I enjoyed my first taste of Yerba Mate in my new El Matero Jujube wood mate gourd. It is well made and easy to clean. The bomblilla works well. The Jujube wood is very attractive. I will buy another one for sure.

Unbelievable! I got the mates (2) yesterday (August 22, 2019) . Followed YOUR instructions, left one of the them overnight and next morning I found it completely cracked from top to bottom. What should I do? dispose of it? return it? I don't want to keep them even if one was unused. I want my money back!!!Clean your mate gourd with warm water.2. Fill it with moisten used yerba and add warm water.3. Leave overnight, remove yerba and clean.4. Add a thin layer of vegetable oil or butter to seal its pores and extend its life.

From my husband:This is a beautiful gourd! You can tell that the craftsman has a passion for the work! It’s sealed watertight and hasn’t had any problems with hot water. No warping or discoloration. I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve had on it at work! Granted, some of these comments have also included:“Oh, you’re having spit tea again.”“What is that?!”“Is that weed?!”“I see that you’re enjoying your drinkable weed again.”“Nice cup!”“Nice gourd!” (From a fellow mate drinker)

I love gourds for my mate, but I understand they are difficult to keep clean and they do not usually last very long. This one is an excellent substitute if you don't want to fight mold away. I forgot to empty my mate once, and it was full of leaves for about three days. No mold or smell, I cleaned it in a few seconds, and it was ready to go.

This was a gift for my daughter and she really liked it. El Matero was very proactive and sent a message on arrival making sure the mate arrived in good condition. Then there was a follow up message making sure I was satisfied. My daughter really likes it because it is easier to lean than her old mate. I will probably order one for myself soon.

I've had it for almost a month now. I was using it a lot in the beginning but now I'm taking a break, too much Mate hahaIt's a little delicate, I was trying to wash it gently but even so it peeled off a bit on one side. It's not a lot, but I can assume that with use it will peel a lot more :/Still happy with the purchase though. Keep in mind it can peel easily after daily use.

I've agonized over choice of a Mate. This is it! Look no further. It's gorgeous!I want another for the office.Update Oct 2021: I don’t really like how it manages heat. Tea is either too hot to sip and thereafter too cool for a cup of hot tea. I find i only use it when I have the time even though i drink yerba mate every day because tea gets cold too quickly on thisPlus, I accidentally dropped it and it cracked near the rim. Now i know why original gourds have a surrounding metal trimming around the rim. I’m going to have to throw it out and buy something else. A shame, it cost me more than $20 dollars

I love it! Especially the carrying cases. The bombilla (straw) is great, as you don't end up sucking leaves into your mouth. It looks great too.I think there should be instructions to only hand wash included. You'd think that was common sense, but a friend who was helping with the dishes, chucked it in the dishwasher! 🙀 luckily, it was rescued. But, including those instructions (hand wash only) is the only thing I would change.
