What can I say? worked great and it was cheap.

Quick takeaway: I can't imagine a situation where this would actually work. My cat takes half of a tiny pill on a regular basis. I bought this to replace a piller that I had purchased from our old vet's office, before we moved. That piller was never perfect, but I could usually get it to work by wrapping the pill half in a piece of pill pocket and stuffing it into the opening (which was too big to hold the pill half alone). Eventually it wore out, though. Looking for a new piller, I thought this one might actually be better than our old one because of the small opening. Finally, I thought, I can just put the pill half in without adding anything. Well, when I opened the package, I immediately had concerns. The plunger had sticky yellowish goo on it (probably from the manufacturing process), and the rubbery tip had excess material hanging off it. Nevertheless, I washed the whole thing and gave it a try. As of this writing, this product has worked on 0/4 attempts. The tiny pill half barely fits in the opening, and the plunger sticks so much when I try to give the pill that it makes a loud POP when I finally push it through. Even worse, though, is that the pill doesn't "shoot" out. It just sort of sticks to the rubbery tip and slowly falls off. I tried it once with the pill pocket trick, but then it was even worse. This product is awful. I don't know how it would work for anyone.

This is long enough to use easily for small pets. It is not as great for large dogs. The stick can be a little hard to get used to using. One hand on the stick, one opening the pet mouth, trying to move the plunger, it can be a bit awkward. Practice pressing the plunger before pilling your pet and you will get better at it. Be sure to land the pill in the very back of their throat. It might take two people, one to secure the pet and one to use the pill popper/open the mouth, etc. It would be even more useful if humans came with a third arm, but then we would not be able practice team building skills. This is a decently made tool, not really a long term use one, but I expect it to hold up for a few months of daily use. Good thing because the chihuahua rarely threatens bodily harm, but over pills, he does. I prefer to have my fingers as far from my teeth as possible while putting what is apparently a disgusting tasting pill down his throat. (Can't use food with this med!) Because he is very, very, VERY adept at moving a pill out of his mouth with his tongue and has more tongue strength than most body builders, this helps me get the pill right to the back of his throat.

These pillers are great to avoid having to shove my fingers into my cats' mouths to get them to swallow pills. They do tend to have varying lift spans (between 1 to 6 months) depending on how much your cat bites the tip and how much the silicon splits (over time). I have found that in 100% of the pillers the silicon will eventually start to tear and it reall vary on the specific unit. You can continuing using the piller after the silicon tears, but it can lead to a more common feeling of frustration with the entire process and it can cause the pills to fail to leave the piller upon depression of the plunger (this can happen in a non-torn piller, but it is significantly less likely to happen).

3 stars because it just won’t work on my dog. He still is able to spit the pill out. I’m sure it would work well on a dog that is more cooperative than mine. So the stars is not a reflection on the actual product.

If you have pets...this is something that you absolutely must have. Even if you don't have to give them medication all the time, you need this on hand, because you will eventually have to give them some type of medicine and you will wish you had this. It is just that amazing. I have to give my cat 3 different medications twice a day, and without this...it just wouldn't happen. The concept is simple. You place the pill in the flexible silicone tip, which you place in the pet's mouth, and then depress the plunger. This pops the pill into the back of the pet's throat and they then swallow the pill, none the wiser. They have no idea that they even swallowed a pill. I am not exaggerating. It may take a few times to get the technique down, but once you get it down, it is the absolute easiest way to administer medication. My cat never fell for the treats she could either smell the medicine or just didn't like the taste of the treats. With this, you don't have to worry about that. This is the second pet piller I have owned. This one is a little stiff, but I am confident that with some use it will work itself out. These hold up very well. The other one lasted through a year of twice daily medicine administrations, and 5 years of sporadic administrations prior to that. They are very durable.

This is very close to the pill gun that my vet sells, and I needed a replacement so I thought I'd give it a try. That being said, the quality is definitely not there. The tip is too firm in addition to having the slot cut off-center. This makes putting the pill inside very difficult. Additionally, the slot is too short. I ran into an issue where the pill kept bouncing out when trying to put it into the hole because of that combination of manufacturing decisions. If they rework this slightly it will be a much more functional product. In its current state it is frustrating to use and will fail. For a similar price you can purchase one from a local vet that works 100 times better and more reliably. I will be returning mine as I find those defects to be unreasonable for long term use. I'm sharing some photos and a video of this pill gun compared to another style (not the one from my vet). The other one is so bad it's basically trash, compared to this one that is sooo close to being really nice! The blue tip is this listing, and the white tip is the competitor.

When you need a pet piller, you usually need one right then—as was the case when I found myself bringing home my kitty from urgent care. With none for cats available at any of local pet stores or even the farm stores, I ordered this one in from Amazon. Understand I have given many pills to many cats over the years as we’ve rescued furbabies delivered by the cat distribution system. We had high quality pet pillers for years, but those are all back home on the east coast, not out here at the base with me. And this one is in no way up to the job—the blue tip to hold the pill was incredibly stiff, and barely cut open. It would be hard to use with either small pills (likely to get caught), or large pills—nearly impossible to get it to hold. And the plunger was very hard to use—it had stiff ribs at the base that made it very hard to pull backwards to load, and just hard to push in to dispense, sticking in place repeatedly. Giving my current kitty in need of care her meds is a bit analogous to wrestling an angry alligator, so I certainly don’t need to be fighting the pill popper just to get it to load and dispense the pill on cue. Returning and looking for a better version.

This was very disappointing. I bought to replace my old Veterinary medicine piller, looked the same. The mechanics of this one do not push the pill out...very poor design.

I have a 3Kg cat that is an alligator to pill. She is CKD and needs her pepcid EOD. Made the task way easier,

Fine for smaller pills but cannot handle anything very large.

I don’t know how to explain this well, but it doesn’t shoot the pill out. Maybe mine is faulty. There was a glue like substance in the inside tube part. I washed it out, but it doesn’t work. When you push on it there’s no pop on the end that shoots the pill out.
