The Gerber Gear Dime 12‑in‑1 Mini EDC Multitool is a great little tool to keep on your keychain or in your pocket. It’s compact, lightweight, and gives you quick access to pliers, cutters, a small blade, and other essentials without taking up much space. For everyday tasks like opening packaging, tightening something small, or quick fixes, it’s surprisingly capable for its size. This is actually the second one I’ve bought — I forgot the first was on my keychain at the airport, and TSA took it. That alone shows how easy it is to carry without noticing it’s there. The build quality feels solid, the tools open smoothly, and it’s a great backup to have on you at all times. If you want a small multitool that’s easy to carry and genuinely useful, the Dime is a great choice.

This is a pocket-size multitool with good mix of just the right tools. Quality of the materials meets Gerber standards (I also own a Gerber Suspension which I think is the best of its kind). The only issue I have with the Gerber Dime is the assembly. The first one delivered to me, the knife wouldnt open unless it was pried open. I replaced that one, but on the second one the file would barely open. I used WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil on it with little effect. Maybe it just needs to be broken in. I'll keep it. The blade is sharp and the box cutter is even sharper, so far its the most useful thing on board. The spring loaded mini-pliers and mini-scissors are handy, just dont put too much strain on them. The bottle opener is so small it takes multiple trys to pry open a bottle cap. There are also tweezers to help with the ever-present cactus needles we have in Texas. Compared with other pocket-sized rigs, the Gerber Dime is better designed with better materials. If you can get one that was assembled right, you should be happy with it for a long time. Update: Seems like the 3-n-1 Oil I applied finally made it to the point of friction. All the tools open more easily now. I used a knife sharpener made for pocket knives on the blade, now I have an edge. It's a keeper! This handy little multitool is going to live in my pocket from now on. Recommended.

I've been using mine since July 2025. I love this multitool, although I do wish some things were a little better. I could never get used to the box cutter, so I always use the regular knife. I have also used the scissors a few times but they are a little weak. The plyers are useful but they are also a bit flimsy when applying a bit of pressure. I always forget that it has tweezers, it's so well hidden. The nail filer is a little too short but it gets the job done. The bottle opener works perfectly. I have not used almost any of the other tools so I can't speak to how well they work. I keep mine with my keys and it has come in handy over the year. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to add it to their key chain, just for the convenience of having it in case you need it. It will get the job done but don't expect it to perform any miracles.

I carried a Leatherman Squirt for almost 20 years and used it almost every day. I returned it once on its lifetime warranty. I received a new one and a few years later the spring in the sissors broke. I thought what the heck I'll use the warranty again. This time they had discontinued the squirt. The sent me a new knife but it had sissors instead of pliers. This was a deal breaker. I looked around and found this Gerber dime and so far I like it better than the Leatherman. The box opener blade is awesome. I highly recommend buying this knife. I'm thinking about buying several for Christmas gifts.

Mine broke in a year. Why 5 stars? I got my replacement in 2 days. This is a great EDC if you’re not using it blue collar. I have something else for that. For office handy, perfect. The only criticism- the file should be away from the bottle opener. It’s almost impossible to use. No room.

So I had a Gerber dime before, which I returned after a week after I attempted to cut something for the first time and it overpowered the knife joint and made the knife floppy. The first one also had very stiff joints for such a tiny tool, definite nail breakers. So I sent it back and a year later I saw this one on sale and I thought what the hell, maybe it was a fluke. Got this one and the joints are much more free flowing, still feel stiff but they won't break a nail probably. Unfortunately the knife is still as dull, it really is a universal problem, so if you don't sharpen your knives, this one is worthless. Still, most people do sharpen their knives so it's not too bad, but this being this dull from the factory from a knife company speaks of the fit and finish of this tool. The main draw of this little tool is the bottle cap lifter, it's pretty neat that it's in the frame and always available without opening the tool. It does make the tool more uncomfortable to carry in the pocket, so if you don't use a bottle cap lifter, it's net negative. The scissors are okay, they cut paper and that's about all you can really expect. The package opener works, and it works well actually! Good tool and if you want a package opener in a small form factor, this will do it. The tweezers are fine, they're small but they do cheap tweezer things. The small flathead is okay but very thin compared to how wide it is, if you compared it to a actual screwdriver you would see what I mean. The Philips screwdriver is short and doesn't even have any pattern, might as well be the nail cleaner on a nail file. The file on the Philips is short and barely works and it's on the lanyard ring side so it's useless. Also the tip breaks off a lot on these. Now the whole reason to buy one of these micro tools of this design, the pliers. They're fine. Tiny, couldn't do anything with them really, the wire cutter is okay on smaller zip ties. Now for my recommendation over this, get either a victorinox classic SD or the victorinox rambler. They both have a much better file, pair of scissors, tweezers, a blade sharp from the factory, a finer flathead for small applications. The Rambler also has a tool with a real 3d Philips driver that is magnetic with a cap lifter and wire stripper/bender. The classic is cheap and comes in all manner of colors and the Rambler is roughly the same price for infinitely better fit and finish. They also fit nicer in the pocket or on a keychain and they're lighter. If you absolutely need a tiny pliers based multi tool, the Leatherman squirt PS4 is more money but from what I have heard it actually works quite well.

This is a fantastic little multitool. It lives on my keychain in my pocket when I'm not traveling (flying) for work. It's amazing to me how often I find myself using it. Everything from the (extremely robust) bottle opener to the pliers to the scissors to the small knife blade - it truly is a great, small multitool.

I lost my leatherman squirt after 8 years of having it on my keychain so I'm very familiar with that multi-tool. If the Squirt was still available I would have bought another but I had to find a substitute. It's important to know that I'm not just one of those EDC guys who just uses an overpriced knife to open boxes. I'm an electrician who uses tools in industrial and residential settings so even thought I take care of my tools they go through hard use. I've also had knives and multi-tools since I was a kid. So far the gerber dime is almost a replica of the squirt and it looks cool. That's good. However, I will list the negatives here. 1. It comes with two package openers. A "package opener" and a knife which is also a package opener. If you don't know how to open packages with a knife without cutting too deep you should learn how to use a knife properly. 2. The pivots are tight which means it will not open as easy as a leatherman tool. The machining is not as high quality. The blade does not come as sharp as a leatherman. The steel is listed as stainless steel which means that it is not as high quality as a leatherman. 3. The package opener is located in a way that you might try to push against it with your thumb to complete the opening which for someone without calloused hands could result in injury so watch out. 4. The file is shorter than the Squirt's file. This means you can't push the file back and forth much as it is maybe a half inch long. I used to use the Squirt's file alot to ream conduits and smooth edges of metal. This file is also located on the end of the Dime that is nearest the keyring so it's just not in a good place. They probably should have just left it out. With that being said everything else is almost like the Squirt so I will be giving this 5 stars until something goes wrong because the Squirt is no longer available. Maybe if Gerber sells enough Dimes Leatherman will realize there is a market for this category of tool and start to produce keychain multi-tools again.

E' già il secondo che acquisto. Ad un prezzo irrisorio, un multiuso veramente comodo in dimensioni ridottissime. Certo non lo consiglierei ad un fabbro, ma per portarselo in tasca tutti i giorni è perfetto.

Zu meiner Person. Ich bin eine Frau mit kleinen Händen und nicht handwerklich tätig. Eher im Outdoorbereich unterwegs oder Alltagsarbeiten. Ich war etwas hin- und hergerissen aufgrund des Preises und der nicht ganz so guten Kritiken. Härteeinsatz habe ich noch nicht hinter mir. Die Messerklinge musste ich nachschleifen. Aber einfach vom emotionalen Bauchgefühl her: Ich mag das Ding einfach! Ich habe es gern in der Hand und gucke es gerne an. Es fühlt sich wertig und robust an ohne klobig und zu schwer zu sein. Wieder zurück zum Rationalen: Es ist ein leichtes EDC für zwischendurch. Der Paketschneider ist ordentlich scharf und erfüllt super seinen Zweck. Auch wenn ich selten Flaschen öffne, finde ich die super, den Flaschenöffner sofort benutzen zu können ohne vorher irgendetwas mit den Fingernägeln aufklappen zu müssen. Die Kanten bleiben nirgendwo hängen und stören auch nicht. Es ist klein, handlich und leicht und fällt somit kaum ins Gewicht beim Packen. Die Optik und Haptik gefällt mir super. Die Größe ist ideal für die Hosentasche. Die außergewöhnliche Messerklingenform finde ich mal besonders. Die Feile ist denke ich Mist. Aber um die ging es mir beim Kauf nicht. Besser als nix und man darf den Schraubendreher nicht vergessen, der im Notfall sicher praktisch ist. Die Schere war schärfer als nach den Kritiken erwartet. Ich würde es wieder kaufen.... Irgendwie entwickelt es sich zum Lieblingsstück. Man will es dabei haben und benutzen. Allerdings waren 30 EUR im Verhältnis zu anderen Multi-Tools kein Schnapper. Paket- und verkäuferseitig alles prima.

good quality tool. small size, but has good functionality. 8yr old loves it. wait for sale to get it at or under $30 (seen it as low as $26) but be warned to avoid 3rd part sellers who may list it cheaper.
