I leave the lid off once it's open. i can't say exactly how long they last but it's several months. The smaller size lasts at least 3-4 months, conservatively. If i recall correctly, i think they last a little less well in really humid spots (like basements).

can you rejuvenate if put in the sun?

Cannot be rejuvenated. The sponge dissolve in the container to a dry hard cake. The product does absorb order very well.

Does this neutralize perspiration odors on fabrics?

This is for removing odors from the air. I keep one in the closet where I keep my cats litter box & it works well in that space

gasoline smell in car after small spill in carpet?

I highly doubt it. If you really want to get rid of the smell, carpet clean it and then use ozone. Ozone will completely eliminate any smell and one portable ozone machine on amazon for $50 lasted me over 2 years
