Can they be used for sinks?

Question is unclear. The dye is a blue powder compressed into a pill. You place the pill in the liquid in the ‘source’ (i.e. toilet tank) and see if it leaks into the ‘test area’ (ie toilet bowl). If you see blue die in the bowl without flushing, then there is a leak from the tank to the bowl. If the area to be tested for the source of a leak is say under a kitchen sink that has multiple other leak sources (water purification, hot & cold inflow, dishwasher etc) then after drying the area to be tested under the sink, turn off all other sources of water and place the blue dye into one sink and see if any blue dye shows up under the sink, then you have your answer.

Can you use them outside to trace water from under a slab?

Hi Catherine, This tablets are designed to work best with toilets, so they may not be ideal for a slab, which, if we understand your situation correctly, involves more water. They may work but we don't think they'd be ideal for this application. We offer another product, marine dye tablets, that are better with larger volumes of water. http://www.amazon.com/Holding-Fluorescent-Detecting-Tablets-Standard/dp/B00545B2RG

Will these tablets work for a Septic dye test to show any leakage in the septic?

I do not think these are strong enough for that. I use these in the toilet to make sure the water does not leak into bowl. It test for phantom flushing.

Yes. It's made of food coloring and salt.
