Courage (Buddhism For You series) Review: A fantastic little book on Buddhism quotes on the subject of courage. - I have loved quote books all of my life and this small 58 page “Buddhism for you Courage" by Daisaku Ikeda is a delightful book filled with quotes that emphasize the important trait of courage. Even though this volume was written for those who are into Buddhism, do not let that discourage you from reading this book. The quotes relate to anyone who is interested in the importance of courage in their life. Indeed, Daisaku Ikeda insists that to really be happy, which is the goal of Buddhism, you must have courage. In fact, the very first quote says: "Courage is the absolute condition to becoming happy." This text is filled with amazing quotes and comments that most people can relate to and appreciate. The following are just a small sample of the fantastic quotes in this little book. "There is no need to hold back in the struggle against injustice. We should speak the truth plainly, exposing evil for what it is." "People of true courage always stand alone." "When we encounter prejudice, we need to challenge and destroy it without hesitation, on the spot." "Courage is free. Anyone can have it." "The truly strong do not lord it over the weak." Whether you are into Buddhism or not, this is a book of quotes and advice dealing with a quality we should all develop, which is courage to face and deal with reality. Indeed, Nichiren Buddhism emphasizes living in the real world and being a balanced and courageous person. A great read. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Much needed courage
"Courage" by Daisaku Ikeda is an indispensable book that provides much needed insight for each person to deal with a scary world both on the personal level and on the societal level. It explains about each person's acting to change the negativity that surrounds us, instead of just wishing for it to change, simply complaining about it or cowering from the harsh realities of life. It is written very straight-forward without being preachy. Ikeda offers simple steps to develop our own courage to face whatever troubles us in our lives.
