Hi Dianne, it's called DIY kit because you need to adhere the double sided tape to the wooden sticks to attach to the card props. The double sided tape is provided, it's already in cut-out size.

Can you use a photo stand to set up?

Depending on which type of photo stand you have, I believe you can use the clips on a cross bar of photo stand to hold the fabric backdrop.

What are the lengths of this item?

1 pc backdrop fabric measures 4.5 * 6 feet; This item was fantastic! We were so impressed with the quality.

This isn’t made to be hung. If you are crafty and can insert grommets or create some other way to hang it, it can be done.
