CURT 13409 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2" Receiver for Subaru Forester

I purchased this CURT Class 3 hitch for my Subaru Forester, and I am extremely impressed with the quality and fit. The best part by far was the ease of installation. Since it features a vehicle-specific bolt-on design, everything lined up perfectly with the factory holes—no drilling or major modifications were needed. I was able to get it mounted securely in my driveway with basic tools in no time at all. Once installed, the concealed main body looks fantastic. You really only see the 2-inch receiver sticking out, so it doesn't ruin the clean look of the SUV's rear end. With a 3,500 lb towing capacity, it feels incredibly sturdy and is more than capable of handling a heavy-duty bike rack or a utility trailer. It's a Curt. That should be all you need to know to convince you to buy it over everyone else. Installation was so easy, it should be illegal. First off, they provide videos here, YouTube and their company website, showing you how to install the hitch. The hardware is simple, straight forward and strong. Next, the fishing wires are absolutely foolproof, making it all but impossible to make a mistake. And since this is the second Curt hitch I've installed, I could tell they made the fishing wires even better! They added big, blunt caps on the end of the wires, so you don't poke your eye out while fiddling around under the vehicle! And really, the fishing wires are what make it so easy. I didn't have anyone to help me install it, so I was laying on the ground, with the hitch on my chest. I threaded the wires through the bolt holes on the hitch, then lifted it into place. The wires guide the hitch, and also keep the bolts from bumping up and getting lost in the frame! That's such a helpful detail! This is a company that LISTENS to their customers! Easy to install

Perfect for my 2026 Subaru Forester. Easy install.

Installed on a 2025 Subaru forester hybrid without any issue. Quality is great, as others have mentioned, the hitch easily smashed is way through the shipping box. Fortunately, no significant damage occurred.

Went to replace a hitch that was a Class 2 hitch. So all the hard stuff was done. Took off the old hitch, removed all old hardware, installed new hardware into frame, put the bolts on one side and went to put up the other side and ..... the holes are about 1.25" away from the bolts! So I'm trying to use a 30,000 pound rather strap to pull the sides together so I can get the bolts in the hole. I read other reviews saying the same thing and being that I installed hitches as my job for a few years, I was thinking people were complaining about having to press on one side a little to get the holes to line up. But no, they are so far off, you have to push the sides together about 1.5" to get the bolts to pass through the holes. Never have I had this issue. Unfortunately will not be buying the Curtis brand again. Just too much work. It came in a nice a nice box, and packed nicely but unfortunately this is a company that should have allowed the hitch to be bashed up during shipping, maybe then it would line up. The finish is great, but when I pressed the sides together, stress cracks formed in the paint..... so the finish is crap now anyways. But I needed it on now, so no use in returning it. After installing everything tight, I notice it sits over 1.5" away from the bottom plastic. The other hitch I had was tight up against the plastic. So I bought a new ball mount figuring it would be the same .... but nope. So now I have to buy another ball mount to make my trailer level. Not the worse thing but every little bit of clearance helps on these lower vehicles. Try a diffrent brand.

Aloha! This is my 3rd Curt Hitch for my 3rd Subaru Forester over the years. Great product, fair price, and SOLID! One thing that upsets me is that all three times I ordered the Curt hitch, the packaging came delivered literally shredded. This time, I had to take a picture of it because the box was busted open and the hitch was hanging halfway through with the exposed portion scratched up. The local, scrappy, all tatted up tough guy UPS driver was even laughing about it because it was so funny: "your new, da kine, all buss -up, eh? Brah!!" I know, its a hitch that goes under the car, and is expected to get dinged up, but I shouldn't have to reach for the can of rust-0-leum to repaint a brand new "OUT OF THE BOX" (Ha! Ha!) product. What's even more baffling is that I went back to read the reviews to see if other customers had the same problem and sure enough, there are lots of complaints about the half-assed packaging. Get with it! Easy to fix the packaging problem. 5 stars for the product, but negative 5 stars for the crappy packaging.

arrived on time with hardware intact, much appreciated Follow the direction and watch a couple of online videos. lifted the rear wheels and placed on 4x4 blocks for added room to work when you drill the "fish-hole", ensure both block and carriage bolt fit chose to lower three exhaust hangers and use strap for support mainly a one person install, a second person is helpful (needed) to lift hitch and thread fish lines. install time about two hours from lifting wheels to tool clean-up
