Arctic MX-4 (20g) Review: The Old Reliable That Never Fails
Here’s a practical, real-world review of the 20-gram tube of Arctic MX-4. It’s written with a natural, no-nonsense tone—like a seasoned builder sharing their experience on a forum or tech blog. Arctic MX-4 (20g) Review: The Old Reliable That Never Fails If you’ve spent any time building PCs or repasting old hardware, you already know about Arctic MX-4. It’s been a staple in the community for years, and honestly, there is a very good reason why people keep coming back to it. I recently grabbed the big 20g tube for a batch of system overhauls, and it reminded me why this stuff is so popular. Application & Consistency The absolute best thing about MX-4 is how easy it is to work with. It has the perfect consistency—not too thick, not too watery. It spreads smoothly under the pressure of the cooler, so whether you’re a fan of the pea-dot method, the "X," or spreading it manually with a spatula, it’s incredibly forgiving. It’s also completely non-conductive and non-capacitive, meaning if you accidentally mess up and spill a little on the motherboard components, you won’t short-circuit your system. It’s totally idiot-proof. Thermal Performance Is it the absolute highest-performing paste on the market today? No. Newer, pricier options might beat it by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. But for 95% of builds—from mid-range gaming rigs to older console repastes—MX-4 is excellent. It dropped the load temps on my hot-running CPU by about 7°C compared to the dried-out stock paste, and it keeps things perfectly stable. Plus, it has zero cure time, so you get optimal performance the second you boot up the PC. Longevity Arctic claims this stuff lasts up to 8 years once applied. While I usually open up my main rig before that anyway, I’ve pulled apart older office PCs that I pasted with MX-4 five years ago, and the paste was still moist and performing great. You truly can just apply it and forget it. Why the 20g Tube? Buying the 20g tube is pure value. If you’re only building one PC, just stick to the small 4g version. But if you run a small repair shop, have a ton of consoles to refurbish, or just maintain multiple rigs for family and friends, the 20g size is a massive money-saver. The syringe seals up tightly, so it won’t dry out in your toolbox while waiting for the next project. The Verdict Arctic MX-4 isn't flashy, but it is the definition of a workhorse. It offers a perfect balance of easy application, solid thermal drops, long lifespan, and unmatched value. If you want a hassle-free paste that gets the job done right every single time, this is it.

Give it a go youll be happy $ and quality
You can buy this with confidence they make a high end paste and at the end of the day its a dang good deal. While originally I had wanted to test out the MX-6 thermal paste from them, their step up paste from this. It didn't have the option for a 20g tube. As I've used this i the past I knew it would be better than what was needed and I would be able to get a bunch of laptops and desktops repaired and replaced with fresh paste and clean fans to get them back out in the world. Arctic has yet to fail and this tube is no different! For anyone who needs a larger amount of paste this high quality thermal paste with a noticeable drop in PCs that are 5-10 years old CPU and any GPU related chips that use pastes or thermal pads. Not overly viscous pretty thick compared to other brands, corsairs for instance is a lot more runny

Arctic for the rescue again
Arctic comes in for the rescue again love this and I love how they make it any 20g syringes now my CPU temperature and Apu temperatures on my PC and PS4 and switch are all well under what they were operating at before my CPUs running about 45° c which before it was running about 55 degrees Celsius and that's at idle and stays around 70 degrees Celsius when playing very intensive games and the temperature of the CPU I've noticed is a lot more consistent now I've used Arctic thermal paste for the last 10 years and it's never let me down I use the spread method not the dot or x method as I find this works the best for me in a little bit goes a long way so definitely recommend to anybody amateur or professional and it's pretty thick thermal paste not going to lie I had to use a spreading tool to get an even spread of the thermal paste on my CPU but that's a good thing and I would imagine if you just did the dot method or x method of applying this it would work just as good this is just what I did

This is all you need...
Been using this stuff forever and it's never let me down. Formally trained avionics professional with over 40 years' experience...trust me. This is all you need. Thermal compounds by and large generally work about the same... but the reason I choose this product above others is that it doesn't cure for 8 years. And I've done enough builds over the past four decades to know it absolutely lives up to the claim. In order to work, heat sink compound needs to be 'wet', that is, to have some moisture content. Once it gets dry and powdery, it does almost no good at all (in fact, you'd be better off if you mated surfaces directly, because the dried up compound limits surface area contact. This compound doesn't cure (dry out) for a very long time. That's why it works, and that's why I prefer and recommend it.
