide. Ignotofsky was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City. She received her BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2009. After graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion design. After working in the industry for a few years, she decided to pursue her true passion – illustration and writing. Ignotofsky’s work is all about celebrating science, nature, and women’s history. She has a true passion for making complex subjects accessible and interesting for everyone. Her books are both educational and entertaining, and they have inspired readers of all ages to pursue their interests in science and nature.
