This volume presents an original commentary for Al-Tadhkirah (The Memorandum), a legal primer for Islamic Law according to the later scholars of the Shฤfiสฟฤซ school by Ibn al-Mulaqqin, an Egyptian scholar who died in 804AH/1401CE. The commentary introduces essential evidence for the core issues of Islamic Law from its primary sources (the Quran, Sunnah, legal analogy, and scholarly consensus). The commentary is based on Ibn al-Mulaqqinโs legal commentaries (Sharแธฅ Mukhtaแนฃar al-Tabrฤซrzฤซ, Khulฤแนฃat al-fatฤwฤซ, and สฟUjฤlat al-muแธฅtฤj) and works on legal hadiths (Tuแธฅfat al-muแธฅtฤj, Mukhtaแนฃar al-Badr al-munฤซr, and Al-Badr al-munฤซr).The Evident Memorandum helps explain why Islamic Law includes specific topics and the essential evidence behind the Shฤfiสฟฤซ schoolโs opinion. It will be most beneficial to readers who are already familiar with Islamic Law and jurisprudence. Review: The best Shafi'i fiqh manual to appear in English since Reliance of the Traveller! - The Evident Memorandum is by far the best Shafi'i fiqh manual to appear in the English language since Reliance of the Traveller. The original text is from the 14th century Shafiโi jurist and hadith master Ibn al-Mulaqqin's Tadhkirah fi'l Fiqh al-Shafi'i which was originally designed for novices studying fiqh. The work has been enhanced for contemporary audiences by Shaykh Musa Furber with commentary and evidence drawn from Ibn al-Mulaqqinโs other works. The Evident Memorandum helps explain why Islamic law includes specific topics and provides essential evidence behind much of the rulings from the Shafiโi school of jurisprudence. Review: Very informative - Love this book with all the evidences for the Shafi'i madhab

This is a masterpiece of English Islamic legal texts...
I have actually purchased this book, but through the Canadian website. This book is absolutely amazing and the author does not get nearly enough credit for what he has accomplished with this work. It should be printed in hardback and for twice what is being sold to now for no other reason than to make people realize who much work obviously went into its publication. The lucidity of his translation is almost unparalleled among English Islamic literature and the amount of information it contains is mind-blowing. It is indispensable for anyone who follows the Shafi`i School and is essentially the follow-up Nuh Ha Mim Keller hinted at in his introduction to Reliance of the Traveler. Like Nuh Ha Mim Keller, Musa Furber has established himself as the standard for which all other Islamic texts in English should strive to be.

Great Work
The overall work is great! However, I have noticed that the author - in many of his works of translation - is in the habit of using complex "technical" words and words that are of the 'Shakespeare Era' in nature. This makes the reading a little difficult to comprehend for the modern student, please consider your audiences a little more. The Arabic text is actually very plain and simple, its completely unnecessary to translate it into something burdensome. Overall, great job, I enjoyed studying the book.

Very Insightful and beneficial
Most conspicuous upon first seeing and reading through the book, is the sheer effort and resolve it must of took to compile this together. Would definitely recommend for those studying intermediate level of fiqh and would make it a definite purchase
