I bought a set of ten 60x13.5x5mm bar magnets. I've long felt that countersunk rare-earth magnets were the best way to attach them so that they don't transfer their attachment to the object you were hanging. These come with nonmagnetic screws -- small, but they do seem to work -- and the magnets are cradled in a steel chassis. As many reviews have noted, these are fragile bars, especially at the point of the countersunk hole. If you pry the magnet away from a steel surface, the bar can crack at the hole and even leave the short end behind. But if you slide the magnet sideways off the steel surface, you'll likely keep the magnet intact.I keep finding unexpected uses for these. I needed to hang a dustpan under my sink, but all available places for a cuphook were taken. So I screwed a hook onto a small block of wood, then screwed two of these bar magnets onto the top of the block, which now adheres to the underside of my cast-iron sink with amazing strength. In similar fashion, I have a broom with a metal handle that wouldn't stop detaching itself from a retainer clip on the inside of a cabinet door. One of these bars is now working very well to keep it in place.Recently, however, I discovered that my stack of magnets had one bar on which one hole wasn't countersunk. I reported it to the seller, and I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a prorated refund, along with the most courteous of greetings. Hope to do business with this seller again!

I had read a lot of reviewers saying the magnets break easily. I didn't break any magnets but the brackets housing the magnets broke quite easily when I screwed them on. I left the magnet with the cracked bracket installed and after a couple of months it still works good. I am using the magnet to hold the door to my chicken coop open while I am in and out of there tending my livestock. ( I keep all my feed in the coop). I got tired of the door being slammed into me by the wind. Problem solved.

What can you say about a magnet? Right? Actually, there are lots to be said about magnets. For simplicity sake, the first is the rated 'pull', i.e., how many perpendicular 'pounds' of force does it take to remove the magnet from clean, unpainted iron.... So, the user needs to determine what they are using it for. For example, you wouldn't probably want to put a 100lb bar magnet on a shower door or most cabinet doors or 80lb magnets to hold pictures, etc. to your refrigerator. However, in earthquake proned California, you might consider a strong magnet to keep kitchen cabinet dors from opening during the shaking to prevent your glasses and dishes from crashing out (functionality) and, (construction) magnet housing not made d enough to prevent the magnet from coming out of its 'holder'. With 'inquisitive' grandchildren around now, I found stong magnets keep them out of certain drawers and cabinets; works better at a fraction of the cost of some 'fancy' "child proof" device.These magnets (housing) and 'striker' plate are consistent in their fabrication and assembly. The strength is close to rating (using uncalibrated pull weight scale). Functionality... is whatever you can imagine a use for them. In my case, I attach them to the tops of tool chests, etc. to 'hang things'. Approximately ⅔ of the magnet sticks above the cabinet. Clamps, test equipment, etc. are 'hooked' over the top. In the kitchen one similar use is hanging large UV wands for easy access for counter and equipment final sterilization. [Used them long before Covid-19]

Recently moved into a house built in 1965 and replaced all the HVAC vent covers bcuz the old ones (probably the originals) were so over-painted and ugly. (Don't you just hate that)? The old ductwork wouldn't hold the screws for the new vents and I didn't want to trust them to only the drywall or have to patch/repair drywall so screws would hold, so used these magnets to hold the new vent covers in place. Screwed 2 to the top of each duct opening and so far they're working just fine. The hardest part was drilling the holes in the duct while laying on my back.The problem now is how to deal with "hiding" the screw holes on the room/exposed side of the vents because the screws aren't being used to secure the vents to the walls. The plan is to epoxy the screws in place, then cut them off from the backside of the vent so from the exposed side they look as if they're screwed into the wall, but will be there just for show to hide the screw holes in the vents. These make for easy removal & replacement of vent covers. (With the magnets, when removing/replacing the vent covers for any reason, don't have to worry about screws being held by only drywall).This approach was much more expensive than using just/only screws, but if the screws wouldn't hold the vent covers in place, they were useless, and these served my purpose. (Wondering why new construction doesn't use magnets instead of weak, poorly-working screws that eventually don't hold the covers securely).

I used this to keep garbage can lids closed against raccoons that come out at night. Works well, but this does not at all deter rust. It will rust like crazy and rust very very quickly. So don't expect this to look pretty if you plan to expose this to the outdoor elements.B/c this came in such a large pack, I had to find other ways to utilize these. I ended up mounting 7 of these on the underside of my cargo/utility ebikes (under the seat). Many LED motorcycle lights these days have magnetic mounting points and are rechargeable. So the perfect solution is to put strong magnets like these on the underside of the bike and simply slap small LED lights onto it when in use. Easy to remove to charge.

Very strong magnets, but equally as brittle and breakable. One broke just trying to slide two magnets apart.

Awesome magnets. Not a whole lot to say other than: so strong! This is not your crappy fridge magnet. This magnet is on its own level of strength. If you need a magnet that will hold and not move, hold something heavy, etc this is it. Used it to hold curtains in place in our van and they do not move or let in any light now.Nice that it has mounting holes too.

Great item. Works well and is a very strong magnet, it has a steel shell on one side so it will magnetize one way on the side that is exposed once screwed in. It does come with spacers so that the magnets don't break and to easily seperate. Make sure to use a metal or plastic spatula/ like one for drywalling to easily work with the magnets.

Strong magnet just a bit pricey

I used these to hold a basket for groceries on the back of a bicycle. So, very strong. I can lift the electric bike up with the basket. To release it from the the bike I have to give it a quick jerk to break the grab.

Super magnets. I used them to make wall mounted knife holder. These were strong enough to hold the knives through about 1/4 inch of wood without any issues. Definitely capable for a ton of different projects or applications.
