Helps keep my cat comfortable during moves and trips
I purchased this item to help keep my cat comfortable during very stressful events like moving or me being away for a few weeks on externships. I really believed that this collar helped her because she would spend less time hiding during stressful events when I had this collar on her. As a veterinarian, I of course was a little skeptical to how much this might help my cat. I have tried other brands to help calm her, however, the plug-in liquid diffusers made me SO worried because of all the fire hazard warnings. The spray pheromone option was also in consideration, but keeping up with spraying and refreshing the pheromones was unrealistic for me and her cat sitters. This collar seemed perfect to me, and I have purchased this twice already. The collar is pretty thick and long, so it is bound to fit any cat. Because it is long, however, you do have to cut off the excess length after applying and tightening the collar. I left enough space for 2-3 fingers so it wasn't too tight on my cat. Every time she has worn this, she has never attempted to remove it, scratched it, bitten it, or seemed uncomfortable while wearing it. The actual application was very easy, you just kind of apply it like a zip-tie and cut off the little end and that's it. However, because I have never seen her try to get this off, I can't comment on its safety and that was my only concern with the collar. I'm not sure what would happen if she got it caught on something and if she would be able to free herself. However, every time I have left this on her and gone on vacation, she always had a pet sitter or someone else at home to watch her. I do think that the collar works, and at least helps her adjust during stressful events. That being said, I have not used this for continuous, long-term use. I also think I see the best results because I only leave it on for the time it states the collar is effective for. After the effective date passes, I remove the collar. I had considered buying less expensive alternatives, but I tend to just stick with what works and this seemed to work for my cat.

Collars aren't for all cats.....
Some people just don't understand what this collar does....The sent is not for the humans....it's for your cat...Clearly, your cats don't need this collar.. buy calming/hemp/melatonin treats instead that might help... My cat is skiddish....scared for anything new...new ppl (coming by),new human schedule, family leaves for any amount of time, new home(aft new duty station) This collar is extremely helpful... If you have a cat who just needs to relax and calm down. Due to anxiety or nervousness.... This collar will help your pet.. Color is bright and very visible around any color cat's neck....

Helps reduce anxiety and bullying behavior in my cat. Strong smell, worth the trade off for me.
I have 3 cats, 4 when I initially started using this product, but one has crossed the rainbow bridge, with my youngest being 3 years old. My other cats are 11+. My "baby" is insecure and can be a bully, often chasing the other cats around, but is also fearful of where they are. My poor senior cats never know if she will try and love on them or swat or attack them. My poor "baby" was stressed and afraid to come for cuddles with us. And then I found this wonderful collar! They don't live in perfect harmony with this collar; I'm unsure if that's possible at this point. However, "baby" is less anxious and her attacks on the other cats are much less when she wears the collar. I can tell when it's close to 30 days because all the old behaviors increase and then decrease again when I put the new one on. She is also more loving with us. Overall, it's a good product and worth trying. Remember that cats are different; what works for one won't work for another, especially with pheromone-based products. That isn't a reflection on this product, it's just something to be aware of. Now to the negatives. I have been using this for 4 months, almost 5. I buy the 3 pack tin and just use it on my "baby" cat. Surprisingly, she doesn't mind wearing the collar. After about 2 weeks of wearing the new collar, she starts scratching at it. With the most recent collar I have noticed that her back is rippling. I check her skin often and don't see signs of skin irritation, and the collar is loose enough. The collar is strong, and it can be hard to thread the end into the box clasp. However, it is break away because it would slide out of the box clasp if the cat got caught on something. This may not be a good choice if you are sensitive to smells. The smell is super strong and starts to decrease as the weeks pass. It can be distracting when petting your cat and smelling the collar. Even if I don't see her or she doesn't vocalize, I can tell when she's near by the smell of the collar. To me, it's worth the trade-off to have relative peace in the house.

Read the one star reviews!
When I received this collar for my cat and opened it the smell was overpowering and I got sick at my stomach. I left it opened for a couple of days before introducing it to my cat hoping the smell would dissipate some. Which it did not. When I introduced it to my cat she took off running. I waited a few hours and had it ready to quickly sneak it over her head as she was sitting in my lap. She wasn’t happy at all. She was use to wearing a collar so that wasn’t an issue. I observed her most of the day and she ran around the house like she was trying to get away from it. I myself could smell it all through the house, which was not pleasant. Her attitude had changed and would not even come to me. She finally got it off herself. I got it back on her the next day thinking it would take time. I got this collar because she doesn’t get along with my other cat, which I had bought the same collar (from another place) for the second cat. Same scenario. Not only did they not get along, it became worse when the collars were on them. They both were fighting as never before. I mean hair flying fight. The so call quick release is not at all that. The collar slides back and forth and never stays in one place. I kept checking on them making sure the collar was in the right place. One cat had it stuck in his mouth pulling his mouth wide open putting pressure on his jaws as he was gagging. Thankfully I got it off. The other cat’s collar was so tight it was choking her. I couldn’t even get one finger between her and the collar. Later I found both collars laying on the floor with teeth marks. I assumed they were fighting to get the collar off. This happened over 3 days. I put the collars away and will return the one I got from Amazon. Once the collars were off and I got the smell out of the house my cats have actually acted calmer towards each other and now the first cat loves all over me as if she’s saying thank you for getting rid of the collars. That may sound silly but she follows me around and head bumps me like never before. These collars was a traumatic experience for them, they would not even eat, and I will never do it to them again. Read the reviews! I totally agree with the one star reviews. Some of them are really sad on what happened to their cat. Some people love the collar and says it helps. Decide for yourself to take the chance. The manufacturer needs to discontinue this product. I’m saying this because of my experience and the experiences of others. There are some good reviews, but I don’t know how some people love the smell. According to Wikipedia, a domestic cat sense of smell is 9 - 16 times stronger than humans so just imagine how it affects them. It affect me right out of the can.

Doesn’t work well with all cats
Irritated one of my cats neck to the point I had to stop using it on him. Scent is pretty strong and my other cat had hook in the eyes with it. Totally discontinued using it

Helps My Anxious Jumpy Cat (with pros/cons and tips)
PROS: This collar works better than any other anti anxiety alternative I’ve tried. My Furgie is pretty jumpy when it comes to a lot of things, and if there’s new people, new environments, or just periods of heightened anxiety, this collar makes a drastic difference. As it works for 30 days, I can usually sense when the collars effectiveness has ran out, because Furgies anxiety will become more noticeable. I’ve tried other collars and diffusers, with strong funky smells that fill up the room, and they all pale in comparison to SENTRY’s effectiveness. CONS: Before buying this collar I saw lots of safety concerns raised by other pet parents, from choking hazards to causing rashes. I’ve never had an issue with a potential choking, maybe Furgie has a higher IQ (sincerely no offense) but this alone has caused an issue for me. Apparently due to choking concerns, SENTRY made the collar clasp release easier, which Furgie likes to take advantage of in her free time. To combat this, I’ve tried a few methods, and have seen a few on here that look worth trying. HOWEVER: if you’re reading this before purchasing, I’d recommend the first bullet if your cat is indoors and doesn’t ordinarily wear a collar before worrying about devising a makeshift alternative by attaching it to other collars or some other sophisticated workaround. The methods that have worked for me include: • Putting a collar on the cat at least a week or two before putting the SENTRY collar on so the cat gets used to the sensation of having a collar on. Most cats HATE wearing a collar, so this will help with the initial itchiness and scratching your cat will inevitably have to get out of their system. Wait until this phase subsides, the longer the better, as you don’t want to waste your $25 on a collar that sits under your bed in the one spot you can’t reach. • Leaving the collar length a bit longer, so if your cat tries to unhook the collar it takes much more effort and they likely will give up. (Pictures 1&2) • Putting an additional collar on so when your cat scratches the collar they’re scratching the wrong collar and can’t unhinge the clasp. (Pictures 3&4) • A teeny tiny bit of super glue on the clasp before quickly sliding the collar on and letting it dry for a few seconds before the cat has a chance to know what happened. All in all, it’s a 5 star product review for me despite the cons, as it’s the best product in its class and I’ll do anything to make my baby feel more comfortable.

Finally got it on the cat
The wildcat was not going to allow me to put a collar on her. So I put the collar where she lies and she got the essence of it and actually played with it a little bit when I was not nearby. Overtime she had some calming chews and became a lot more friendly and I was able to touch her without causing her distress and I got the collar on her. She is wearing it proudly and it is pretty purple on her. It does have a nice scent and when I returned her to her previous owner he said he can smell it and was content with it. I would highly recommend this hauler as a subtle way too tame a nervous animal.

Smells like Raid (floral) & made my cat MORE active
I should probably say upfront that I think my cat is neuroatypical (for a cat). He has behavior my other cats never did, and I've raised them for 40 years. As soon as I put this collar on him, he got HYPER. And he stayed hyper for hours, until I finally took it off. It's possible I just didn't give the collar long enough (I think 4 hours should be plenty of time for scent therapy to work), but... I hated the smell. As the cat was bouncing around, leaping at everything in the room (and spreading that "calming" smell everywhere), my partner said, "Did you spray Raid?". That's when I realized the smell was familiar because it DOES smell like Raid, the kind that uses florals to mask the poison smell. I love lavender and use it often as scent therapy for myself. But this smell is NOT lavender, which is what I expected (although it's possible I just didn't read the product description carefully enough). It kinda reminds me of doggy shampoo, you know, that smell your dog has after they've been freshly washed but still smell like dog? That smell. And since the purpose of the collar is to use scent as a calming agent, it has a strong scent. I'm getting more sensitive to scents as I get older, and I am extremely picky about what scents I wear or have in my house, so YMMV. One other thing I wanted to mention, since the AI summary of the FAQs in this listing is wrong, is that there is NO SAFETY BREAKAWAY for the collar. It has a simple pressure clasp. The band slides through the clasp, and there's a little edge that presses down on it to hold it in place. I suppose you could technically call this "breakaway", since in most situations where you put tension on the band, it would likely just slide out, but it is not technically a breakaway design. So if that's important to you, don't get this one.

10/10 recommend!!
Worked amazing for my aggressive cat. Before he would chase the other two cats around and after putting the Sentry Behavior and Calming Collar on him, he’s relaxed, no more chasing behavior and gets along well with the other cats. 10/10 recommended.

Received faster, not sure effective
First time trying. Just received. The collar is quite long. Not sure it is supposed to cut it. I just wear to the cat.

Sensacional

Highly recommend.
Pretty sure this thing is made of sorcery - works miracles. It’s turned my cat into a downright hussy. He’s reached some sort of gooey zen state.

Expensive, but consistently works, does not have a strong smell. Buckle is poor.
I’m reviewing again after a few years of not using this product. I have a very highly strung cat (the brown one). Lots of anxiety symptoms like PICA and aggressive tendencies to our other cat. It’s recently been bad (eating and digesting our mattress!), and he’s been full on aggressive with cat number 2 for about 6 months. I’d finally had enough and purchased this brand of collar (the original US version - and yes I struggled with purchasing an American product and supporting their economy at such political times, but it’s the best one! -I’ve tried the cheaper ones). Instantly our problem cat was calmer, cuddling and purring with us within 20 minutes, and no fighting with our other cat… in fact look at this photo 48 hours later! It’s worth the extortionate cost. It’s smells gently of sweets (candy), the smell is not over powering like the cheap lavender ones. The down fall is the collar ‘buckle’ - it’s terrible, if my cat was absolutely determined he would definitely be able to get it off by struggling with it. I’m thinking of making my own securement system. But for now he has behaved and kept it on.
