Ultimate Mirror Chrome Airbrush Paint 2oz

Ive so far only used this paint to brush onto 3d printed models, and although that did not give a perfect chrome finish (more of a polished satin look) it has given the most metal like finish Ive ever seen from a paint. Ive had multiple people ask if the models were somehow made of metal! It covers very easily and requires very little coats. It dries quickly, as in a matter of seconds. However, it surely uses acetone as a solvent so make sure to use a respirator when painting otherwise you will get lightheaded.

UPDATE : No Idea how i didnt figure this out sooner but I was looking for a plated silver look originally when getting this. Really wanted that mirror shine and I kinda forgot to tell anyone how you get it when using this . Otherwise you ll end up with a metallic look that kinda reflects. This is by far the best paint for this. step 1. Use a dark primer preferably black. if you use primer. spray on light but last coat spray it till you see it become liquid y and shiny and quickly move to a new section. hanging out on spraying as it gets shiny too long and it will pool paint and ruin it. step 2. Use a high gloss lacquer black as your backer. If your primer is somewhat glossy or semi gloss looking this will almost look like a mirror finish. do a light coat to adhere then follow up with coverage coat ( medium ) then heavy coat looking for that glossy look in the paint. Soon as you see your reflection move to a different spot. step 3. You are almost done. After everything is dry VERY lightly spray your chrome paint on and if your surface was high gloss black it will instantly start looking like chrome mirror on the first pass. You can do additional coats but also go very lightly as it will start to remove a the black reflection with every pass. If done right your mirror chrome should reflect everything like it was real silver plating. OLD Review : Ok I have been looking for alternative paints for a while and a big deal has been the mirror finish i want. I saw this on amazon and was glad to find it was fairly cheep and decided to try it out. well i reviewed one of the color change paints and was fairly impressed with that and did the same test. I did 2 coats of the of the chrome mirror and it instantly was better than some of my more expensive my mr hobby paints. I good example would be a drop got on my hand and it instantly looked like i had dropped solder on my hand and was instantly reflective and this is on my skin!!! no black paint and this looks great already which will be better when I do it up propper. If you get a grey look out of this then you probably mixed it with the wrong paint. You need to make sure you are using the write top coat before covering a finished work. Some top coats or clear coats will dull the finish. buy it!!

Was quite surprised how shiny my project came out! Sprayed well through my cheapo airbrush. Led lights reflect so very well. Extremely please

I'm a hobbyist, but I'm also a professional automotive and aircraft painter; I've used other sprayable chrome products on cars and motorcycles before, so I had a little bit of background knowledge on how to best use chrome paint before I bought this stuff. I bought this stuff for use on miniatures and I intended to spray it through my airbrush. This product worked fine for that purpose but I think I'd choose something else if I intended to use it on a larger job or on anything that was going to be used outdoors, exposed to weather, etc. If you are using this product, start off with a good gloss black base. I applied Stynylrez white acrylic primer, then used Createx gloss black as my base on my product. After allowing 15 minutes to dry, I applied the Spazstix using my airbrush. I put it on in several very light coats and let it build up until I got the level of shine I wanted. After about an hour of dry time, I applied clear. I tried using Vallejo gloss acrylic varnish, but it seemed to actually dull my parts out, so, after allowing 15 minutes for the clear to dry, I recoated with a few more light coats of Spazstix and got my parts back to a chrome like finish. I decided to take my finished parts into work with me and coated them with a Dupont automotive clear which seemed to work much better and gave me the desired finish. Probably could have used a good aerosol gloss clear as well, but I have access to automotive products, so that's what I used. If you are going to use this stuff, follow the instructions. Apply it over a gloss black base, apply it in thin, light coats, at about 20 lbs of air pressure and allow sufficient dry time before top coating. Also, the paint tends to settle in the bottle fairly quickly, these types of products all do that, so shake it well and shake it often. Can't stress that part enough. Shake it. A lot! Also, it clogged my airbrush pretty bad, pretty quickly. I used a combination of Medea airbrush cleaner and isopropyl alcohol to clear my brush, seemed to work pretty well. Lastly, as I mentioned above, I don't think I'd recommend this for painting your car, motorcycle, helmet etc... In my opinion, this is a good hobby product, but there are better products available for automotive use. Alsacorp makes some of the better sprayable chrome paints for automotive applications, but there are several other companies with products designed for your car or bike.

Using with an airbrush on plastic models. This gets by far the best mirror finish of anything I've tried when used properly. It needs to be applied to a glossy base. You CAN spray it on bare plastic if it's glossy enough, but the adhesion by itself is not good so I would recommend a gloss lacquer base (I just used a spray can of model master black). You can spray it on, right out of the bottle, no thinner needed. It goes on really smooth, it's very easy to work with. After it dries for a few minutes (dries very quickly) it'll look a little dull, but just lightly buff it with a paper towel and you'll get a brilliant mirror chrome finish. Because of this buffing stage, I again don't recommend going on bare plastic because you might rub some paint off. It also might not be as good if you're painting something that is difficult to buff (small intricate surface). It seems I've been using it for candy coats to nice effect. Now the downside: This stuff goes QUICK and the bottle is small. Because it's pre-thinned, it just disappears down your airbrush. And it's a little pricey as well. It might offer slightly better economy than Alclad (2oz instead of 1oz) but it's similar to that notoriously pricey brand.

I tried a couple of plastic parts and could not get the chrome look. It came out more like a bright aluminum color. Not bad but was wanting more chrome. Maybe there is something I'm doing wrong or maybe there should be some type of specs or special instructions for this

I saw this and bought it at random to try with Candy paints. I used it originally in a Roqdtech gun using a cordless compressor and it didn't work out well. I then tried it with my Iwata Revolution and this finish blew me away. You really need to drop your pressure til it just barely sprays unless you have developed really good trigger control. This stuff just COVERS everything you point your brush at instantly. It is AWESOME, never seen a paint adhere and cover something so fully, so quickly.. even without a primer or base layer. Now, due to how I "THINK" this works, it is also VERY prone to rubbing off by light touch. It is made with a blend of Alcohol, Acetone, acetate, and aluminum powder/flakes. I think it literally is just enough to carry the powder to the finish, compact it to be shiny then evaporates. I do not think it has any actual adhesive quality to it, unless the Acetone is able to dissolve the outer layer of plastic, if you spray it on ABS. You might think clear coat would be the answer, but that disturbs the compressed very flat powder causing it to look full grey. The only products I KNOW that work is the chrome clear coat from All-Clad, and I assume the Chrome clear coat from Spaz Stiks also works since the make this.. The other possibility is to try to spray it on something that has a natural not chemical adhesion to it.
