Bought the hitch safe over a decade ago, saved me countless times. Took about this long before the rubber cover started to dry rot. Ordered this replacement, fits great and have had it in use about a month. If you’re acquainted with the cover then you should know that it has a bottom that says “ this side down”. Follow that direction and it stays on perfectly tight. Accidentally ordered two but I’m keeping the other one. Totally happy with the purchase

I bought this to replace one that was probably 5 years old and had started to crack. The replacement works great, no issues at all.

I was in a motor vehicle accident where I was hit from behind (everyone was ok). Well, my hitch/hitch safe took most of the impact. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hitch safe was not damaged and that the hitch cover itself was a bit torn up but otherwise still functional. After the impact, the cover was a bit loose (still stayed on) and cracked, so I ordered a new one. I can vouch that the replacement is the same as the original and has a tight fit like the original. It looks exactly the same (I'm sure it is)! I'll also point out that when the hitch cover cracked I saw a metal frame inside the rubber so you know these things are built to last.

This is a great, clever little device. I think it would be very hard to break into it the way it is installed in the hitch, much harder than breaking into the car anyway. The rubber cap covers the end well but if your hitch is low like mine and hits ground coming out of a steep driveway or over a deep rut then it can get knocked off. I had to order a couple extra caps because I lost my first one somewhere. I might modify it with a pin of some kind to keep it on, but it would be nice if they did that already.

The purchased item is an integral component of the HitchSafe HS7010. It is also the only component that is easily lost from this novel security device on certain sloping terrains (my driveway, for example), where the tow-bar is rendered closer to the ground. In fact, this is the third end-cap I’ve had to replace on my vehicle in less than a year. I suspect I am not the only car/truck owner that’s had this problem.
