Does this work with Insteon?

Because most Insteon devices use 2 communication paths, this device is largely unnecessary. The command is not only sent over the powerline, but also over a wireless link between devices. I have found that this redundancy makes Insteon systems considerably more reliable than any of the others out there. It also makes many of the modules more expensive. I have some devices that are way too far away to be reached by a wireless signal, but the commands get there just fine over the powerline. There are other modules, where transformers or other impediments prevent the powerline control signal from reaching a given module. In this case the wireless command activates the commands. The fact that Insteon communicate in both directions, makes it possible to inform the controller when a signal has not been received or the command carried out by the receiving module. On some modules, if there is no load connected to it, it will send back a failure signal to the controller even though the control signal was received correctly by the module. This two-way capability also greatly improves the control reliability.
