Switchmas

One of the best movies ever. I needed to get this on DVD because I love it so much. I wouldn’t find it anywhere else but then I saw that it was here on Amazon and I just NEEDED to have it. I ordered it four days ago and it just got delivered today - originally it said it was going to be here on December 26th or 27th and it got here today, the 17th. Quick shipping, never opened, and super cute. So happy it got here before Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone! You should definitely buy it. It’s such an underrated movie.

My mom requested this movie out of the blue in request of her Christmas gift. It was a great addition to the other gifts we got her but the problem lied in the fact that this movie was hard to find, especially on such short notice before Christmas. Because the movie is kind of niche, it was not available to stream or readily available to buy in stores, but Amazon saved the day and even delivered before Christmas. The gift is great, and even better was the convenience of getting it 5/5 for overall buy!

Switchmas was an exceptional movie for a number of reasons: It was a caring humorous depiction of acceptance of all faiths and practices I could show it to my granddaughters; The acting and music were endearing; and It set a wonderful tone for the holidays. I especially liked the character of Jack the Jerk. He came across as the quintessential bully, but, as Ira came to discover, there’s a lot below the surface. The scene with Jack and his father brought in all the teenage angst, and trying to disguise his love for his dog in the face of his father’s bullying. Even outside the Christmas context, having children watch this sends the message that we learn from how we are treated, but with support and friendship, we can overcome those bad examples. Jack’s conversion to the savior of the Christmas pageant showed all he needed were friends and someone to believe in him.

What a heartwarming Christmas story which will be added to my family's Holiday watching traditions. Switchmas is near and dear to us as it was filmed in our very own "Christmas town" (Leavenworth WA) and our friends, school's kids/bands, and our wonderful shops and beautiful scenery are featured and recognized. I remember the day they were filming downtown Leavenworth VERY early in the morning. Some of my students and their families skipped school to be a part of the fun. AND we hadn't had any new snow in a while and that day the parade was filmed we had an incredible show of the white stuff falling from the sky!! But bottom line the story is a very endearing one especially during the Christmas season.

Basically a Hallmark-type movie, with nice though misguided parents and a formulaic story. The two little boys - and the rest of the characters - are nice to look at and well-meaning. Ira, who is Jewish, is fascinated by Christmas and snow, but his anticipated vacation in Aspen CO with his parents falls through, and he's sent to his grandparents in a Jewish retirement community in Florida. During a stopover in Chicago he switches places with similar-looking Mike, whose recently-divorced mother is sending him to his cousins in Christmastown WA. Neither set of relatives has seen the boys for several years, and both boys are welcomed warmly. The customary snarky older sister and town bad boys provide suspense, but there's a happy ending. Kids will enjoy this, and parents tired of battling couples and meet-cute romances will settle back and enjoy Christmastown's Santa, who informs us of the Jewish contributions to everyone's Christmas pleasure. My three favorite Christmas movies are Mixed Nuts, The Ref, and Love Actually. Switchmas is a gentle change.

This movie was recommended to me from another movie that I had purchases so I took a chance. I am glad I did. This movie is very entertaining, has a great story line to it and I know it will be one of the movies that we will watch every Christmas season. Great for the entire family!

I'd never heard of this movie, let alone seen it. I like Elliot Gould and thought I'd try it and am I ever glad I did! It's funny and not just for kids, my husband really enjoyed it. Great service, arrived quickly.

The grass always looks greener....
