It's always nice to find a universal product that that fits well. This replaced the old fan, it was an easy install, and the fan works well.

Wasn't sure how this was gonna work out? But it actually fit perfectly in my old receptacle I had to modify just a little bit, but after I received this one I bought a second one to replace in case it goes out again. I'll have one in stock if I'm able to find it 5 years from now. Or whenever this one goes out again

So my old fan from the 80's finally gave out not because the mechanism failed, but because I tinkered with it alot. Anyway, finally ordered this again because it seems to closely resemble that old fan I had, came with an aluminum fan. The shaft of this unit is much longer, but I did not have to cut the shaft, I just lowered the aluminum fan because it had a screw that would allow me to lower it down the shaft of the fan. After a few more tinkering, finally got it to work for $30 bux price of the motor. The plastic fan is just not user friendly because it is a chap fan, probably cost 10 cents to make. Hope the quality last as long as the 1980 exhaust fan I had. The label on the old fan shows "BREVEL PRODUCTS"... can't find anything on the web though. This fan have to be properly calibrated so that it does not vibrate inside the exhaust housing. I added some rubber washers around the brace so that ti would prevent extreme vibration. It is still loud, but tolerable. I also added some foam around the cover so that it cushions the vibration. Looks crude but it does the job. Expected it to work out just right. Installed it, good fit. Fan was plastic, and it didn't blow out like that one review, but it was just on there for a few minutes because it was really loud like a helicopter loud. Had t take it off because it was intolerably loud. To show respect to the vendor I gave it 3 stars because I did not want them to lose their business. I care about mom and pop businesses. I am sure it works out great for others, but it was not a good fit for my application. Had to return. Reason for returning was shipping was promised for same day delivery but it came two days later, which I noticed was an Amazon responsibility. Too bad ... cause I was so looking forward to it. If it came same day, I might've had time to make it work, but it was very loud. I could've added some more silencing mechanisms but client said just put back the old one.

Replacing a 20 plus year old exhaust fan in small restroom that was making loud noise as it was showing its age. This universal fan was a great direct replacement. Much more energy efficient and much much quieter. Though this type of fan is not know to be that quiet. Installation was easy as this fan fit the mounting bracket for the original. It helps to review the dimensions provided in the description when ordering as it let me know that this would work for my application. Installed the same day I received and I am very happy with this fan.

I bought this to replace the fan motor in my bathroom exhaust fan. It is a nutone unit that is probably close to 60 yrs old. It was a perfect fit in the mount. My original fan blade was steel, but this one is plastic. It should be fine. It's not whisper quiet, but runs at 3000 rpm so you need to expect a little noise. It runs smoothly. Installing was simple. I'm impressed so far.

Update - I didn't realize how much louder this was than the original. It's powerful for sure. But mind numbing loud. Absolutely perfect replacement for Nutone 686A vent fan. But one star off because it arrived with one mounting screw bent and the fan is slightly larger than the original. So I had to use the original for now to prevent scraping. BUT great power. I'd say it's stronger then the original! Whatever CFM, this one is great! Returned the cheapest one on Amazon and paid more for this one. Worth it!

This fan is great and very strong .Replaced an old one that was super noisy. Had bought another 1 on here and it was very weak and didn't vent air out very well. This one is noticeably stronger and takes less than 5 min to install.

Bought this to fix an old Fasco wall mounted bathroom fan. The old motor just had 686 written on it and nothing else. Supposedly this is a replacement for that model (among others). it did work but there were some minor issues... The motor turns the wrong way for my configuration. I had to take the motor apart to reverse the direction. I found a video online showing how to do this. The fan blades on this unit are flatter than on the old, so I re-used the old fan blade. I didn't think the flatter blades would blow as much air. Finally, the fan shaft is shorter than on the old one. This causes the fan blades to sit farther back from the fan shroud than the old ones did. This motor is smaller/shorter than the old one which also contributed. I think this causes less air flow because of the larger gap around the fan. Probably could have figured out some way to add a spacer to the mounting bracket to close the gap but not sure it would have been worth the effort. It's still better than before because the Fasco motor wouldn't even turn (though it was getting power because I could hear the motor hum and vibrate when plugged in). Overall, very happy with this purchase. Motor replacement was much less work than replacing the whole unit. I probably saved a lot of money too. I shudder when I think about how much a contractor would have charged to install a whole new unit because of the work that would be involved (cutting a new square hole at a minimum).

Worst quality fan. It says universal fan but does not work in many exhausts. We regret buying it. They charge 20% restocking fees and plus we have to pay return shipment cost. Waste of money
