This not only looks great but it feels wonderful in your hands. We never knew we needed a clapper until we read about them and now we can’t do without one. It makes for nice, crisp seams.

I use this clapper when assembling tiling scenes created in machine embroidery. These seams are really thick and hard to separate when ironing. They stay flatter when using this.

...then this tool is for you. I didn't even know what a tailor's clapper was until I went on YouTube to learn how to press a pair of trousers like a pro. First steam the seam, then place the clapper on top to draw the moisture from the fabric. What's left is a crisp seam, but without subjecting the fabric to the damaging heat of an iron. This wooden block is simple and it works.

This clapper really works to flatten my quilt block seams and my blocks are noticeably more accurate. This is a good value and well made. One note, after trying this version, I ordered a two pack from another Amazon seller for a slightly better price and they were also slightly wider, which I like. Both are good quality, well sanded and fit well in the hand. Both get the job done. I reviewed the other clappers as well if you are interested and might prefer two slightly wider tools. You won’t go wrong with either choice.

I actually came back to my purchase history because I wanted to send someone the link to this that is purchased almost 2 years ago. I didn't recall the price I'd paid but I was sure it was expensive because this clapper is such good quality. I was absolutely shocked to see that I had only paid $15!! This thing is absolutely wonderful! I can't believe that out of all the ones I'd researched, that this high quality piece of wood was one of the inexpensive ones! Get it if you're wondering. And for those wondering... It's you can use a clapper without steam. It probably gives a better press with it but not enough to "have" to use steam. My opinion only.

I started quilting and quickly learned how helpful a tailors clapper is for squshing those seams super flat! The wood holds heat while absorbing moisture, which "sets" the crease. Worth it.

There is nothing better than getting a really flat seam. I use it for all my quilt blocks and it is very effective. You will definitely see a difference when you use it! Just iron the seam, place the clapper on top of seam while still hot and let it sit for about 5 seconds or so, no need to press it with your hand...just let the weight of the clapper do it's work. You'll get a very flat seam. I wish I had known about this quilters secret earlier!

This is my first clapper. I tested this immediately when it arrived at night. And definitely better than without. Good buy.
