Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead, two masterminds of classic, middle-grade fiction come together to craft this magical story about the enduring power of friendship. It’s been five years since Livy and her family have visited Livy’s grandmother in Australia. Now that she’s back, Livy has the feeling she’s forgotten something really, really important about Gran’s house. It turns out she’s right. Bob, a short, greenish creature dressed in a chicken suit, didn’t forget Livy, or her promise. He’s been waiting five years for her to come back, hiding in a closet like she told him to. He can’t remember who―or what―he is, where he came from, or if he even has a family. But five years ago Livy promised she would help him find his way back home. Now it’s time to keep that promise. Clue by clue, Livy and Bob will unravel the mystery of where Bob comes from, and discover the kind of magic that lasts forever. Praise for Bob : "Authors Mass and Stead team up for this irresistible tale of magic, mystery, and friendship that poses timeless questions about identity and belonging . . .a tribute to the power of storytelling.." ― Publishers Weekly, starred review " A perfectly paced plot, supported by secondary characters to whom readers will relate and luminous artwork by Gannon, fill out a story that readers will eagerly embrace . A must-have. . .this novel delights." ― School Library Journal, starred review Review: Best Book! - This book was the cutest thing I have ever read! I read it first, as I loved When You Reach Me and enjoyed The Lost Library. This book is better than those. It is a sweet, simple story that has captivating characters. I finished it in a sitting and then ordered two copies of the book to have each of my kids read. My son is 10 and my daughter is 12 and they both loved it as well. Then we passed it on to our neighbor who is 60 and she loved it. It’s all around a nice story, making you laugh out loud at times, get teary eyed at other points, and keeps you wanting to figure out what Bob is. I’d recommend this as a read aloud at any age, but enjoyable to read by age 7 on up. Review: Wonderful Story. - Wonderful book. My grandson left this at my house and I picked it up and read it over the weekend. It is such a great story, very touching. This is a book I would have loved to read between the 3rd and 6th grade. Good vocabulary words, a little about Australia. This is be a Christmas gift for my nephew.

Get it
This is a wonderful story! My daughter’s name is Olivia so I thought this would be a fun way to finish out our homeschool year. We read two chapters a day and this is an easy ready for a second grader that is a proficient reader. Such a fun mystery to read!

Lovely story of friendship!
Today I read BOB, a truly delightful story by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead. I loved the back-and-forth narration between Livy and the mysterious Bob, who both have delightful voices and personalities. This was a gentle, sweet story, but I was also compelled to keep reading. I had to know the mystery of Bob’s origin! There are just enough details to give the reader a mental image, and to keep younger readers engaged, which also allows readers to draw some conclusions on their own as the story draws to its climax, and the solution to the mystery. Clues are doled out gradually, and the pace is very satisfying. While I think this book would be enjoyed at many levels, I do think 3rd-5th graders would probably appreciate it most. I can see it as a fun readaloud, a Book Club choice, and well-loved as an independent read. It is a unique story that I just adored, and can’t wait to share with readers!

Cutest book ever!
Call me crazy but this kids book is an absolute favorite of mine, and I’m not a kid! So, who is it for? —Anyone who likes amusing, adorable, inspiring stories. Possibly the cutest character ever written is Bob!

wonderful story
I found this on a best books of 2018 list on goodreads and was intrigued by the description and the artwork. My 7yr old son and I are reading it together and he loves the way its written and is excited to find out more about Bob. The art work is even better then expected, and story is just detailed enough for the recommended age group. My son reads at an M-O and this is about that level, though I find the chapters a bit long for out loud reading for him so we alternate a bit. I highly recommend this book.
