Excellent buy!! Dont have to think twice...
Let me break my review by parts: 1. Size and Build: Heavy for its size! BUT, you know that heavier speakers are usually better than lighter ones.. and this statement is true in case of the S715i. Size is pretty chick - I was nervous when I first looked at the size of the package, but buried deep underneath, the S715i is extremely portable. No handle, but, you wont need it for its size... really! Build quality is VERY good for its price.. The mesh in the front has wider pores than my laptops speakers, so, its easy to blow dust away. The stand pops out from bottom on the Bluetooth version (has a button for that and locks it in when you close).. and its pretty sturdy as well. 2. Excellent Sound quality - nice bass and treble; Most other controls are left with the Mobile phone you are using. Not so great when playing at LOUD volume; but it is still music till about 80% of volume. Works for me since I dont expect to play it at a Disco ;) When it comes to filling my room with music, I am 100% satisfied. - I had doubts if the Bluetooth connection will keep the Audio quality at its peak and I must admit that I can`t tell the difference between running songs on USB vs on Bluetooth. No loss of quality while streaming music on Bluetooth that is.. 3. Ease of Use: VERY VERY VERY easy to use. Easy to pair with Android and Apple products. Just the On/Off, Bluetooth detect, and Volume up/down buttons on the player. I like it when I can control the rest of the things from my iPhone - Playlists, Equalizers etc... 4. Value for Money - TRUE value for money. I haven`t tried the BOSE Sound Dock so will refrain from comparing those 2 products. But, for 120 bucks, this is a truly portable, no-compromise, feature rich and EXCELLENT music player. Sometimes, I look at the player and wonder how it producing such loud volume..! Other petty things: It ran on battery for at least 4 hours. It is true that the volume and sound quality drop when you unplug from the power source, but, I can understand that the battery wouldn`t have produced the required bass. Necessary compromise for the portability, battery size and weight of the equipment. - Cannot really speak for the number of recharge cycles of the battery, but, it comforts me that this is the same battery that you find on most Cordless phones; So, the battery is easily available outside and it is easy for users to swap it by themselves. +1 for being repairable by End user. Who does this product best cater to? - If you are on the move and do not want a cluttered and space occupying Music player. Does not compare in sound quality with full fledged Music systems, but is very close. - If you are looking for your FIRST Sound dock and do not want to blow up 250 dollars on the Bose. Remember that the Bose Sounddock portable 2 does not offer playback on battery not Bluetooth connectivity. - If "GOOD Sound Quality", "Affordable" and "Value for Money" are all on your Must-have`s list....

Wow!
I've been looking for a portable speaker system for several months. Wasn't sure if I should go with AirPlay or not. Decided against it because of 1-cost and 2-listening environment. Most of my time with the speakers would be outside while brewing beer or working on the car (neither exactly audiophile conditions) so the increased fidelity at the increased cost made no sense. I'd been looking at this Logitech BT system for quite a while but the price kinda threw me. There were a couple other systems, both notably from Kickstarter, which were interesting and about the same outlay. Not being able to listen to them first or possibly return them later decided that for me in the negative. Along comes Amazon with this setup for $40 off the regular price AND they include a $50 MP3 credit? I was throwing my money at the monitor before I got to the bottom of the page. I've been using this for about 48 hours now and I am extremely impressed. It's debut was at a party over the weekend, playing and competing against a similar system in another room. While the decision on better music choices wavered between the two, the sound was unanimously in favor of the Logitech. The volume was loud enough to hold it's own against a room full of people dancing and singing to everything from ABBA to Zeppelin. On less than a full (6 hour) initial charge it kept playing for well over 3 hours at quite an elevated volume with no sign of pooping out. Pairing was extremely quick and painless as a variety of both Apple and Android devices took turns as the streaming content providers. Being able to remember up to 8 devices without re-pairing is huge, too. Size may be an issue for some but I find it difficult to find fault. To me the Boombox most resembles a not-quite-comically oversized LAN line phone handset, like those old wall-mount ones you'd find in the kitchen. It is quite light, the controls are dead-simple to use, and pairing to most devices took less than 2 seconds. The only con I can find is sound quality based on room placement. With two of the four passive sub radiators facing the rear placing the unit in a corner will dirty up the sound faster than a Brazilian mudslide. Best to leave it free in a room or possibly backed by a single wall. I guess the 6-hour battery life could be improved but I don't know how frequently I'm going to listen wirelessly for that long where plugging it in wouldn't be an option. I also find it difficult to ding it for missing features such as speakerphone capability, external device charging, or AM/FM tuner. Of those having a built-in radio would be the nicest, but the requisite antennae (be it power-cord or otherwise) would detract from it's usefulness and totability more than it would add in function. Pro's are definitely sound quality, portability, light weight, build quality, ease of use, and usefulness. So I'm very satisfied and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Nice Sound
I'm one of those people who has a ton of music in my iTunes library and pretty much play all of my music from an iPhone, iPod or iPad. So, It's important to me to have a decent speaker system to hook up to. Now, there are certainly high end speakers that you can buy for hundreds of dollars that may sound better than the Logitech boombox. However, for a speaker that is wireless, compact and only ~$120.00, this boombox is a great value. For starters, it had a good, quality sound. It doesn't give off that "crackle" at high volumes. And this little guy can get up there in volume. It's not the loudest speaker I've ever heard, of course. But for its size, it really booms. The next thing is it's portability. It's relatively small and thin - I can easily fit it in my computer bag. It has a small stand that pops out of the back to set it up. I took it to a backyard BBQ and it performed admirably. Then there is the ease of use. It connects to any bluetooth player with the press of a button and has a pretty long range to it. I had my iPhone playing on it three rooms away in my house without a hiccup. Finally, there is the overall quality. It's built well. It's not constructed out of a thin, measly piece of plastic that cracks the minute it's bumped the wrong way. I own a few portable speakers (I bought a couple before I found the right one for me). Including the small "bullet" sized one, the Oonz and this one. Although the bullet and the Oontz perform ok in their own right and have their uses (extreme portability - they are very small), the Logitech boombox is by far my favorite. For the money, this speaker provides great value.

I wanted to hate this...
Nothing in this category and price range beats this. First, here's my story: I read all the reviews both in Amazon and by reviews on CNET and other high tech sites and I knew that this was a contender. I even gave it a listen at Best Buy and it was the best sounding box there along with the Bose. But I resisted because my impression is that Logitec Boombox is not only retro looking, but it's an unhip, ugly, tacky kind of K-mart looking retro. Whatever sound quality it achieves seems to be achieve via low tech means -- a bunch of drivers thrown together. Big wow. So, I looked looked around at the more monolithic, elegant boxes that are out there like the Jamboxes, Boses, Phillips', Sonys, Altec Lansings, etc, looking for price/performance/value sweet spot. I previewed and even purchased some of these. The Jambox went back. The SuperTooth Disco went back. I kept the Soundmatters Foxl, which took care of my need for great sound that fits in the pocket impresses friends. But nothing I tried in the medium sized portable category worked. So that forced me to give the Logitech a serious even though I was really resistant to the look of thing and was skeptical that it was just brute force technology. Fast forward to this afternoon. So I open it up and here are my first impressions: 1) It is small and thin. In person, it better aesthetically than it looks in pictures. It's relatively small size suggests...don't get your hopes up about the sound. 2) The sound is remarkable. As with the FoxL, it has a much bigger sound than you'd think. And unlike the Supertooth Disco that I returned, it's full-bodied, rich and distortion free. You can hear every instrument and it's very well balanced. As many have commented, it has Bose level quality. I have agree. 3) Bluetooth pair is easy, quick and painless. One of the things often mentioned by reviewers was degradation of sound quality when to take it off the AC and switch to battery power. I haven't tried this yet, but when I do, I will update my review. UPDATE: When unplugged the volume drops and the bass seems to diminish. But you can turn the volume back up to compensate. When you do that, the bass seems slightly less...but not enough to make a huge difference. It's a bout 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn on a tone knob if there was one. Another sidenote: Some people are so obsessed with maxing the sound when unplugged that there's a thread in the Logitech forum on how to fool it into thinking it's plugged in. From what I can see, people are playing with battery packs, of the type that travelers use to keep their laptops running.

Not terrible, not good.
This isn't garbage by any means, but it's not very good either. I have the bluetooth version, so that's what my review is based on. Pros: -Bluetooth is nice, no need for wires, and you can connect it to your bluetooth devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.) without a problem -Not a terrible price compared to its competition -Sounds pretty good when it's plugged in (powered via AC Adapter) Cons: -Sound while powered via Charge (not plugged into an outlet) is significantly degraded. I understand their reason behind it was to conserver power. They should make this optional. I may want this to only last for an hour while I'm out grilling some steak, but I want the 'full sound', not the degraded sound you get when you unplug it. -The bluetooth is annoying when you want to use it with a different device from its previous use. For example, if you connect it to your iPad, and then a couple days later you want to connect your iPhone to it, you can't just connect it. You have to go onto your iPad and disconnect the bluetooth first. This isn't all that terrible, but it's an inconvenience when your iPad is upstairs in your bedroom, and you're outside with the grill. ;) -If you connect this to your bluetooth on your laptop (at least on my 2011 Macbook Pro) there's a really annoying static snap, crackle, pop sound. Like you're listening to an old LP. It doesn't do this if it's plugged in to the headphone jack (but doesn't that defeat the purpose of wireless?) - I've had this for a little over almost 1.5 years now and one of the speakers is already popping when there's any low-end. Would I recommend this product to a friend? It would depend. If you're wanting a fairly inexpensive bluetooth speaker, it's not too bad, but I'll be looking elsewhere.

Good little boom box
This product was just what I was looking for. My wife wanted good sounding speakers while listening to iTunes music on her MacBook Air. The speakers on the MB Air are terrible for listening to music, so this fit the bill 100%. 1. It's completely portable, battery or plug in. The sound is definitely better when plugged in, but you do have both options with the rechargeable battery or the plug with a 6' cord. 2. It connects easily to any source that can transmit per bluetooth. This is really convenient in placing the boom box up to 33' away. It also comes with a 3.5mm, mini jack cable, to plug directly into your iPod, phone or computer. 3. It's small enough, and light weight enough, to make it easily portable. If the speakers were any smaller, I think the speakers would not sound good. The length is about 15" and width is about 3". 4. The price I paid was 109.99 with free shipping, and I have an Amazon Credit Card that gives me Amazon money credit. At this time, I had 30 Amazon dollars to knock off that $110 price, plus Logitech and Amazon had a special, that gave us $50 worth of MP3 downloadable music. The music we downloaded from Amazon was added automatically to our iTunes library. This brought the total price down to $30 for this great little boom box. So, even if it cost more, I think the features are well worth the money, and in my opinion, was one of the best buys I've made in a long time. It is NOT a room filling speaker system, but it is great for a personal listening device. So if you want to increase the quality and volume of your personal listening device, then this is the device to choose.

Battery Issues & Speaker Issue
I bought two bluetooth speakers at the same time: this one, and a Photive PH-BTW55 HYDRA. This one was more expensive, but in every way, I'm much happier with the Photive. Both are similarly loud. But the Photive is water and dust proof, has a much better battery life, and is better quality in several ways. This speaker has substantial battery issues. One obvious problem with that is it doesn't last long when not plugged in. But there are other effects, such as the device turns off when you play it at loud volumes and it's not plugged in (the battery can't handle the power needed to play at the top volume levels when not plugged in). Also, the already inferior battery life on this speaker quickly deteriorated, whereas the Photive speaker uses a lithium ion battery that lasted well over twice as long when new, and has had very little loss to its life since. Another issue with the Logitech is that when played at the top volume, the bass was always a little too much for the speaker, causing a distorted sound. A couple months into owning the Logitech, one of the speakers blew out, and now music at all levels is distorted. They should have used speakers that could handle the volume level of the device. It's disappointing a company as well known as Logitech would use inferior speakers and inferior batteries. There are better options than this speaker.

WOW - Loud and has Bass!! Works with Android!
My initial try at a Bluetooth speaker was the SoundFreaq Side Kick, which at $99 is a great speaker; but lacked the bass I was looking for. I wish this Logitech speaker had the USB port for charging a phone and the remote control buttons like the SoundFreak but I can live without that (most control is done via the phone anyhow). When I first hooked this speaker to my phone (took about 30 seconds out of the box to get it working via Bluetooth) I was like... WOW, now this is what I'm looking for! And that was playing with it in my car off the speaker's battery. When I got home and plugged it in then the bass really kicked in. Great sound. There are not many other features really, no other bells and whistles, but boy does it sound nice (especially if you place it in a corner so the rear firing woofers can do their thing.) For $119 it sounds better (I think) than the $300 Bose or $189 Altech Lansing units. I wish, like others here, that Logitech provided an option to play at full sound quality when on battery power at the expense of battery life. A "battery saver" option button would have been nice to provide us the choice. However, I happened to have a spare Belkin UPS from an old AT&T UVerse modem that provided 12V output (no inverter). This works great to provide it with "wall power" and then runs at full volume. This UPS (bu3dc000-12v) is a little big to lug around but will probably provide 10 - 12 hours of battery power for an outdoor party. If it dies then I'd get the 6 or so hours from the internal battery. Nice! I did get it to work via Bluetooth on my Windows 7 PC also. When pairing use the code "0000". Then you can use your PC for your music source, however with no remote control options on the speaker (besides volume) you must use your PC to switch songs. So ultimately doing it via my phone is nice as I have full control in my hand. I think Logitech is missing the boat a bit on this by only advertising it as an Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad accessory when it should work with any Bluetooth device. I have an Android based HTC Thunderbolt and it works great. In fact it is louder via Bluetooth then when I plug it in via the 1/4" audio cable.
