Has anyone used this on vinyl? I have a 1/4" tear I want to prevent from enlarging. thanks for your answer.

The packaging or tube doesn't list favorable materials. It just says: "permanently protects/repairs all types of footwear" I've used this on several pairs of shoe soles and personally would use it on vinyl. I'd just caution your applying it with a small stick type spatula for that tiny tear. It's VERY thick and adheres swiftly!

What kind of solvent works with this glue?

probably acetone....when it dries you can cut it with a razor or knife. it is liquid rubber and very good on running shoes. wipe it off before it dries. it is not like super glue cement.

I have shoes that are about 14 yrs old, and I can't get the soles to stay glued on. Will this help?

Yes. Clean and dry the surfaces before applying this adhesive. Use even but just enough clamping pressure. I’ve had good results extending the life of older outdoor shoes with this product

How well does it adhere to leather on leather?

I didn't use it for that. I tried to use it to attach a new sole to a pair of boots. It was worthless for that. It doesn't set up quickly enough to be usable on anything other than a flat surface.
