Outlander Season 4

Watched Season 1 episode Sassenach out of complete boredom one day on Netfix. I was hooked! Outlander ranks at the top of TV series shows for me. It's like 24 in that way. Action, suspense, great characters who you can't help but love or hate! The story from the beginning has been an adventure. It is definitely for a mature audience! You gotta crave fictional romance and love! I'm in love with Jamie and Claire's love story ... if only real men treated women like that, lol! I'm reviewing Season 4 but I bought the blu rays for all 4 completed seasons, and I watched them all in their entirety. I have not had any issues with the discs, as others have reported. I also got the digital copy with every season, which was a pleasant surprise. That said, I highly recommend Outlander. It will make you laugh, cringe, cry and crave a lover ... unless there's something seriously wrong with you! Happy to stack these discs on my shelf!

I truly hate that this review is turning into a hate fest for season 4. I personally watch the show for entertainment and found it entertaining and enjoyable. I also think that it has set us up for a very interesting season 5. One problem that I have had so far (I'm only on disc 2) is on disc 1. After the credits have run for episode 1 and before the opening of episode 2 there is a clip of how Ian won Rollo. Rollo actually alerted them to the intruders at the end of episode one so I was a little confused about why it was inserted where it is---it seems like it should have been part of episode one. I’m not sure if this was purposefully done or if it is an error in the making of the disc or perhaps it is just my disc. Has anyone else noticed this? The more I watch, the more I think it was intentional but I am not sure as to why. Post note—-I watched all discs and learned that these little inserts were additional content (deleted scenes that help build the story). I do love this show and can’t wait for season 5!!

Best show on television, hands down. Other than the incredible acting, the music is genius, the clothing is handsewn and researched to the times. The other genius is the set creator. Every detail is perfect. This is the first season I've noticed a little bit of greenscreen. All other seasons are filmed in incredible locations. This is no GOT where everything is digitally created. This is real and true and tells Diana Gabaldon's stories beautifully. I would recommend all 4 seasons. They are an excellent investment with lots of special features, podcasts and deleted scenes. And when you see and hear Sam Heughan speak in his normal voice in specials features, you won't believe he's the same person that plays Jamie.

Season 4 is the continuing story of Claire & Jamie Fraser as they make their home in the North Carolina mountains in the 1770’s. Based on the Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. This screen adaptation perhaps is not quite as well written as previous seasons but I gave it 5 stars for the brilliant acting of Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser & Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser as well as outstanding favorites John Bell as young Ian, Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall & Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield plus the surprise return of a couple of actors/ characters from previous seasons. There are also several new outstanding actors portraying great new characters. The cinematography and scenic vistas of Scotland doubling as the NC mountains are very good as well. All in all this is a great addition to your video library especially if you are an Outlander fan.

Good product quality. Happy with all the "extras/bonus" features as well as the music CD. The code for digital version works at Sony Movies and also at Vudu. Excerpt from "Go tell the bees that I am gone" is included (chapter named "Hunting" -9 pages, big print, so probably about 2 pages from the actual book-). There's also a discount coupon from the official Outlander store. The packaging of this collector's edition is smaller than the one for season 1, but it "seems" bigger than the one I got from season 3 (just because it includes the music CD, but they are the same size and design). It has definitely fulfilled my expectations. P.S.: for those saying "awful season, not worth buying, etc., etc.", please learn the difference between an "opinion" vs a "product review". Your personal opinions about a product that you haven't bought aren't helpful for people with actual buying intentions.

By far my favorite season of the collector's editions. I love the little cloth pull tab to lift the case out. The fact that it includes the soundtrack this time was a nice surprise. The case is sturdy and discs were in perfect condition. Inside the disc case the discs are in snap in plastic trays 1 for each with 2 in front and 3 in the back. In the middle is the connected book with glossy pictures of season and behind the scenes, as well as what is on each disc. Included in the box is a excerpt of diana gabaldon's next book that will be coming out and a Sony code for the season, which I believe Sony has closed their site? Overall a great set and worth the purchase if you are a fellow Outlander lover.

This series continues to be produced, acted, costumed and set by a standard far higher than most movies and drama available today. The only critical comment might be that the sequence of events seems to roll too quickly, but, let's face it, there's a lot happening in Gabaldon's saga and there is a time constraint for televised programming. The producers do a fantastic job of pulling together the most significant parts of the story. It is beautifully done. The death scene of the Indian maid and her lover was most horrifying yet sympathetic and moving with a musical score that epitomized the solemnity and sorrow felt by everyone present.

Welcome here an exceptionally well stocked box set. Thirteen episodes of 50+ minutes. Commentaries on each. Not only a generous collection of bonus features, but four extra scenes especially created for DVD. (These give an extra dimension to certain subsidiary characters who had so impressed the makers. All four work out extremely well, "Tea for Two" a particular delight.) It is over twenty years since the adventures of Claire and Jamie began, the two now convincingly aged. In North Carolina, Jamie has purchased ten thousand acres of land - setting for a home built by themselves, crops hopefully to render them self-sufficient, the aim in due course to be surrounded by tenant farmers similarly inclined. Much is to happen, including encounters with Cherokees and Mohawks (their traditions and ways of life interestingly depicted). From 1970, Claire's daughter Brianna and her suitor, historian Roger, separately come seeking - both have discovered an archive newspaper article with grim news indeed about her parents.... Although greatly enjoyed, Season 4 proves somewhat uneven. Arguably it is at its best when concentrated on Claire and Jamie (Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan as ever excellent). Also with impact are those playing blind Aunt Jocasta, Murtagh, and infectiously enthusiastic young Ian (complete with hound Rollo). Working less well are some of the sequences concerning Brianna and Roger. How they arrive from the future seems rather loosely contrived, as do some of what happens when here. It takes a while to warm to Brianna, she at times intensely irritating - especially in her treatment of Roger. In fact it seems Roger who is destined this season to suffer most, he perhaps the one with whom many viewers will empathize most of all. (Full marks to Richard Rankin for his portrayal.) Much to applaud. An evocative recreation of the times (Scotland doubling for North Carolina), ominous hints of future major conflict. Unfair taxes are an invitation to rebellion, the stage set for America's War of Independence, this no doubt to dominate the next season. This is one of those shows where people so inclined may find much to ridicule. It is also one of those shows where others will find much to admire. Despite certain reservations, Season 4 well deserves these five stars.

Season 4 Outlander was awesome. It is full of a lot of new characters and old ones too which keeps it interesting all the way to the end. I would say that Season 4 is the best so far and Season 2 is second best. In Season 4, there is an extensive rape subplot. Also, there is a scene that pays homage to the movie PLATOON, complete with a tragic death scene in slow-motion, and the same hauntingly sad music from PLATOON. There is even a very brief simulated homosexual sex scene (oh dear!) this time around (Lord John Grey & Judge Alderdyce) just like near the end of Season 1 (Jamie & Capt Randall). Do we really need these homosexual storylines in Outlander??? Some of the best scenes of the Season revolve around the River Run Plantation and the owner who happens to be Jamie's Auntie Jocasta. At the end of Season 4, all the story line loose ends are tied and completed. Talk about happy endings!
