Dimensions listed in product specifications are wrong thankfully. The wand is about 16 inches long, a little short and the only drawback for this great toy. The best part is the sturdy fleece fabric that is securely attached to the wand. It is around 46 inches long and 3/4 inch wide, and it definitely dances with a flick of the wrist. For the price it appears well made. If it lasts a month it will be a great entertainment value. Most importantly, it wears out kittens so you can get a good night’s sleep.

I can’t explain it but this is the best cat toy ever made. Every cat likes this better than any other cat toy. It’s durable too. Mine has survived through 7 cats so far. The 3 who are left like it so much I bought another one.

Your cat should have two kinds of toys, the kindshe can play with when you're not involved, and another kind that is interactive between you and them. This is the best one I found in the second category. Simple, no moving parts except if you make it move, safe, really gets her going. Sometimes she follows me around the house carrying it because she wants me to play with her, it's cute and extremely funny.

This is the best toy ever for your cat

My cat has a lot of mental energy & aggressive drive, & she gets bored with really toys fast. She's hard to buy for because once she's figured a toy out, she stops playing with it altogether, & she wants to move on to something else more challenging. And when I bought her one of these for Christmas this year - she finally found one. I had a feeling my cat would like this, but I didn't realize how much or for how long. She plays longer with this Cat Charmer than she does with anything else she has (with the one exception of her TurboScratcher) - at perhaps 45-90 minutes per play session. My arms tire out, before she does. She is an indoor cat & a redomesticated feral stray who really needs a good outlet for aggressive energy & apartment boredom, & she's found one in this toy. Whenever she sees it, she wants to play with it. If I dance around the room with it like that Red Hot Chili Peppers video "Give It Away Now" - she is awestruck & goes wild. She chases it in the air, over the floor, across the furniture, & it is a long time before she ever gets bored. For her, that is a real change of pace. This toy may be great for inspiring exercise sessions in cats who are managing weight issues & become reluctant to play. One nice feature about this toy is its wand is made of a really hard, translucent material that is resistant to teeth marks & breaks. If she accidentally gets a hold of it in her mouth, the wand isn't badly marred like her other wand toys. The rubber attachment that holds the bunting material to the wand is more fragile, however, so I don't let my cat chew it because her teeth will tear it apart. You know those kids in grade school who loved to chew pens...? That's my cat, & she can't be left to her own devices with wands. If I could though, I'd give it 4.5 Stars because at this time, the customer cannot choose the color of their Charmer. They really need to add a color option. The ad pictures feature several different rainbow Charmers, pink & purple ones, & a lot of lovely colors. For my order, however... I think the Whole Healthy Pets' fulfillment dept. saw I lived in the Southwest, & decided to send me "Fiesta" colors..... Mine has a lot of heavy black, deep crimson, lemon yellow, cheesy orange, & lime green, with hints of royal blue...on a blue wand. I personally hate these colors - & most of them are colors my cat can't see anyways (cats see greens & blues, & the rest register as shades of gray). Maybe guys might like these sporty colors. Dunno. However, because of the stark, discordant contrast between these many loud, dark, clashy colors - I think this item looks like "a continually moving 'pile of stuff', whipping about in an endlessly moving stream" - & for her, that works. What I don't like about it may be why she finds it so stimulating. So my one complaint is she likes it better than I do, & I would have chosen nicer looking colors to match my place. Overall... Unlike so many I've bought, this toy was well worth the money. I really hate the colors, but my cat loves it - & it was a huge hit & not a dud gift this Christmas. WORD OF CAUTION: You WILL have to SUPERVISE your cat while playing with this toy! Do NOT leave your cat alone with it, unattended. I cannot stress this enough. My cat is pretty good about not eating inedible objects, but my last cat was a Nightmare - "foreign object ingestion" was his passion, & if left alone with this, he'd have made it his primary goal in life to eat it, & would have been in surgery at the vet to have it removed within 24 hours. No joke. So please store this toy in a *safe place* where your cat cannot get to it, when you're not playing together. I hang mine up high across over-the-door clothes hooks, where I'll see it all the time, know exactly where it is, & it reminds me to spend time with my cat playing with it.

My cat loves this thing. I have other Cat Dancer toys and in particular the one with a wire and cardboard on the end. She flips out over that toy, and it hones her hunting skill and speed. This one is different as she engages it in a different way. It is more of a catch and tussle game of rolling around with it and tangling herself up in the fabric. The price is great, and she loves to have me play with her at bedtime on our bed. The rough and tumble is a great way to burn energy for a good night sleep leaving us undisturbed until the morning. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was I did not receive the toy color it shows in the picture. The one I got was a black and white zebra stripe. It's okay but would have preferred the color they show for example. A bit of false advertising I'd say, but still love their cat toys no matter this small issue.

So the first time I purchased this cat charmer a couple of years ago, it was for my cat. It worked awesome then and now, even though he's a pretty lazy disinterested adult cat, it is one of the only toys I've purchased for him that will still engage him. He used to really run back and forth and chase it back in the day, and even though now he's gotten fatter and lazier, he'll still try and catch it with his paws and mouth while lying on his back. He'll occasionally even run after it. Other toys I've bought for him that have a shorter tassel don't interest him ---I like that the tassel on this toy is really long, cause it really gives him something to chase. But the main reason I'm writing this review is actually because of my dog. Almost a year ago I got a pomeranian puppy (approx 7 lbs) , and this toy is his FAVORITE toy. He will chase this endlessly without losing interest for literally 30 minutes before he gets too exhausted to run anymore. I'm not home nearly enough, and he is the most hyper and energetic dog I've ever met (maybe partly because he's still a puppy). So this toy is the best invention ever for those days when I get home from work late and i'm exhausted and don't have the energy to play with him long enough to tire him out. And since it just requires your arm, it's a lot less physically exhausting than running with him (I would have to be Usain Bolt to have the speed and stamina to keep up with him). It's a great length, and I like that the felt/plush material is soft so it doesn't hurt him if it hits him on accident. It seems to be very well made, and very affordable too. *note: I will say that I have gone through at least 6 of these since getting my dog, but I don't think its a reflection of the toy's quality-- it's more because my dog will chew through the material (separating the plastic wand part from the tassel/toy part) in 5 minutes if he is able to grab the toy from me and I take my eye off of him for just a few minutes (And my puppy chews through anything and everything). I've never had an issue with the durability with this with my cat. But it has been a lifesaver for me (a first time puppy-owner) and my puppy really loves this toy more than any of the 300 other toys I've used to play with him, which is why I have repeatedly purchased this item and will likely continue to repurchase it indefinitely. So anyway, this review was probably totally irrelevant and unhelpful to most of the people reading reviews (ie cat owners) for this toy, but bottom line: this toy works great for my cat, as well as for my dog. If you have a lazy cat like me, you should buy this. If you have a small (<10lbs) hyper dog that doesn't get discouraged by seemingly impossible to "win" games that involve endlessly chasing things, then you really should buy this toy.

I am amazed at how strong and durable this is. Even though my cat pulls and tugs at it with full claws and teeth, this product is indestructible! She has gotten tired of a lot of the other toys i've gotten for her but this one is an all time favorite for her, no matter what time of day. An excellent product!

We have two cats, sisters, but very different. One runs around chasing anything she can. Marie, not so much. But she loves her Cat Dancer, and does indeed dance around trying to capture the tempting twisty tail and delights in her successes. The tail is relatively wide, unexpectedly long, and a bit stretchy. It's ideal for capture efforts, and is big enough that it's a satisfactory prey object once it's "brought down". However, the active cat has shown no interest. We've had it for about a month.
