Solid stud finder
Iโve used a few different stud finders over the years, and this one is easily the most accurate and easiest to use. What really sets it apart is how simple it is. Thereโs no calibration or guessing โ you just place it on the wall, press the button, and it instantly shows you exactly where the stud is. The LED display is a game changer because it actually shows the full width of the stud instead of just a single point, which makes mounting things way more precise. The accuracy has been spot on. Whether Iโm hanging shelves, mounting a TV, or doing general home projects, it consistently finds studs quickly without the usual back-and-forth scanning. It saves a lot of time and frustration compared to cheaper models. Build quality feels solid and durable. Itโs lightweight but doesnโt feel cheap, and itโs held up well with regular use. I also like that it can detect multiple studs at once, which is helpful around windows and door frames. If I had to mention one limitation, it doesnโt include live wire detection โ but for pure stud finding, it performs better than anything else Iโve tried. Overall, this is one of those tools that just works exactly as it should. If you want something fast, accurate, and reliable without overcomplicating things, this is definitely worth it.

Superb. Worked through lathe and plaster for me. Here are some tips....
After my wife broke her hand, I needed to put a temporary bannister rail on the wall side of the stairs between the floors of our house. I first tried my old magnetic finder but it was useless, so I ordered the ProSensor after reading reviews. It turned out to be perfect for the job and was easy and quick to use even though this job was awkward. First, the house is old and has thick lathe and plaster. Second I'd repaired the plaster and lathe some years ago so there were metal screws embedded all over the place. Third, my temporary bannister rail needed to cross floors from downstairs to upstairs where the framing is different, and the floor framing gets in the way. Fourth, there is wainscoting and molding on the lower 3 feet of the wall creating obstacles and making that part thicker. Besides this, I absolutely didn't want to drill any extra holes. The ProSensor managed the job superbly. Its readings are almost instant! I love the way it shows the entire width of the stud. Tips: 1) holding it upside down lets you get it closer to some spots. 2) Use small squares of masking tape to mark the center of the studs. Then check at various heights to avoid chance of misreads using a bubble level or plumb line to ensure vertical . This increases accuracy. 3) You can mark a series of studs and check the distance between them for places where you may be in doubt. This also allows interpolating studs in tight spaces where the sensor may not fit. 4) if you can access the other side of the wall, mark studs there too, and compare both sides by measuring with a tape from a door jamb for example. 5) I found it best to place the sensor and then press the button. Moving the sensor around with the button pressed sometimes gave ambiguous results. I recommend trying all these techniques as there are often unusual framing configurations in older houses. Summary - I'm delighted with this device! It's essential for any do-it-yourselfer. It turns an awkward job into a lot of fun.

Best Stud finder I've ever used
I grew up in a family of contractors. For us, a stud finder was a hammer and a finish nail we poked in the wall until we hit one. The other electronic stud finders gave too many false readings so they just gathered dust and we got really good at patching drywall. My brother-in-law gave me a Franklin Sensors stud finder for Christmas this year. When I saw how many sensors it had I wondered why no one had thought of this before. Somewhat skeptical, I tried it out. It worked like a charm. It lights up right where the studs are. Next time I visited my parents, I took my new stud finder over to show off my new toy. My dad and I tested it throughout the house. It worked on wood and metal studs. (We built the house so we knew what walls had wood or metal studs). The hammer and finish nail approach works but if you aren't into fixing drywall just to hang a picture, I highly recommend the Franklin Sensors Stud Finder. Any other stud finder will just gather dust in my shop. UPDATE 5/15/12 - I recently remodeled my kitchen and putting in new cabinets gave me the chance to put this stud finder to work. It was really helpful with finding studs and because of the many sensors, I could find and mark both edges of the stud. There were a few times where I thought I was getting false readings. Once where I was putting in the sink cabinet but then I realized the stud finder detects density. I was getting a reading where I knew there wasn't a stud but I have copper vent pipes and it was right where I expected the vent pipe would be. In another spot, it would light up like I had a stud but if I went above or below in the same area on the wall, it would not light up. Then I remembered that I patched a hole in the Sheetrock there and have a small piece of 2x4 in the wall to screw the patch to. This Stud Finder exceeded my expectations. You still have to use your brain so you don't end up putting a screw in a vent pipe but I am happy with the ProSensor 710. I think it would be nice to have a way to keep it on. The button works but sometimes it's awkward to hold it down. If there was a button but also a way to lock it down, I think that would be great.

Great Product Easy to Use
I, like most of you who have purchased or are considering a new stud finder, have purchased north of 5, south of 10 of various brands and types. Many of these have been shattered to pieces due to an "accidental" high speed collision with the wall &/or floor. I have often been ashamed of my reaction to yet another worthless stud finder. But the frustration of purchasing the latest and greatest with fancy new features, then discovering that it too does not function as it should is often more than I can bear. The fact of the matter is that most students finders just do not work. So needless to say I was skeptical when my friend told me about the ProSensor 710. Do I spend yet another $50 on something that most likely will fail as many others have failed before. As it turns out, I tried to use my two stud detectors a few days after that conversation, and a stud I did not accurately detect. Instead of having a meltdown and smashing the both of them like The Hulk, I put that project aside and ordered the ProSense. After using it, as well as the magnetic finder, to Install 4 large bookcases on my living room wall, I can say without hesitation that this is the best product of its type on the market today. Now I haven't used every stud finder available, but I've used enough(more like not used) to form an educated opinion I think. It detects studs very efficiently, as well as other solid structures behind the sheetrock such as electric lines and junction boxes. The people who have complained about it not being accurate may not know much about the way electricians run lines, so they don't understand why there are often 2 things being detected at the same time. Honestly, the magnetic finder may be more useful than the ProSense, but using the two to locate, then mark studs is easy and efficient. The ProSense is a little awkward and difficult to position at first, but you get used to it quickly. I the two could be combined, as in the ProSense with a strong magnet built in, that would be cool. Overall I think Thai is a great product and worth the price for those of us who've demolished more than a few other nonfunctional finders.

๐บ๐ธ Company | Great Warranty
Excellent warranty and customer service. I bought this seven months ago. Worked great but it is not drop safe. I dropped it today and it stopped turning on. I called customer service and told them what happened. Theyโre sending a replacement no questions asked. Love that theyโre a Boise, ID ๐บ๐ธ company, too.

Finding wall studs with reliability at the push of a button.
We all know how frustrating it can be to find wall studs without leaving your walls looking like swiss cheese. Many wall stud finders have been released in the past however none in my opinion offered up consistent reliability and accuracy on my day to day home improvement projects...till now. The ProSensor 710 is incredibly accurate and so simple to use my 4 year old was able to locate wall studs in our house. First impression: Pulling the ProSensor 710 out of the box I was first surprised by how big the device was. It's 3 inches wide and a little over 7 inches long which is basically the equivalent of a chalk board eraser on steroids. I thought this would be an overall negative in terms of general use/handling but that isn't the case at all. In hand this stud finder just feels right. The power/activate button is easily accessible and doesn't require much force to push which is a MASSIVE plus when using stud finder. Even better Franklin Sensor cleverly placed the power button in the middle of the handle grip so what you naturally find is when using the device you will use your index finger and pinky finger to hold the top of the handle, your thumb to hold the bottom of the handle and your middle/ring finger (depending on hand size) to push the power button. It doesn't sound super easy to use but trust me in hand the balance between the size and weight of the device makes operating this sensor super easy. Impression after use: I'm just blown away by how good this device is at finding wall studs while removing lots of the issues other stud finders have. The ergonomics of the handle and balance between the size of the device all work together which make operating the ProSensor 710 a cake walk. Simply walk up to any given wall, press the power button, place device against the wall and the slide horizontally or vertically to find the wall stud layout in any given room. It's just that simple. No more having to bend your fingers around like your trying to play the guitar to both hold up the stud finder and press the power button...no longer do you have to worry about misreadings because the stud finder temporarily came off of the wall. With the ProSensor 710 findings accurate wall studs is as easy as point and click. Feautres: -There 13 LEDs that will indicate when a stud is found in your wall in relation to where you have the stud finder placed on your wall. -LEDs are bright and easily visible while operating the device. -Bottom of the stud finder is smooth so when your sliding it across your wall you don't have to worry about any unexpected damage. -Accurate time and time again -Ergonomics are second to none on this device -No longer do you have to press the power button ONLY after placing the device against the wall and then make sure to not accidentally let the device come off the wall resulting in misreadings. This device removes all those complexities and all you have to do is press the button and just naturally slide across the wall without any concern of any short mis-contact as the device will compensate accordingly. Cons: -Only real verdict I've found is the price which can turn some folks off. Verdict: This is a higher priced digital wall stud finder but for the easy of use, accuracy and reliability is consistently provides me I would easily recommend it to anyone who is tired of guessing where the wall studs are in their house.

Best stud finder I have ever used
I purchased this stud finder after my previous one was misplaced during a move. I used the ProSensor to tackle projects like hanging pictures, installing shelves, installing a flat screen TV mount, and running wires in walls. This is, by far, the easiest to use, most accurate, and fastest stud finder I have ever used with standard drywall. I have used several different stud finders over the year. One of the most common tries to mark the edges of the stud. I found that repeated searches from different directions would not show a consistent location for the edges. I'd put pencil marks where the edges were. The edge locations would vary by +/- 1/2 inch and sometimes more. The big problem with this old method is that I usually didn't care where the EDGE of the stud was, I wanted to locate the CENTER so I would know where to sink my nail, screw, or whatever. It didn't need to be precisely the center, but I didn't want to miss the stud. The LED display is much easier to read and faster than the old style that marks the edges. This one shows you the width of the stud, so locating the center Here is my tip on usage: For larger pictures, I like to put two hooks in the wall so that the picture doesn't get bumped crooked as easily. When I am locating studs using the ProSensor, I take a small square of blue painters (masking) tape. I locate the stud using the ProSensor and mark the center of the stud by sticking the tape on the wall. I turn the tape so that the corner points down to make an arrow that points where the center of the stud is. Once I have located two studs, I can use my level to mark exactly where the hooks need to go. Couldn't be easier!

Easy to Use
Very good for locating studs or other fixtures inside walls. I have another one (yellow) that gave good service but unfortunately I didn't remove the batteries when I stored it so they leaked and damaged the connections and possibly the circuit. Why I bought this one was I needed a stud finder and can't repair the original one.

A stud finder that actually works
I had a stud finder that bleeps at everything no matter what you do. This one actually works. Insert two batteries, hold horizontally on the wall and move across. As you find a stud the lights come on. As you move across the stud the lights in the centre come on. That is when you know you have found the centre of the stud. These DO NOT detect electrical cables. They are simple to use and are NOT a bleeping nuisance!
