How wide do the jaws open at the tips?

It is round about 4in. but it makes no sense to work with this wide open jaws. it is not possible to grab something with this wide open jaws.

The handle material appears to be the same as on Klein tools. Surely they have to be somewhat insulated, right?

It is definitely insulated. More than the plastic dip from Klein tools. But they are not technically voltage rated
