PSI Woodworking CF2J 2" Lathe Faceplate for 1" x 8tpi Spindle Without Screw Chuck

I have used a bigger version of this for a while, but find this small one extremely useful. Can never have enough ways to attach wood to the lathe.

This is ideal for starting smaller projects, very well made, nice clean threads (well machined) just one thing that would of made it perfect. Some sort of flat edges or a hole on the shaft of the threaded area. I only say this incase it over tightens on the lathe. Luckily I haven’t had it happen (luckily) but my other face plates have some way of being able to remove them if they should lock up on the lathe. Again it’s a good addition to my collection but I always like a fail safe just incase.

I was looking for a mini faceplate to turn small pieces like candy dishes, lidded pots, etc. This fit the bill perfectly. I ordered the 2" plate which is just enough purchase to keep a small piece turning. Great value for the money and is a great addition to a factory faceplate and jaw chuck.

If you’re a wood turner who makes bowls, you can’t have too many chucks. If I had a big budget I’d have several Nova chucks, a vacuum chuck, a Cole chuck, and other dedicated chucks, but like most hobbyists, my budget is limited- at least for now. I rely a lot on temporary jam chucks and glue blocks made from construction softwood, which are attached to small and inexpensive faceplates like this one. At roughly $18 for a 2” model, this is cheap enough that I can have several on hand, each with its own dedicated temporary wood chuck. I can also use it, with the appropriate threaded center adapter, to make custom tailstock supports for turning odd objects. It’s a well made piece at a good price.
