Question 1

What height rings do you need to run a 3-9x40

Accepted Answer

I can tell you right now that low rings do not give you enough elevation to clear the rear iron sight. I have not tried anything higher yet and am looking to see if anyone has tried med rings or if highs are needed.

Question 2

Would this fit on a Ruger American Predator rifle?

Accepted Answer

Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle was designed for specific scenarios in hunting situations. The factory rail system is extra long for the purpose of mounting a very special type of scope. This is for very long "EYE RELIEF" type scopes and would not be suitable on the American Predator, which has factory installed rail over the receiver.

Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle is drilled and tapped for mounting screws forward of the receiver. American predator, as seen on Ruger web page at the following:

https://ruger.com/products/americanRiflePredator/models.html

does not accommodate the XS Sight Systems RU-5000R-N Leverrail Ghost Ring WS.

https://ruger.com/products/scoutRifle/specSheets/6803.html

the above link shows Gunsite Scout (multiple views)!

I would not suggest XS Sight Systems RU-5000R-N Leverrail Ghost Ring WS for any application other than the intended design!

Question 3

What type of rail is this? It doesn't appear to be picatinny or weaver or dovetail. What type of rings have you used that worked for this rail?

Accepted Answer

I put this XS rail on my Ruger Gunsite Scout because the Ghost Ring Rear Site had a larger OEM. I had a much better site picture. Despite this, I still wanted a scope. So I put on a P.E.P.R. mount along with a Scope: XTR Burris 1 x 6.

Question 4

what is the the moa of the rail?

Accepted Answer

0 MOA or not the Ruger Scout in .308 is more than a 100yrd rifle with a good a good scope. I use a 1-7x24, and can get good hits out to 500yrdsm on a 12in gong, just use the hash marks in your scope if there there. The rear sight of this mount is designed for quick snap shots up close, +/- 50yards. Is a Ruger Scout a sub MOA, nope. But that why I have a Rem 700 in 308, they use the same ammo and mags.
