Very important component of a proper installation Donโt skip this step
I have installed over 100 mini splits as part of my home service team business here in Arizona. Mini Splits are the solution and the future of home A/C and heating needs. Very efficient, very low cost, very reliable. 99 percent of all failures in Mini Split Systems are related to the refrigerant leaking from the unit at the connector. This is 100 percent the installers fault. The fittings can be over torqued ( over tightened ). The line vibration can cause the flare on the copper line set to wear down just enough to allow the refrigerant to escape. The solution is proper tightening. Using a flare seal. Mini splits are easy to install. The installations hold up for a good long time if you do it properly This product is a sure thing. I use them always. In combination with the blue monster tape Nylog fitting sealer, a flare fitting torque wrench. All available on Amazon. Do not skip the use of this product. If you loose you refrigerant it can cost more than $500 to have a technician come out and make the correction , evacuate and recharge.

Great Product
I wish I had had these thirty years ago! Expensive, but easy to use and well worth avoiding a leak in a flared fitting.

Works really well but expensive. Use this with Nylog and you should be good to go.
Fantastic product. Really works but it's very overpriced (which is why I took off a star). I used this for a minisplit install.

Very satisfied!
I used these on the installation of a quad-zone Pioneer mini-split system and am 100% pleased with the results. I found them relatively easy to install. The ยผ inch seals were a little tricky to press into place on the flare cone, but with some coaxing, they worked just fine. I did have a little problem on some connections getting the flare nut thread started, but by simply checking and tweaking the alignment, they threaded on without issue. I did not use Nylog. I did not think it was necessary with the flare seals, but I imagine it would not hurt. So, I really have nothing to compare it to. Other than a single-zone mini-split which I installed a few years ago. I utilized the factory flares and did use Nylog on the connections. Have had no leaks. However, the relatively small additional cost of the flare seals was well worth it for me. I rented a nitrogen bottle and did a pressure + bubble test prior to evacuating the system. No issues whatsoever. The system is working fine. If I do install another mini-split, I will most likely install the flare seals.

leaked all the coolant after 1 year of use.
I purchased these at the recommendation of a mini-split installer I found on You-Tube. They seemed to work fine for about 1 year. Then all my refrigerant leaked out and it was evident that the leak was at one of the flare joints. While trying to diagnose a non-cooling event, I had a tech with A/C company on site for service to main home unit. He immediately asked about my connections. I informed him of these "gaskets" and was told they deteriorate over time and cause leaks. He confirmed by finding oil at one of the connections. Now I have to buy about $200 worth of coolant and have the joints resealed. I would NOT recommend these.

Quality seems to be excellent!
I ended up not using these on my minisplit. When I got ready to install them at the outdoor unit, I realized that the liquid line on my unit was too small/the fitting for it was way too big. The vapor line seal was perfect size. Turns out I had purchased the wrong seal kit. It was completely my fault as I should have looked a little more carefully at the listing. So I ended up just making the flare connections without the additional seals and that has worked perfect for me. No refrigerant leaks at all since installing the unit 6 or 7 months ago. Despite not using these, I could tell that the quality was good and I could definitely see how they could help with ensuring that you have a leak free connection. As a result I gave 5 stars despite not actually using them. I would recommend them too.

Good to keep on hand to avoid leaks
Buy these BEFORE getting hoses, pipes, fittings and refrigerant gas so things will be properly assembled when you do your work. Avoid leaks and call-backs. Most brass fittings will seal nicely without them but there are always a few at the top of the line that come back to haunt you.

Be Gentle
Limited 'feel' for when you are compressing too much. Really EASY to squash. Ended up not using these for this exact reason.
