POWER UNIT FOR PREVAL SPRAYER (4-PACK)

Sprayed basic Rustoleum "stops rust" oil-based paint thinned with acetone. The paint was my own mixture of royal blue, hunter green, and aluminum to mimic an original Ford-Lincoln color from the 1960s for use in engine bay and trunk (would have paid ten times the amount for automotive paint, with no guarantee that the color was right). Excellent results. In my case, two parts acetone with one part paint in hot weather was perfect: no bumps, no running, very fine spray. It is a tool. You must have patience and find your own method.

I have used this product before and had great success, so when the time came to paint more air vents I sought out a more economical way to buy these aerosol cans. Way cheaper on Amazon and I bought a four pack. Four cans were way more than I needed to finish my job. All four cans failed. Out of four cans I was only able to spray one coat onto the louvres of one vent. They wouldn’t even suck up water. The aerosols would only empty themselves and even back spray on their own. I had some success with a hot wet towel wrapped around the aerosol, but again I did not get much paint through these cans. Waste of time and money. I will never buy again and I suggest you save yourselves the headache. I bought a mini paint sprayer for my pancake compressor at Harbor Freight for ~$16. Test run looks amazing so going to try that tomorrow.

Have used Preval sprayers for decades. Works well but not perfectly. Just used it to touch-up the single stage paint on a car. Finish had a lot of orange peel and had to be wet sanded and buffed. I wish the company developed a more powerful unit and adopted a fan spray.

Great for small jobs and painting Leather

I used this to spray air dry Cerakote, so these comments are based on this paint system. 1) The trigger only really works when it's fully depressed. Anything less and you'll get poor atomization and possibly heavier droplets. You have to be mindful of distance to the surface and sweep speed because those are really the only parameters you can control when spraying. As with most atomized paints, spraying too close and too slow will give you runs. I think the unit atomizes Cerakote well enough. 2) The unit must be upright when spraying. You have to move the part to get into hard to reach areas. 3) The sprayer must be cleaned after use otherwise the product will dry within the sprayer and it won't work next time you want to use it. I fill up the jar with acetone and spray until the paint is visibly diluted. 4) A single canister seems to have enough life where the value seems justified. Canister life is obviously affected by #3, so it helps to have all parts ready to go at once.

DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH AEROSOL. Maybe to paint a small toy.

The little cap on the bottom of the sprayer fell off. So buy a bunch of these, if you're going to need a reliable sprayer. They work well at first. I will keep purchasing as they don't work very long. But the mist is reliable.
