The ultimate safety Razor showcasing Japanese Craftsmanship
This is the second razor I have and this will be the last. I have a Merkur 34C which is a good quality razor but compare with Feather Wood Handle? The Merkur is a good industrial product but the Feather is a masterpiece showcasing Japanese craftsmanship. The make quality is second to none and the aesthetics is just amazing. The infused wood handle is another detail revealing the attention to detail in Japanese's design. You don't want to go back to hard, cold mental handles anymore after you have the Feather in hand. The texture and warmth of the wooden handle is one detail I love the most: I am afraid I wouldn't be able to describe but it's something you can only feel it when you have it in hand. I try to capture the texture with camera but I can assure you that the photos didn't help. I will be honest, the price is a big hurdle but I don't regret the purchase. Just enjoy the shaving moment!

Very Impressive razor and it felt great
I have to admit I was skeptical at first. However, once you receive the razor, you can tell the quality. However, was it $350 quality. For me it sure was. This is the same head shaver part as the cheaper AS-D2 razor which is all steel, so you are paying an extra $100 for the wood trimming. If you have the excess cash and want a forever razor, this is it. Also, I have never felt such an easy shave before. It felt effortless with Feather blades.

A great statement piece
This seems to be a polarizing shaver - probably due to its very high price. Full disclosure: I had a GC (not from the seller or manufacturer) that basically covered the cost of the razor and the blades. Otherwise I would have never purchased this razor. The two star knock off is mostly because of the price. Having addressed the price lets talk about pros and cons. Pros: Well Made Quality Materials Good weight/heft (i.e. not too heavy and not too light). Looks (and is ) expensive. Makes a good match to my ebony wood handled straight razor on the sink! Cons: PRICE! I am not a razor collector nor do I have a cabinet full of all types of razors and blades. I used to shave with whatever was for sale at CostCo and then switched off to electric razors for almost a decade. Recently I switched back to straight razors because I enjoy the ritual (hot towel, mixing up the lather, the three pass shave, etc.) and while I enjoy the ritual, and the results, I don't always have time for a three pass shave with a straight edge. Hence, the need for a safety razor for those quick shaves. However, I still wanted an upgrade to and something classier then the BIC disposable. This razor looks fantastic and it is Japanese steel so you know it will probably out last you. The razor is top heavy and has a decent heft in the hand. In some reviews people complain that the razor being light and indeed the all stainless steel version of the same is heavier but IMHO that is already getting too heavy. You want the weight of the razor head to cut the beard so having a heavier handle is not necessarily better but just tires your hand. BTW: if you are trying to decide between the two outside of the difference in weight of the handle the two are the exact same razor and produce the same results. I use mine exclusively with Feather blades and the combination works great. However, this is a very mild razor so it won't grab on to a mass of hair. I have a decently thick beard and generally shave every two to three days (that is I am sporting more then a stubble) and the razor/blade combo does fine with three passes. The correct angle for your skin/hair growth pattern is key. If you don't hold the blade correctly it will not cut. It is more of a precision instrument vs. an aggressive razor where you just have to drag it across your face to get results. You could save yourself a ton of money by buying this same exact razor, from the same manufacturer, just in all stainless steel. In fact let me be perfectly clear this razor does nothing a $12 razor won't do. However, if you want a well made reliable luxury piece you could do far worse then this razor.

Amazing Quality
The moment I opened the box the amazing quality was clear, something built to last. During shaving very easy to grip.
