The best solderless kit on the market
I've used several different solderless cable kits (Lava Cable ELC Ultramafic solderless, Planet Waves) to set up my pedal board now and I have to say that George L's are the best. I've come to this conclusion by comparing all the different features of cable kits that are important to guitar players: Plug profile Cable thickness Ease of assembly Quality of sound Looks George L's plugs are small but they're not the smallest. There are other cable kits out there with lower profile plugs than George L's. Having said that they're about half an inch tall and a little less than half an inch in diameter. Not as small as Lava cable plugs but way smaller than anything from Planet Waves. Plenty small for most pedal board purposes. George L's beats all other cable kits that I've used in the cable thickness and ease of assembly categories. The cable itself is really thin which really saves precious space on your pedal board when you have to connect several different pedals. The cables are also really easy to put together. Just cut the cable to desired length, push in the cable in and screw in the cap. Done. This was much easier than Lava cable's solderless kit which involved stripping cables, pushing them through special caps, making sure the shielding doesn't touch the cable and a few additional steps. As far as quality of sound, I didn't do any extensive testing but I didn't hear any discernible difference in my guitar tone between George L cables or any other cables. Finally, they look cool! This isn't that important to me but it might be for other guitar players out there. The shiny nickel plugs with the screw on caps look cool on your board. The kit comes with rubber caps that encase the entire plug but I purposely left those off because I like the look of the shiny nickel on my pedal board. Bottom line, just buy George L's. These aren't the cheapest ones on the market but they are the best in my opinion. The few extra dollars are worth it for the quality of this kit.

So good
These cables are all they're cracked up to be. They are very easy to put together and they really do "...take a blanket off your amp." I was never one to think that patch cables make any difference in your tone until I put these on. I ran into a grounding issue with most / all of my cheaper patch cables I had on my board. Upon doing some research it would be cheaper for me to buy these cables plus some extra plugs than to get more of the cheaper ones that were already made (because of the amount of pedals I use.) I'm so glad I got these! Even with the amount of pedals I use, I found that 10 feet of cable is more than enough (I have some left over). I love that you can make your cables to your own length. This allows for less signal loss with extra cable length and it allows you to angle the cables any way you need them to be. If your board is like mine, your cables will certainly end up having the right angle jacks going at different angles. These cables make it possible and very easy to do that! Putting these together is so easy. No need to look videos up on YouTube or anything, just simply follow the directions the cables come with. Videos will tell you to strip the cables or to turn them 1/2 way once you get them in. No need. Simply have a clean cut end of the cable, put it in the middle of the connector and push down until it connects solidly (you will feel a little snap). Then you bend the cable down just enough to get the back screw on the jack (don't make the 90 degree angle with your thumb as you might disconnect the cable from the inside of the jack - the screw will connect everything as you connect it). Once the screw cable is made, make sure you test it. Lots of people will say that you should get a cable tester and all this, but if you just plug it into an amp and see if it makes sound that's all you need. The design of the cables will make them grounded so there's really no need to test if it is grounded properly. All in all, these cables are very easy to make, they sound very good and they make your pedal board look very neat and clean. I will definitely be using George L's from now on!

Too expensive. And fantastic.
Yes, they're expensive. Too expensive, frankly. But I continue to buy them because they're fantastic. Easy to put together, flexible, and very little capacitance. (Some people say too bright. But when you're stringing 10 pedals together, I'm not sure what "too bright" means). I've tried other solderless kits - like Planet Waves - and really like those too. And I've tried other brands (which I will not name here) that were close to impossible to put together without some sort of short in them. George L's are easy - and they just work. I would recommend two things: 1. Use some loctite on the threads. (I can't remember what I use. Some loctite "thread locker" of some sort). People have reported that the little screw on metal caps may eventually vibrate loose. Never has happened to me. 2. Put the little rubber/plastic "cap" (provided) over the threaded screw on cap when you're done. I think that's meant to keep the parts from vibrating loose as well. And it's a little aesthetic thing. This is just a "you get what you pay for" investment. Too expensive - and I'll buy them every time.

A little more money but I found it worth it
These are much more costly than alternatives. However, I've tried others in the $20-$30 range and the set up on the George L's is easier by orders of magnitude. I've even disassembled and reused a few times and they still work great. The knob height could be slimmer but I just got creative to fit all my pedals on the board and I'm happy with the outcome. In exchange for paying a little more you'll get a quality build, easy set up, and a great tidy look. Also I haven't experienced any noise issues with 9 pedals using isolated power.

Cant get better than George L's
Setting up a new pedalboard and decided to splurge on a few sets of these cables after reading many reviews. I've been using Planet Waves cable sets in the past. The cable itself is smaller in diameter than normal audio cable and very pliable - great for clean and easy routing. The plugs are high quality and provide a very solid connection when plugged in. I was able to get 10 cables (2 sets) up and running within about 15 minutes. Although it is simple to put them together once you get the hang of it, I would strongly suggest using a multi-tester (or cable tester) to ensure you've put them together correctly before you wire up your board - easier to test than to troubleshoot. I had to take 2 of the cables apart and set them up again - not a big deal, but as I said - test first. I'll be back for more!

George L's Just Work
This is the only soderless patch cable I will use on a board because of the flexibility it adds. The audio cable itself is extremely high quality, physically thin and flexible for reaching around your board, and low capacitance to allow your guitar's high mids and trebles to sing. The connectors are constructed well and it is easy to get a noiseless connection as long as you learn to cut the cable clean. This cable will give you the same level of clarity as a soldered patch cable, but with the flexibility to re-size your cable lengths when you inevitably change your board.

Awesome but be smart during setup.
The idea behind this kit is that you arrange your pedals (on your pedalboard) in any order you want. You then get to custom-size your cable connections to allow for the proper pedal order/cable connections. So go ahead and put your wah on one end and distortion on the other; you just simply run a longer piece of wire to connect them where you want in your signal chain. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they don't include tips or real instructions of any kind. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache: 1. Once you're satisfied with your pedal placement, it's time to cut cables. I like to loop mine underneath or side-by-side, short and out of the way. 2. You stick open end of the cable into the jack and press firmly in (use just your hands), bend at a 90 degree angle, screw on the screwcap. You can then put on your little rubber George L cap. 3. Eyeball or measure the other end of that wire until the next pedal connection. Use a straight, sharp razor to cleanly cut. Since I'm new to this stuff, I used a sharp wire cutter and still lost signal. Carefully used a razor and was fine. After cutting, follow step 2 again. 4. Once you have your first connection, hook it up through your guitar and amp to make sure you're getting a signal. It crossed my mind to do this, wish I had! 5. Repeat step 4 as you add pedals to avoid missing the one little cable that wasn't cut right or isn't connected properly. About a third of my cables weren't done right. This all might be common knowledge for some of you out there, but I thought it best to give my thoughts. The George L web site doesn't have an instructions/FAQ up just yet, and sometimes you're just not near Youtube to get that info when you're ready to work. Definitely get this kit! I'm impressed with how nice and quiet the cables are. They're a little pricey, but overall I'm very pleased. Won't go back to little patch cables ever again!

Too Expensive? Complain Away - TOTALLY Worth It!
I just assembled and wired up the pedal board for one of the bands i'm in (the METAL one), and the George Ls make the new rig absolutely vibrate with connectivity - it's like being plugged directly into the amp with a very short cable! Add a tiny drop of blue lock tight to the threads, don't over-tighten, and you'll have amazing sounding cables that will remain maintenance free for years. WHY would you carefully curate an arsenal of killer effects pedal and then wire them together with cheap junk? Duh! George L cables are a tone chaser's dream. BUY them!
