HR metrics and organizational people-related data are an invaluable source of information from which to identify trends and patterns in order to make effective business decisions. But HR practitioners often lack the statistical and analytical know-how to fully harness the potential of this data. Predictive HR Analytics provides a clear, accessible framework for understanding and working with people analytics and advanced statistical techniques. Using the statistical package SPSS (with R syntax included), it takes readers step by step through worked examples, showing them how to carry out and interpret analyses of HR data in areas such as employee engagement, performance and turnover. Readers are shown how to use the results to enable them to develop effective evidence-based HR strategies. This second edition has been updated to include the latest material on machine learning, biased algorithms, data protection and GDPR considerations, a new example using survival analyses, and up-to-the-minute screenshots and examples with SPSS version 25. It is supported by a new appendix showing main R coding, and online resources consisting of SPSS and Excel data sets and R syntax with worked case study examples. A good idea, but a bad book
First, there are many, many grammatical and statistical errors that frustrate knowledgeable readers, but more importantly many of the analyses themselves are superficial, assume "causes" that are unfounded, both statistically and logically, and are paired w/ bad explanations that, again, frustrate knowledgeable readers. Anyway, I will still use this book, but as a professor, it must be used very carefully - i.e., I am providing additional explanations, both statistical, logical, and ethical, that provide my students w/ a more realistic view of the world from an HR/analytics perspective.

Genial

In general an interesting book
In general it is a very interesting book as an introduction to HR analytics. It incorporates a lot of examples some of which are very useful. Some other were not as useful on my point of view. The book provides complete case studies in different fields with extensive explanations from a statistical point of view. I would have been more happy if the book dedicated a greater share to recruitment analytics or provided better explanations about the practical implications of the statistical results extracted alongside with examples of specific proposals. It is true that the book does already have a chapter responding to the "so what?" question but I think that it could be more extensive. In terms of organization instead of having a separate chapter at the end of the book answering the "so what question" a special appendix could be included in each chapter.

Bad beginner book
Overall, I would say this is a bad beginner book. As other professors noted, the statistics and overall quality is not good. The book is mostly SPSS screenshots. It was too much work to get the data sets for my taste. I think this is what beginners might expect, and without a background in statistics they could be even happy with this book. On the upside, the book could be worse. I would give it 1.25 stars.
