About me: I purchased these scissors myself. I am not being compensated for this review, I am not a professional barber and my goal with this review is to provide a potential customer with an honest and unbiased review. What I like: The previous version did not have the rubber bumper between the finger-holes. This small piece of rubber gives feedback and a louder audible "click" at the conclusion of the cut. Unchanged from the previous model, the matte finish has a physical tackiness that ensures good control if user's hands get wet. The sheath (unchanged) is essential for protecting the tool when not in use. Lastly, customer service. Prior to purchasing this variant, I e-mailed Zeus asking about sharpening options and whether I could get a discount if they couldn't sharpen my pair. I received a personal response within two days. addressing all my questions. I was offered a discount since this model can never be sharpened. For more on that, see below. What I don't like: Dovo is no longer the manufacturer of this product. (I don’t remember the name of the company Zeus currently utilizes to make these scissors. I was not familiar with the company.) The changes the company made are: The micro-serrations are now SUSTANCIALLY less pronounced. When holding them with my eyes closed, the blade of my old scissors feels more serrated than the new set. Micro serrations help with precision (something super important when cutting individual hairs). The downside of Micro-serrated scissors- they cannot be sharpened. They're too small for any tool to sharpen between the high and low points. Once they wear down, you must buy a new set. I hate the wider blade (see pics.) As you can see, the Dovo version (top of pic #1 and #2) had a much narrower blade and at the end of the cut stroke, the blades themselves came to a sharper point. The new design compromises accuracy when trying to divide your target hair from the innocent by standards hovering around him. Finally, the finger holes are wider (pic #3 right side). I wear a size med-large glove and the Dovo version sat perfectly- at the base of my fingernails. The current version now sits at the start of my thumb knuckle. I know, this sounds like I'm nit-picking, but that one centimeter of difference took away so much of my control. For the Manscaper, I don’t think this will be a deal breaker, for any professionals reading this, buy them but “try them on for size” before bringing them to work. In conclusion, I like Zeus Products. I have two of their boar’s hair beard brushes and enjoy their shampoos and skin care products. But, at $60.00 they missed the mark on these scissors. I returned them and for $25 more, I’m going to see what Joewell and Jaguar have to offer.
