3.5 USB External Floppy Disk Drive Portable 1.44 MB FDD for PC Windows 98 ME 2000 XP Vista Windows 7 8 No Extra Driver Required Plug and Play Black

Very poor products

Good buy for the money. Works as expected. They include some workaround tips that were helpful. Remember, that 3.5 disk are not fast compared to today's standards. So take it slow. This device was perfect for recovering some data from back in the eary 90s.

I have been able to retrieve my old files from floppy's. Once I finish, I can chuck out all the old floppy's

Used this floppy disk reader Sunday Sep 13th 2026 and was amazing. Was truly plug and play and plugged into back of desktop computer as advised in letter from maker and found a lot of old pics and nostalgia print documents that could have been lost. Copied all the good ones to external hard drive I have and usb stick and so now have in three places. The pics I found on two of these old floppy discs were very precious family pics and pics of old original home in Orillia Ontario that has now been totally renovated. So definitely worth the 30.50 tax in i paid for it and may use again but who knows. Was worth the money this time. Robert W Martin Barrie Ontario Canada

This came super handy for retrieving and saving some old files that have been backed up to 'floppies' (the REAL floppies won't be read by this one, only the 3.4 inch 1.4MB rigid 'floppies') and were otherwise inaccessible. Granted, we're going to have a heck of a time trying to find out a way to open some of these files (Windows 10 does not seem to know how to open the old WPS files, for example, and I'm yet to find a good way to convert the files -- open to ideas if anyone has them!) - but this reader lists the files and allowed me to copy them onto my computer. It even let me rename some files (for some who had identical names) and to delete most files if I wanted to empty any of the floppies. It is a plug and go, and works with the sound (and speed ...) of old -- don't get upset if it takes a few minutes to 'recognize' and 'copy' files that can normally take 3 seconds ... -- they reader can only work with the speed that the floppy will tolerate ... It worked well right out of the box. A few floppies were corrupted or damaged or unreadable, but most were perfectly readable to this little gadget. Took me back a quarter century, it had! Now I have my old files -- readable or not -- on a thumbdrive that I can access easily from any device. Sorting through these will be the equivalent of going through dusty documents in attic boxes ... :) If you have some 'must check these out' floppies in your basement/garage/storage/college-stuff-box and you want to retrieve them, this is your gadget. Easy. Worked like a charm. The best thing was the look on the kids faces. :)

On occasions the Desk Top displays a message that the item was dismounted incorrectly even though no action was taken to disconnect the drive. A reconnection then takes place. This is disturbing. Ce rain discs take long to display its data even though there is just one file.
