A great investment. It makes a huge difference.
Our original jar had no problems after 3 years and over 1300 cycles, but we experienced too much cavitation (meaning that some ingredients would stay at the top rather than being sucked down to the bottom). We always put a lot of veggies into our drinks, so we were often forced to blend in two or three stages. And there were sometimes lumps left in it at the end. The new Wild Side blender solves the cavitation problem almost completely because of the extra room at the bottom and the much larger blade. (It helps to use the pulse button a couple times before using the smoothie button.) It blends much more smoothly, with no lumps. The new jar is also much easier to clean because it isn't as cramped at the bottom. It's designed really well. The top opening is virtually the same size as the original jar, believe it or not. It's the rest of the jar that's larger, particularly the bottom. It doesn't really look any larger than the original jar when placed on the the blender and it doesn't take up any more room on the counter. For anyone resisting it because of the price, it might be a false economy to save the money. For one thing, it will last for hundreds or even thousands of uses. But the key thing for us is that the Blendtec is something we use every single day, often several times a day, so we want it to perform as perfectly as possible. Another benefit is that we find ourselves putting more veggies and nuts into it because it blends things up so well, which means we get more nutrition each day. That's worth a lot to us. This jar costs about the same as one visit to the grocery store. We procrastinated for months on buying the Wild Side because of the expense and the fact that our original jar was still operating fine. Now we wish we had bought it three years ago.

A Very Much Improved Blender Cup
I have had a Blendtec blender for about 14 years. It is the HD Commercial unit. Well the bearings in my old blender cub finally wore out and had gotten pretty noisy. Also the old jars the bearings were not very well sealed and water could easily into the bearing assemble. I just received my new jar and used it for the first time today. The first thing I noticed with the new jar was the bearings were very well sealed and does not appear to allow water or liquids to enter into the bearing assembly. The blade shaft was also very tight with a tighter tolerance then older jar(s). After a close eyeball inspection I was ready to put it to use. I have to say the noise level was Greatly Diminished compared to the old jar(s) that came with the blender. In fact I could not get over just how quiet the new blade assembly is compared to the old one. Another issue I had with the old blender cups was the fact the lid never fit properly and liquids would creep out of top of the jar while blending. Also there was no center hole in which to add additional ingredients while blending. Well Blendtec seems to have fixed all that with the new covers as well. I am very happy with the new blender cups and would recommend them to anyone who has owned a Blendtec blender for many years and is still using the original blender cups. If I had known a while ago Blendtec had these new cups available I would have not waited until my old cups finally wore out. FYI: I stared with the 44oz and 32oz cups. I first wore out the 32oz cup then the 44oz one. I only ordered the 44oz replacement due it can do everything the 32oz cup can do. After seeing and using the 44oz cup I plan on ordering the 32oz soon and then ordering their newest cup "Twister Jar" I hope this helps out with your decision making process.

Insist on the NEWER version of Wildside+ jar
I recently bought a refurbished Total Blender directly from Blendtec off their site that came with the Wildside+ Jar. It was immediately obvious that there was too much play in the blade assembly that caused excessive vibration and noise. Given no other experience with this product, I figured I would see if this was normal - it wasn't. After running the blender on a high speed (probably 10th use), it began to smoke and actually had rubbed the paint off the four corners of the base where the jar sits. A call to Blendtec had my replacement jar on the way and a promise that they'd replace the base if the paint blemishes caused any issues in use. Customer service was very pleasant. When I received the jar around a week later (why so slow when whole unit arrived faster?) I discovered that there is a NEW VERSION of the Wildside+ jar that is quite different than the one described here as I write this. The newer Wildside+ jar replaces the black rubber in the blade assembly with a white material that is stiffer. The assembly is also now attached with stainless steel both inside and outside the jar which clearly offers better strength and temperature resistance than the plastic in the old one. See pictures for detail. This blade assembly has no play in it whatsoever and works well. Time will tell if the white material shreds or degrades as the older black rubber did. Be sure you get this newer Wildside+ jar as the older version clearly had a design flaw. I am dissappointed Blendtec tried to pawn off the older jar on me in a brand new (refurbished base) purchase, but at least I now have a replacement.

Much Improved Jar
I've had a Blendtec since 2008. Unfortunately the original jar I had started leaking and I was outside the warranty period to get a new jar from the company (boo!). I opted to pick up the WildSide Jar model with the extra side and have been totally satisfied. This jar works so much better than the standard four sided jar. I primarily use my Blendtec to make smoothies. I pack the jar full with all the ingredients at one. I’ve done my research and I know how to stack them to assure they blend well (liquids/soft items on the bottom, frozen stuff on top). With the original four-sided jar I often had to stick a spoon or spatula or something into the jar to get my smoothie moving after the first blend or two. An air pocket would form in the middle and the half blended smoothie would stop blending. I didn’t buy a Blendtec to have to fuss with my smoothie blending. I bought it because the high powered motor, special jar and blade were supposed to do the work for me. Was having to stick a spoon in to release the air pocket in the middle that kept it from moving all that onerous? No. But it was still annoying and added to the time it took to blend since I’d have to do at least 2 if not 3 smoothie setting cycles to get it smoothed. The WildSide Jar has completely taken care of that. I pack my smoothie the exact same way into the WildSide Jar. Once I hit the smoothie button it just goes. The smoothie keeps moving and it’s blended perfectly with one smoothie setting blend. My old jar also started to look kind of gross after a while. I neglected to follow the instructions after a year or so and started cleaning it out with a bristled brush. Do not do this. The jar really does clean itself if you rinse it, put some soap in and fill it halfway with water, and then use the soup setting to let it swirl and clean. The water gets even hotter on this setting, so you can be sure it did clean up the inside. I give it a rinse to get the soap out and just use my fingers to rub down the area where the lid may trap some leftover blender product in the jar. The new Wildside Jar has kept its new, pristine look this way. Next time I need to replace the jar for my Blendtec (hopefully years and years down the line like my first jar) I would definitely repurchase the WildSide Jar model.

Better than the one that came with blender
I bought a Blendtec blender 7 years ago.. I liked it, didn't truly love it. I use a blender every day but found that not everything got blended all the time. I use it mostly for smoothies and to make soups A few weeks ago, the blade in the jar (Wildside jar as well) got loose and broke off. I decided to give it one more try and order a new Wildside jar instead of spending a lot of money on another blender. Now the jars are not cheap either, so I kept fingers crossed. I have been using the blender with the new jar for a little over 2 weeks now and it is a world of difference as compared with the older version of the jar. Blender works perfectly. Is much quieter than it has ever been and blends absolutely perfectly. Maybe I got a defective one when I bought the whole blender, I will never know. I am just happy to be able to use my Blendtec, and better than before. I do like the new lid design as well. I kept the old lid, just in case, but this seems to work much better and leaks less.

Fits my old Blendtec from a Costco from a bit back
The original one (not from here, the one that came with the blender) had it's o-ring breaking or something since we saw black bits, and decided it was time to get a new jar- we got this one and it fits and works perfectly. The lid is just slightly different since the old one had a sort of cupping lid where it funnels into the hole, where as this one has one that is sort of just a hole and no funnel. That's all that seems different, maybe the plastic feels a bit more durable- but otherwise mostly the same.
