Really sturdy hardware
These are beautifully machined and hefty brass swivels that spin easily. I was disappointed that it did not fit my original flagpole which has a diameter of 1-1/4โ. I loved the machining and beauty of its construction so I decided to get a new flagpole instead and to keep the swivels. I chose to use EMT conduit as a cheap DIY flagpole but even though these supposedly fit a 1โ flagpole it did not fit the 1โ EMT conduit. I then bought a 10 ft pole of 3/4โ conduit, cut to 6ft by the big box store for under $5, which worked perfectly. Even though the 3/4โ pole worked in my existing flag mount I decided to slip the flagpole into a tube of 1โ conduit I had lying around so it would look nicer in the mount. The 1โ conduit went into the flag mount first and was cut so that the actual lower swivel of the flagpole sat right on the top of it. I determined exactly where to place the lower swivel after experimenting with it in the wind to make sure the flag did not furl or tangle and was not too tight or too loose. When I got the location set I marked the corresponding line on the outer 1โ EMT conduit and cut it so that the swivel of the actual flagpole sat right on it. It looks fantastic and works great. To prettify my flagpole I sanded any rough areas then spray painted it with some Rustoleum metallic spray to a beautiful dark hammered bronze color. I also painted the outer 1โ pole. Since I didnโt have a flagpole cap or finier I bought a 3/4โ PVC cap (make sure itโs threaded) which fit snug into the end of the pole. Without the threads it will just slip off so make sure itโs threaded. I also spray painted the cap. The swivels seem to be working great and I am finally done with the cheap plastic stuff that keeps breaking and needing to be unfurled 7 times a day. See photos.

No more tangled flag.
Sick of your flag getting tied up around the poll. This is great quality, durable, easy to install & works!

Sold, high quality, classy and works so well.
I'm so glad I bought these brass spinners. I spent a lot of money on high quality flags and was so frustrated by the lack of options to fly the flag in a quality manner. So I purchased some nice wood poles and two sets of these spinners. The spinners are very high quality made of solid brass and the bearings are very smooth. The connector is also made of brass. The two spinners hold the edge of the flag in tension which makes it look nice, and restricts motion to rotation about the pole. The flags flaps beautifully in the breeze and I love watching them not tangled!! These things are amazing. Also, they shine in sun and are beautiful. With age they will have a nice patina. I couldn't be happier!! Great job Stanwood!!

Great flag pole spinners
The spinners on my flag pole were cheap, plastic ones that stripped and slipped when their screws were tightened. Made flying half-staff difficult. Found these and they're great. Super high quality, spin freely (ball bearings), and I'm sure will be durable (solid brass). And with a little care, the screws will grip and shouldn't strip. They're pricey, but they're worth it.

I went with brass instead of aluminum, lasted 2 years 9 months before failing
Price was cheaper but more importantly brass won't corrode like aluminum does and is more resilient to the outdoors. Just remember once you install the top spinner you need to attach the flag to both spinners and then PULL THE FLAG TIGHT as the pull the bottom spinner down before tightening it. You can see that in some of the folks photos, the spinners are above and below the flag on the pole, otherwise the flag will eventually catch or wrap around the pole a little and then furl up. 4-15-2020 update: Still working, we had some freezing rain for a day and the top spinner was frozen and not moving but twisted with a little force and it was working again. It has stayed outside in some pretty decent winds here in colorado and it looks like the top bearing ear where the clip goes through the hole and clips to the flag is bent a little bit. Also the two clips are getting pulled apart because of the wind storms. They aren't connected and have a gap of about 1/4" between the ends. I'll probably try to find some small stainless steel threaded quick link (like a link to a chain sort of thing) to use to hold the flag. Update May 1 2022: So I had these up for about 2 years 9 months minus the days I'd pull the flag pole and bring inside when the wind gets up over 40 mph or so here in Colorado. The one clip wore through and fell apart and the eyelet holes in the spinner part are roughly 1/2 worn through. Mind you it did work pretty good and I only had to physically pull the flag off the pole a couple times as a breeze kind of flopped it over. The wind surely would have straightened it out the next time it blew though. So the wind here blows in some way or fashion probably every day so the flag is constantly moving. So while these are pretty good, stainless would be a more durable option if they had it. I think this is better than the aluminum as far as wearing through. I might grab some small stainless threaded quicklink chain links and string this back up and see how long before the brass spinner eyelets get worn the rest of the way through.

Only way to go, ball bearing swivels
If you want your flag to fly and not get tangled around the pole or the roof of your house, you need ball bearing swivel like these. Tried cheaper type without ball bearing and had nothing but trouble. You need a good strong pole when using these, no cheap 1/2 aluminum pole. With a good pole and these swivel, you flag will fly proudly and you will be happy with this product.
