I had originally ordered a cheap knockoff brand, because I was told to save my money for the more critical tools. That was probably wise council, but a good movement holder is absolutely vital. For the longest time I thought having the movement flip out of the holder was just something I had to deal with, given the tools' design, but I couldn't be more wrong. I decided to order this Bergeon after the last movement I was working on flipped upside down and out of the holder making a mess of my project. I looked for a bunch of fixed type movement holders and didn't like the reviews either, so as a last resort, I decided to try a Bergeon first. Wow, what a huge difference. I actually can't tell the difference visually between the Bergeon and the knockoff. Both feel the same, are the same size and look the same, but the Bergeon will hold the movement firmly, while the knockoff can't hold anything. Do yourself a favor and just buy a good holder out of the gate. There's way too much frustration and risk with anything less.

I purchased this because my cheaper movement holder was to small for size 12 pocket watches. Wow what a difference, I am new and thought that movements often slipped from holders if pressed to hard. But this one holds them rock solid. It is more expensive than the cheap brands, but a flipped movement means springs and screws go airborne with out a parachute = tears before bedtime.

Quality product.

It’s an industry standard for a reason. Just buy it, if you’re looking at this item then you’ll find use for it.

I was wondering if this was going to be able to hold my smaller movements and I am very pleased that it does.

Dopo aver provato un portamovimenti cinese, con cui ho visto sgusciate via il movimento come una saponetta mentre lo stavo stringendo per fissarlo. Bene dopo essermi ripreso dallo spavento, il movimento fortunatamente non ha subito danni. Il portamovimenti cinese invece si, in quanto gli si è abbattuta contro la furia di Thor e il suo martello. Bene dopo averlo distrutto per bene (di modo che non mi venisse la voglia di riutilizzarlo) ho acquistato quello della Bergon. Costa un po’ di più (ma neanche tanto) ma si è sicuri di non fare danni.
