I bough this for my dad...just got it and opened it...and I cant figure out to close it...help?

Tara - With the knife in the open position, hold the knife in your hand with the blade pointed to the left. On the handle is a semi-circular cutout on the handle near the blade. There is a silver piece of spring steel running through that semi-circle. If you push on that piece of steel, you will see that it pushes in. When you push that spring steel in, it releases the tension on the blade and allows you to fold the blade back into the handle. With your left hand, gently fold the knife blade down and it will allow you to close the knife. Be careful, Spyderco knives come from the factory with razor sharp blades and you can serious cut yourself if you are not careful. Hope that helps !

Should I get this knife or the Kershaw Cryo 2?

I am not really a "knife guy" so I don't have any knowledge of the Kershaw Cryo 2. All I can say is that I have owned this knife for about three years and really enjoy it. I have also purchased this knife as a gift on two separate occasions.

What's the most economical way to sharpen this blade?

The absolute cheapest way would be to find a piece of plywood, an old mouse pad, and some rubber bands, then just buy some metal wet/dry sandpaper in several grits. I did this and it worked pretty well. Google "convex sharpening". Be advised that it rounds off the secondary bevel, so you kind of have to keep sharpening it this way once you go this route.

I got my tenacious week and a half ago and the blade was dead on center when I got it but now it's way off any suggestions ?

Either you can ajust the pivot pin yourself or send it back to spyderco.
