Great Product....arrived as advertised and made things very easy!
Ordered this spring assembly and it showed up in a timely fashion and in great shape! Spring was fully wound (which makes thing so much easier) and they secured the spring with a piece of tape so it didn't fall out. I took the spring out of its package and put it directly into the starter assembly, mounted the assembly to the motor and the motor started on the first pull. Problem fixed!

Works like a charm
After getting the numbers off the engine & mower deck, googling them and watching youtube vids to see how to do this properly, I ended up ordering these for my mower. These replaced what appears to be original parts on a ~20 yr old mower (previously owned). Took my time following the youtube vids and everything worked like a charm. Everything was snug, in place with no extraneous flashing or burrs. A great OEM replacement, thanks!

This was an easy install. Just make sure you save the pawl ...
This was an easy install. Just make sure you save the pawl assembly from your old one if you aren't replacing that as well. The spring comes installed on the pulley and it has clear plastic shipping tape holding it on. 1. Peel the shipping tape off then carefully set the pully into the housing 2. Install the pawl assembly and tighten up to the proper torque. 3. Wind the spring as far as it will go then back it up until the hole pull-cord hole in the pulley lines up with the cord hole in the housing. 4. Slip the pull cord through. This can take some finessing I like to melt the cord with a lighter and roll it in the smooth section of a pair of needle nose pliers till it resembles the aglet of a shoelace. This makes fishing it through easier 5. Once its through keep holding the pulley and tie a knot in the end of the cord that's through. Heat the knot a little with a lighter to harden it so it wont come undone then pull it back tight against the pulley 6. Release the pulley and feed your pull cord in so it winds itself, all thats left after that is reinstall, cut the cord to the proper length and install the handle.

Great product, Easy install
This was an easy install and works perfectly. Make sure you have the right size and measure the diameter for your engine.

Complete crap quality, didnt even last a season or 20 lawn mowing sessions
So my original pulley on my lawn mower lasted almost 8 years. Looking at the remnants of the older piece of pulley it was about 20% thicker and seemed much denser and way less flexible. This replacement i got is thin and flimsy, and i questioned its ability to take normal use as soon as i pulled it out of the package. Sure enough, not even 20 starts later and it already failed. Absolute crap. See pics virtually no wear and it snapped. Something that take torque like this should be fiber resin reinforced, and with a metal backing or even better yet made out of aluminum so it will take years of use. Briggs and Stratton should be ashamed of themselves for selling cheap crap.

Easy Install!
I ripped the pull chord on my push mower, and when I went to replace the chord, I took the screws of the pully assistant device that was already installed out ( don't do this) and when I did, the metal spool came out. Normally this would be a simple fix, but I bent the tongue on the end of the metal spool and it became almost impossible to fix, for me! So I did the next best thing and bought a new pully assisted device. Be careful putting this on so you don't let it unravel or you may end up in my situation. I recommend this product and after using it for a few months I have had NO issues.

The answer to no rewind.
This item fits some other later B&S recoil starter, but the spring can be 'harvested' from the plastic wheel & slips right in the earlier (& larger) plastic B&S Quantum set up. Very happy with the results.

Do not, I repeat do not wind this the wrong way.
If you want to understand frustration and I mean real frustration in repairing an old lawn mower, try this on for size. I managed to get this old push mower and used it for a few years, this year I pulled the cord out of it, awesome I think, search online for a solution, tried and old boot lace, no luck, bought a new cord installed, wound it CLOCKWISE and installed in mower, pulled once, started cord not retracting.....dam.....what's up with this. Take apart, wind CLOCKWISE again, re-install.....pull cord once and mower starts.....cord extended not retracting.....DAM. Pull apart AGAIN and this time take the spring off to inspect, well this is the fun part it's not in 6 different pieces and dam near took an eye out after prying it out........off to Amazon for a new one....think perfect $20ish bucks isn't bad.... Receive is in about 4-5 days.....install on a Saturday morning.......have the mower apart, inspect everything watch videos on how to install....think I got this....easy peazy lemon squeezy. place it in the correct way, everything goes smoothly, wind is CLOCKWISE again, all back together.....pull, starts cord stays extended.....I almost throw the entire thing across the garage which is a feat since it's about 30'. I repeat this process at minimum 3 more times.....get frustrated and go drink a cup of coffee. Decide to take it all apart again, inspect the spring and now it's just a pile of twisted metal covered in old grease and looks about the same as the one I removed......I think to myself....."Self......maybe you should go review the video again to see what is going wrong". So I do.....find one via internet search and watch it......in 10s I had that wonderful "OMG I AM AN IDIOT" moment when I realize that you need to wind the spring COUNTERCLOCKWISE and then install the cord into the mower. Yes I am that dense it seems, been repairing things and working on stuff for 20 years and an old push mower brought me to the brink of calling in a pro. So Yeah the part works amazing, and the SECOND one I bought went in and is working great. Sigh..... My freebie lawn mower is now costing me 80% of a new replacement after repairs like these

Easy fit
Way cheaper than local supplier for a genuine B & S part hence the reason I brought through Amazon. Straight forward replacement that works 100%. Nice and easy repair job. That's all to say other than Rotovator now works fine.
