How long is the pendulum?

Large*15/16" (24 mm) shaft length*9-5/8" (244 mm) pendulum length*2-3/4" (70 mm) pendulum diameter

can I use a longer pendulem? up to 22 inch?

you can do whatever you want to do!!!!

Did you use this to replace the mechanism in a key wound clock?

No, my clock was a battery operated clock with sentimental value. It would probably devalue a key wound clock considerably.

how do you tighten the dial fixing nut when it is not a regular nut it just has a couple of slots?

The nut holds the mechanism to the face plate. You press on the hour and minute hand. The second hand fits in the slots
