Top Reason (In My Opinion) To Buy This Over a Rug Dr
When I bought this, I was highly skeptical because I have always used a Rug Dr that I rented from a local carrier. I have used them for years and was not really familiar with the Bissell Machine. I bought it after reading some reviews from other people who purchased this particular product. As with everything, there were both positive and negative reviews to go through. Build quality for both machines is good. However, after using both machines, I feel that the Big Green has a better design than the Rug Dr. One of the reviews caught my eye and really swayed me towards this product. It mentioned the ease of cleaning and maintaining the item. The biggest difference between a Rug Dr and the Bissell Big Green Machine is in the way it scrubs the carpet. Rug Dr uses a brush bar that moves from front to back rapidly to scrub the carpet where as the Bissell uses a spinning drum just like a vacuum to scrub the carpet. I have not tried to take apart a Rug Dr to clean it but with the Big Green you just push a small lever and the drum swivels out of the bottom, remove (3) screws and the brush pulls right out. Access to all of the dirt and pet hair is easily removed. Time it takes me to tear it apart and put it back together for cleaning is about 10 to 15 minutes. This is important to me because I do not care how many times you go over your carpet with a vacuum or how long you take to vacuum, there is going to be deep dirt that will come up during cleaning. With pet hair it is the same. Pet hair works its way into your carpet and with a good carpet cleaner it is going to get pulled out and stick to the inside of the machine. I literally just pulled a handful out of it that was stuck to the drum around the brush. Thankfully it is easy to remove so I can get in and clean it out. As far as performance of the two machines, I would say that they are almost equal. I do see that the Big Green has the ability to pull up more of the water than the Rug Dr leaving your carpet dryer after one pass. I have (2) 100+lb bull mastiffs. My female has a bladder control issue so I am cleaning my carpets is a monthly chore for me.. The pet stains do come up. I use the Bissell Advance Clean and Protect with a good pet spot treatment prior to cleaning. That pretty much sums up my review. I do recommend this to anyone who owns a home and is wanting their own machine to keep the carpets clean. It is a decent investment to make but if you are always having to rent one to get it done you may as well buy one. It really does save a lot of my time by having it on hand rather than being at the whim of store hours and the time it takes me to pick it up and return it. Hope this helps.

A Game-Changer for My Carpets: Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine!
I recently purchased the Bissell โBig Green Deep Cleaning Machineโ, and let me tell you, it has exceeded all my expectations! This incredible carpet cleaning machine has completely transformed my once heavily soiled carpets, surpassing the cleaning performance of not one, not two, but three Hoover carpet cleaning machines I've previously owned. Here's why I can't stop raving about it: 1. Unparalleled Cleaning Power: The Bissell Big Green is a true powerhouse when it comes to removing stubborn dirt and grime from carpets. It effortlessly tackles high-traffic areas, stains, and even years of accumulated dirt with ease. I was genuinely amazed by the visible difference it made in just one cleaning session. 2. Deep Cleaning at Its Best: What sets the Bissell Big Green apart from other carpet cleaners is its ability to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers. It reaches where other machines have failed, extracting dirt, allergens, and pet hair that were seemingly impossible to get rid of. The end result is carpets that not only look visibly cleaner but also feel rejuvenated and refreshed. 3. User-Friendly Design: Despite its powerful performance, the Bissell Big Green is surprisingly easy to use. It features a simple, intuitive design that makes setup and operation a breeze. The large water tanks eliminate the need for frequent refills, allowing for uninterrupted cleaning sessions. Additionally, the long power cord and wide cleaning path make covering large areas a quick and efficient process. 4. Exceptional Build Quality: The construction of this machine is impressive. It feels sturdy and durable, ensuring that it will last for years to come. The cleaning brushes are robust and effectively agitate the carpet, while the powerful suction leaves no trace of residue behind. It's evident that Bissell has crafted this machine with longevity and reliability in mind. 5. Outstanding Value for Money: Investing in the Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine is truly worth every penny. Its exceptional cleaning capabilities and durability make it a cost-effective solution for anyone seeking professional-grade carpet cleaning results at home. Not to mention, it saves you from the hassle and expenses of hiring professional carpet cleaners. In conclusion, the Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine has completely transformed the state of my carpets, surpassing the performance of multiple Hoover carpet cleaning machines I've used in the past. Its unparalleled cleaning power, user-friendly design, exceptional build quality, and overall value for money make it an absolute game-changer. I wholeheartedly recommend this machine to anyone looking to restore the beauty and cleanliness of their carpets effortlessly. Trust me; you won't be disappointed!

Excellent purchase!
This surpassed any expectations I held. Pros: slide off the top of the box, plug in the extension cord and itโs ready to go! This is lighter weight than I expected (Female/mid thirties). It is fairly easy to pick up and carry. Cleaning is a breeze. As directions state: vacuum well! I have a Miele C1 cat and dog, vacuum daily (I work from home), and hair still came up. However, none was stuck to the machine or bristles when done. Easy to operate. Quieter than expected. Removed two stains from my cat throwing up (treated with biokleen carpet cleaner). Rather than use my handheld machine I waited two days for this to arrive. I have three senior dogs (18,16, and 15) one has kidney disease and is deaf (she was given 30 days to live 5 years ago) and in the last few months has struggled to hold her bladder more often. I am fairly good at catching accidents when they happen (luckily they happen on the hardwood more than the carpet), but I was hoping this machine would take care of what I possibly missed (I began to smell an off urine smell in parts of our room). I must admit I despise carpet. Our bedroom is on the first floor and one of two carpeted areas (the upstairs carpet but two of my dogs are too old for stairs). We recently moved into our home and I could not continue paying a company to come out and clean the carpets (which are new), no matter how often they claimed (green and low scent!) eco-products, my house wreaked like the laundry aisle at target. I have an older cat who has survived cancer twice, an husband who survived hereditary cancer, and needed to continue to minimize exposure to toxic junk. Not to mention the smell left was overwhelming and gave everyone headaches. After running this machine with diluted Puracy cleaner (and then running a rinse cycle over the carpet), only a faint citrus smell is left and carpets look so clean! The water was so brown! The carpets looked cleaner and smelled better than when the professionals have come out. They were also far less damp. I placed a dehumidifier, cracked a window for a bit of winter air, and shut the door to not trigger the thermostat. Cons: it takes forever to use. I may have went much slower than some (I had to refill four times). It took me almost two hours to do our small room. I am not looking forward to doing the living room (but the blessing of clean and fresh carpets outweighs the time it takes to use). If I were only using this a few times a year, I wouldnโt care, but as I know I will replace these carpets within a year, I plan on cleaning them once a month to keep things cleaner. The upstairs where only cats hangout occasionally will see the remainder of uses.

Good Machine but a little heavy.
Have only used it one time so far but works very well. Beware it is very heavy for a Shampooer and can tire you out over a long period. One of the best features is clean up of the unit . The brush stays mostly clean in and environment of pet hair and lots of carpet residue so clean up is very easy

Sturdy parts, intuitive, space-saving, addictive dirty water tank, APPEARS/HOPING $ justified
First of all, I was READY to clean my carpets. Moved the furniture out of the living room, and my teens took turns cleaning my very dirty (beyond all hope?) carpet. They weren't having a lot of success for their effort, and my son realized that our 16 year old trusty Royal had a crack in the clean water tank. I immediately went online looking for a replacement tank, but the entire unit has been discontinued (probably a decade or more ago) and I wanted to cry. What to do? I had owned a cheaper (Box Warehouse) BISSELL 20 years ago, and was disappointed that after just a few years of biannual cleaning of a small 1600 foot only half-carpeted home, it was not operating well. Taking it to a repair shop, I was disappointed to hear that the make/model were only intended to last a couple years, and I had been lucky to double that. They recommended the Royal which was 10x easier to clean and just a better made, solid machine, even though it cost 2x what I had paid for the BISSELL. I swore off using BISSELL products in the future. But, two weeks ago, I did hours and hours of research, and based on my findings, finally decided to give the BG10 a chance. The new machine arrived, and I took it out of the box (assembled! Nice!) and put it to use, only to find that the soapy water only came out in the middle 3 inches of the machine (not entirely across the 11 inch front as expected). After consulting the manual and the internet, I contacted tech support through Amazon. (I had emailed BISSELL as well, as they were already closed for the business day). Following careful analysis over the phone, it was determined that the machine was faulty (this was verified via email from BISSELL support) and Amazon immediately emailed me a UPS label for return and sent a replacement. They did not make me wait until they received the machine to ship me a new one. Bonus point for BISSELL. It is important to note that I had returned my furniture back to the living room in the week interim, and moved it out again for my 2nd attempt. I was hosting two birthday parties in the coming weekend and cleaned the worst part of the carpet just to get by with the faulty 1/3 operational machine (meaning 3x as many passes with faulty extractor for the same results as a functional machine.) However, I was pleased. Also, I purchased the additional hand held hose/upholstery cleaner, and this worked like a charm. It, too, is very intuitively designed. The following is a breakdown in bullet points by Pros/Cons. PROS: -The machine is very intuitively set up with hard plastic parts that are unlikely to be problematic like my BISSELL 20 years ago was (thickish plastic bag dirty water tank inside the hard plastic clean water tank-which made for good space saving but ultimately failed more quickly and was SO HARD TO CLEAN. -Even if it were not intuitively easy to use, the basic directions are on stickers on the machine! Cool! -Very easy to clean. -My husband and I are both 6 feet tall. I was concerned about the ergonomics of a shorter handle than our last machine, but this was easy to push and pull. -This machine has a smaller, more compact base than my last machine AND folds in half! This is so great for space saving!! Love it!! -There are lots of videos online for just about any question you may have (excepting maybe your machine only putting out a third of the cleaning solution that it should, but that appears to be a rare, strange lemon case) -BISSELL and Amazon were wonderful to work with. -I purchased the 3x Bissell cleaning solution as recommended in a review, and WOW! The solution or the machine or the combination cause a very addictive drive to clean your carpet JUST SO YOU CAN DUMP THE DIRTY WATER IN THE SINK! It is very satisfying. -I was determined to buy new carpet, but my husband wants to wait 5 more years until the kids are out of the house (and take their puppy with them!) Impossible! Our carpet was past gone and SO NASTY. But after using my BG10, I now have hope! Waiting wonโt be THAT bad! -Iโm pretty sure that the crack in my last machine was due to my husband carting this machine to his momโs house a couple of times to clean her carpet for her. This machine was MADE to travel, and it appears very sturdy. I am hoping it does its duty and travels well if he feels compelled to clean her carpets again. -The water is SO dirty, even after multi-directional cleaning, that part of me wondered if the BISSELL cleaner is designed to turn brown after it runs through the machine. It is really quite incredible. The water sucking up through the machine is visible through a window, and it honestly doesnโt look all that dirty. But when I dump the water out in the sink, itโs like a mud and sand pit. Sand? Really? Where is THAT coming from? It is a very fulfilling task when you see such incredible results! -This extractor is unique from the rest that I researched in that it sucks/extracts going forward and backward. One reviewer mentioned how set apart this makes the BG10, because this saves you half the time to do the same job as other cleaners. -My kids commented that this extractor must suck up more water, because we all feel the carpet is drier more quickly after a cleaning. This does seem to be true. Before, we would turn on the ceiling fans and not replace the furniture on the carpet for 24 hours to ensure that the wood feet of the furniture would not crack/warp. Nice. -I read complaints that the cleaner leave a small (1/2 inch?) gap between the wall and the unit, but I have never seen a machine that did this, and I would not want it to. You want a little gap between the furniture and the machine, or you could cause water damage to wood. If you need to get closer, use the hand held hose. -Others complained that the machine is unwieldy. I did not find this to be the case. I am in my mid 40s, and this maneuvered as expected and like other machines. It doesnโt feel any heavier or wider or more difficult to move to a new carpet lane than others I have used. This may be different for someone older. Or maybe this could be your workout routine! CONS: -The front of my machine said that a trial size formula was in the water tank and would need to be removed before use. Nope. (SEE PICTURES) And there was not one in the replacement machine either. Whatโs up with that? I did purchase a 52 oz bottle of BISSELL Clean and Protect 3x formula at the same time as the machine, but it came a couple days later. I had to wait. The trial formula would have been a handy inclusion. -My carpet pills when I carpet clean. I used to think that was a sign of a really good cleaner, but have since read that it means the cleaner is too harsh on the carpet. This machine probably pills 10 per cent of what my BISSELL from 20 years ago would pill, but my Royal hardly pilled up at all. However, my carpet is over 20 years old. And I plan to replace it in 5 years. Not a big deal for me. - The upholstery/spot hose cleaner (which I do highly recommend) costs an additional 50 dollars! That brings the total cost for the machine and hose to just under 600 dollars. This was double what I had planned/hoped to pay for a replacement machine. Butโฆwellโฆinflation affects us everywhere, and this machine is intended as a rental, so hopefully I will get another 16 years of biannual use out of this machine like I did my last one, making this a worthwhile investment. I really donโt know why anyone would not want the spot cleaner, except that by selling the two items separately, BISSELL can charge more/hide the costs? Just include it already. -The soap dispenser is a button on the right side of the handle. I am right handed, but my husband is a leftie. Not sure if this would be a problem or not. He doesnโt really use the machine much. My last machine had the dispenser on the underside of the handle so it was convenient for left or right handed users. However, that was depressed with the middle finger, having a mid-line handle like a vacuum. I took turns operating the machine with the left hand, and holding the cord with my right and vice versa. However, the BG10 is more like a โT-shapedโ handle which would be very uncomfortable if it had a button to depress in the middle. Two depressors (for right and left handed users) would just give the extractor one more thing that could break, so I donโt know that this would be a good answer either. However, it is worthy of mention. -The machine uses quite a bit of soap (two cup fulls for a tank of clean water). My Royal was a very conservative soap dispenser. A bottle would last me a couple years. I do not expect this to last me a whole year. I used three tanks of water and 6 caps of soap so far cleaning one hallway and my medium-sized living room once (left, right, forward, backward and diagonal each way, which is what I typically do). -The upholstery/spot cleaner hose is made of solid gray plastic. It would be nice if the top were made of the clear plastic like the machine dirty water tank has on the front so you can see when the liquid is no longer coming up (your job is complete). It is also very satisfying to see the stains coming up via the dirty water suds. -It is a tad on the loud side (over 80 decibels per other reports), but all the machines I have used have been comparable. I just use 30+ decibel blocking ear plugs. Hard to listen to music, but if that is what is necessary for a functional product, this is something I am willing to deal with. -My Royal had a separate soap tank which attached to the clean water tank via a tiny hose. This meant that at the end of use, I could dump the clean water tank, dump and clean the dirty water tank, and just leave the soap there to be sucked up at the right water/soap ratio in the future. This was a BEAUTIFUL feature (one of my favorites!) Please consider this as an option for future BG10 units. Just now, I finished cleaning a bedroom carpet, and only used half the water/soap. I canโt pour it back into the concentrated bottle. I am not supposed to leave it in the tank. I donโt need/have time to clean an already cleaned carpet. Conundrum. All in all, had to move my furniture 3x in 2 weeks in order to get my carpet clean. *groan* However, I am very happy with this product (and the company's tech support and operational videos) and I think you will be, too.

Highly recommended!!
LOVE this machine! After buying a Bissell Proheat 2X Revolution and using it for the first year or two I bought one for my parents and recommended one to my sister. My first machine still works great. I've replaced the rollers and belts due to wear over the past 6-7 years. We have cats and it works great for spot cleaning. The main issue is the water tanks are too small. Takes 20 trips to dump and refill to clean a normal size living room. After researching we opted for the Big Green Commercial and happy we did. It works incredibly well. Cleaning is superior to the smaller machines and the large volume water tanks are a selling point. The commercial machine has two motors so the vacuum/suction has it's own powerful motor which means the carpet is much dryer than I expected it to be where the little machine requires multiple slow passes to suck up the water to my satisfaction. Definitely kept using the Bissell 4X carpet cleaning solution with FeBreze because the house smells so clean when you're done. It's expensive but I've tried a number of chemicals including Zep's commercial extractor solution and nothing so far works like the Bissell stuff. I recommend the machine and the cleaner and would buy the same thing given the opportunity to do it over. We still need to buy the hose for cleaning the cars/truck. Well worth the investment, if you're looking go ahead and pull the trigger on the commercial model you'll be glad you did.

Easy to Use, Good for Refreshing Carpet, Not Deep Professional Cleaning
Iโm sharing my honest experience to help others understand what this machine is (and what it is not). Pros: โข Not very heavy compared to larger commercial carpet cleaners โข Easy to clean and maintain after use โข Simple and intuitive to operate โ no learning curve โข Convenient for regular maintenance and light cleaning Cons: โข This is not a truly professional-grade machine โข Compatible cleaning solutions are mild and non-aggressive โข It will not make your carpet look brand new โ it refreshes and improves appearance, but does not deeply restore heavily worn or stained carpet Overall: This carpet cleaner is a good option for homeowners or light-use situations. It works well for refreshing carpets, removing surface dirt, and maintaining cleanliness between deeper professional cleanings. If you expect a commercial-level deep clean or dramatic transformation, this is not the right machine. But for ease of use, maintenance, and regular upkeep, it performs well.

Best cleaner for home use
I spent a lot of time looking into this. I have expensive wool carpet and rugs I was told steam clean only by the carpet store. I read contradictory information on that online but everyone agreed hot water is bad for the fibers so I was not comfortable buying a steam extractor. I chose the BG 10 based on other recommendations. I used it yesterday and love it. Prosโฆ Lighter weight than the Rug Doctor so itโs easier to work with Easy to fill clean and dirty water tanks My BG10 will be clean every time I use it, as opposed to the dirty and smelly Rug Doctors I rented It works very well at its jobโฆ. Cleaning my carpets Leaves the carpet drier than the rented RDs. It pays for itself after the first cleaning of the carpets and rugs versus using a professional We have very hard water here and I believe that many cleanings over the years have left some calcium residuals on the fibers of the carpets that I replaced. Those fibers felt stiff and almost crusty after 15 cleanings. . It wasnโt dirt so I believe it was the calcium in the water. I use distilled water for cleaning the new carpet and did two separate rinse runs with it too. The carpet feels soft. There was zero perfume smell from the Bissell Woolite with Oxy cleaning solution after the rinses The water was still a little dirty even after the second rinse even though the carpets were only a year old, donโt get a lot of foot traffic, and looked clean. That tells me this machine works. I put a couple of fans on and the carpets were dry in about 3 hours. They smell great. If you want to protect your wool carpets and keep them clean, the BG10 will be a great purchase.

10/10 score
Great machine! Amazing how well itโs built. Lighter than expected. Simpler to use than expected. Functions at 10/10 score. The dirty water tank after rinsing looks brand new! They must have used some silicone compound to prevent dirt from sticking. The only thing was that the hose is extra $100. PS. After using it for about 10 minutes, I realized I hadnโt taken out cardboard piece where the suctioning is done. Despite that, the rugs looked amazingly cleanerโa testament to the power of this machine!

If you want clean carpets, this is the way to go...
The BigGreen arrived a week after I had just washed the carpets using our old household carpet cleaner, so I thought I'd give it a try in our daughter's room. When I went to empty the BigGreen in the bath tub, I was amazed at how dirty our carpet was. While the BigGreen does an excellent job of cleaning our carpets, there are a few Pros and Cons to the BigGreen: Pro: - Tanks very easy to fill, empty, and clean - Brushes on the bottom very easy to remove and clean - Power cord can easily be changed (long yellow extension cord that is included with the BigGreen) - Handle folds down for easy storage - And of course, nice clean carpets Cons: - No accessories included. So, if you plan on cleaning your car or if you have carpets on your stairs, you will need to purchase the hose separately. - Heavy - I found it difficult to maneuver Okay if you are just going backwards and forwards, turning is difficult and sometimes feels like the whole thing is going to tip over (especially if the top tank is full and bottom one is empty). In conclusion, this is the same carpet cleaner you see available for rent at many retail stores. It does an excellent job of cleaning carpets, and is a very good investment for anyone who has pets or kids and want to keep their carpet clean. I've used this a number of times for those "accidents" on the carpet. Very easy to setup and put away.

Commercial Carpet Washer - Fun Facts
Basically one of the best carpet washers on the market! It'll clean the filthiest carpets that haven't been washed in years and it'll remove dirt from even the cleanest carpets! This machine eats dirt like there's no tomorrow! This machine is great for a normal house, all the way to a big commercial environment and even if you own a carpet cleaning business. What can Bissell improve on, on this unit? Not much really... They've literally nailed it! The one little thing is, is that I'm a tall guy, so if the handle was half a foot taller would be nice. Carpet washing isn't a chore with this thing. It's actually pretty fun, lol.

A great buy
I used my machine today and I am amazed how great it works. I used to own another brand before but there is no comparison. It is a bit heave but the pay off is that it really dries the carpet well. In a couple of hours my carpet was dry. Considering it is winter that is pretty impressive.
