Advanced ACE Spelling Dictionary

I work with children and young adults with dyslexia. This version is appropriate for older users and for the majority of words, works well. The user has to identify the vowel sound in a word (by sound and not spelling). Words with 'a-e' as in make; 'ai' as in train; 'eight' as in eight all come under the long 'a' sound (as opposed to the short sound in cat). Once the vowel sound has been identified, follow the line in the index table to the first consonant sound in the word. Go to the page indicated and identify the number of syllables in the word you are looking for and find the word in the list.The dictionary is very easy to use once you have been shown how it works and for people whose spelling makes conventional dictionaries useless in many instances, this is a tremendous help. It is a spelling dictionary and does not give word definitions.

This dictionary was recommended to me after I had undergone a dyslexia assessment,After a few minutes I figured it out and was playing about till I understood. the best bit was if the word sounded like it started with like physical and you though It was solely with an F look under the f there it was with the “sound” But the correct spelling of ph underneathWould recommend this book to anyone even beginner spellers probably the Lower one but still.

This book is a more advanced version than the basic Ace dictionary. I use it in my classroom and it is the most useful tool for my children who find spelling a challenge.

What can I say if you have a child who is starting high school or in high school and has a good knowledge of their sounds and finds it difficult to spell due to a specific reason such as Dyslexia or Irlens or who just finds it hard to grasp spelling this is for you. FANTASTIC

But I prefer the original and this has different page numbers so the worksheet book was no use with this. Also in my accent basking shark is not pronounced AR for both words
