The Kurgo Quantum 6-in-1 leash is one of the most useful dog leashes I’ve owned. It easily converts between different styles — regular leash, shorter training length, over-the-shoulder, and around the waist for true hands-free walking or running. The adjustments are quick and simple with the carabiner system. I especially like the hands-free options. Being able to wear it as a waist belt or over the shoulder makes walks and jogs much more comfortable, and my hands stay free. The padded handle is a nice touch, the reflective trim is helpful in low light, and the nylon feels durable. Overall, a well-designed, practical leash that adapts to different situations. Highly recommend if you want one leash that can do multiple jobs.

I genuinely can’t say enough good things about this leash. It has completely ruined other leashes for me because nothing else even comes close. The design is incredibly well thought out. The loops run the entire length, which makes it unbelievably versatile. With a simple carabiner, you can clip it to itself and instantly turn it into a hands-free shoulder leash, a waist belt for dog walks, or adjust it in countless other ways depending on what you need. It’s also reflective, which gives me extra peace of mind during early morning and evening walks, and the construction is rock solid. It feels incredibly durable without being bulky, and I never question whether it’s going to hold up. This is one of those rare products where you immediately think, “Why isn’t every leash made like this?” It’s worth every single penny, and I honestly don’t see myself ever buying another style of leash again. If this one somehow disappeared tomorrow, I’d order a replacement without thinking twice. Absolutely outstanding.

Ok so this is the first review I’ve felt the need to write in awhile. I’m giving it 4 stars not because it is good, but because you can make it good. With a tiny amount of DIY. Like most of the other reviewers say. The carabiner on the end that connects back to the leash is absolute garbage. In the “no but forreal” kind of way. I honestly can’t believe Kurgo put this out with that trash on it. It straight up isn’t functional with it. Within an hour of receiving I had cut it off with a dremel and gone to the hardware store to purchase a replacement. The good news is.. that works perfectly. The loop that attaches to the carabiner is wide enough that I just popped on a 250lb steel carabiner from Lowe’s. It cost me round about 2$. The best part of this leash over other leashes of this style is the loop system. You can truly do about anything with it. The loops make it so that you can make the leash as long or as short as desired. Which for me is perfect as I have a puppy in training. It’s also much easier to use round the waist because it’s essentially adjustable. Other reviewers have mentioned that it’s not long enough to actually use messenger style (over the shoulder). Which is true..ish. The fact is that there is too many variables. The height of the person. The width of the person. The height of the dog. The amount of acceptable length of lead for your pup. If you are a tall person and a short dog. You’re going to need a leash extension. They could have made it longer and it would have worked for everyone, but it would have become annoyingly long if you were trying to use it as a short leash. I honestly prefer it the length it is for one reason. Using it messenger style I like being able to add a “shock absorbing” leash extension. I don’t like those most of the time but I do when I use it like this. The leash might be a bit on the heavy side for the really tiny pups out there. I have an approximately 8lb CKC Spaniel pup. The pup has no problems with the weight, but the wife thinks it’s heavy? Not sure how that works, but I’m being honest here. The reflective material runs the length of the lead and seems to work just fine. I have no issues with the quality of the fabric or even the hook bit that attaches to my pups collar. It’s just the carabiner on the other end that’s garbage. The last thing I want to mention is the pad that is included for the ‘handle’. I hate it... unless I’m using it messenger style. Then it’s better than not having it. Using it as pictured as the handle part on a normal leash is awkward as all get out. It just bunches up and gets in the way. Why give it four stars if I’m hating on it so much? I honestly like the leash a lot.. the loop system is great. They just dropped the ball on production. If you are willing and able to cut off the carabiner and replace it. I’d say give it a go. If not there are certainly other 6 in1 leashes out there, but for the cost of this leash and a 2$ carabiner this one is still cheaper than most of the others. The pad is a gimmick, but is decent for your shoulder messenger style. If you never plan on using it messenger style just pitch it.

When I go for walks, it is often a chaotic event. I often hike on fairly crowded trails, so I have to have my dog leashed. For that, I used the Flexi retractable leash. For walks around the neighborhood, I'd just use a standard 4- or 6-foot lead. For walks with my infant son, I'd try to hold the 6-foot leash and steer the stroller. If my 40-lb herding dog saw a lizard dart under a shrub, he would lunge at it, and we would swerve (before the mama bears fire up the comment link: I held it loosely enough that it never pulled the stroller handle more than a couple inches before my hand came off the bar along with the leash). And sometimes I bike with my dog to help him get exercise, but I have to leave one hand off the handlebar to hold the leash, because I can't take the swerving risk at high speeds. This makes each of those tasks easier. The dog's end of the leash attaches to the collar's standard metal D-Ring the way most leashes do. It's a very secure sliding clasp that can't come loose. This is where I suspect negative reviews originate - people might be hooking the opposite end (with the carabiner) to the collar. The person-end of the leash has multiple options. You can wrap it around your waist and hook the carabiner to the leash, making it like a belt, with about four feet left over as a lead for your dog. This is great for two reasons - 1, your hands are free, which is great for hiking or pushing strollers. 2, the pull point is lower down on your body, making it much easier to resist the occasional enthusiastic lunge by your dog. You can also just hook the carabiner about 8-12 inches down from the end, making a short loop and creating a pretty standard-looking leash, at about 8 feet long. You also have the ability to wrap it around other things and latch it to itself - think park benches, outdoor cafe chair legs, bike seatposts. This gives you a full 8 feet, so your dog can get up and reposition himself while you help your toddler on the swing, for example. I used to do a similar thing with my standard 6-foot leash, but I had to take the leash off my dog, hold him with one hand, feed the end around the bench and back through the leash handle, and reconnect it. This is so much easier. And if you need to shorten it (which I've done a number of times at outdoor cafes to keep him from wandering over to other tables), it's easy to do just by unclipping the carabiner and moving it to another section along the leash. I honestly can't figure out how this could possibly be a safety concern, unless your dog is strong enough to break the carabiner. And if you're concerned about that, go to an outdoor equipment store and buy a climbing carabiner (like this one Omega Standard Oval Carabiner ) rated to hold a lot more weight. This was one of my best pet-related purchases.

So I've owned this leash for the better part of three years. I recently purchased another because I've been so happy with it. BUT- you have to know how to use it! Although there is a feature to attach the carabiner like clip to the leash's nylon holders, I DO NOT USE IT (very often). I've simply slipped the entire leash through the carabiner clip and it slides along the main stretch of leash. People who are using the nylon loop holders have had it give out, that's why I've don't normally use them. My dog walks in heel very well so the few times I have used them there wasn't a large amount of strain on the nylon or fabric. If you have a dog that pulls I wouldn't use the loop holders and you may want to buy a leash with a D or O ring instead. Yes, there is a sliding shoulder pad that, if you align it correctly, serves its purpose. But, after long wear it will slide up and down out of place and need to be readjusted. Lastly, I've never used the snap function to form a leash like handle. The snaps don't really hold well so I've subtracted that usage from the leash's versatility. HOWEVER- if you use the leash like I've described then you can get a good few years out of it, easily. There will be wear and some of the nylon can become stringy (after a lot of use; My service dog and I used it on a daily basis for many years). But to me, it's a wonderful, useful product, I just wouldn't perhaps use it like originally intended. And, this isn't a leash for pullers or a leash with a 'normal' leash like function. Other than that it's a wonderful product and I've been happy with it. Hope this helps potential buyers. :)

I've had the Quantum leash for six weeks. I purchased it to walk my 65 pound German shepherd on my property. Before I received this product, I had sprained my wrist several times by the dog pulling on a regular leash when she sees something she wants to chase. She had gotten away from me many times; I had to worry for hours whether she would be hit by a car (speed limit 55 mph near my house) or if I would be able to find her first. She loves to chase squirrels or the deer or rabbits who frequent our yard. Since I've been using the Kurgo leash, that I so conveniently attach to my waist, she hasn't gotten away from me. She KNOWS she CAN'T get away from me. I love it because we can run or just go for a leisurely walk. It is the greatest invention; Kurgo has made a very durable and versatile product. I am basically "wearing" my dog. Unless she drags me down the street with her, she has realized that she isn't going anywhere other than beside me while I am wearing the Kurgo. It's hands free. I've never felt freedom like this before while walking my dog. I have the freedom to be in control of the dog. She walks beside me now, or mostly behind me. Without pulling. Before this, I tried every type of collar and leash out there, none of them were right for us. This product is very well made. I absolutely recommend this product.

I'm a fan of Kurgo products and have always appreciated their quality. I purchased this Quantum 6-in-1 specifically for the adjustability and to be able to wear it while I walk/run. The quality lived up to my expectations; the function did not. The metal clasp at the handle end is difficult to attach/detach from the webbing, when it comes time to adjust the length. It's something you'll want to do before attaching to your dog unless you want to be standing on a trail or path for a few minutes fighting with it while your pet is tugging on the other end. For that, I took away a 1/2 star. 6' is the overall length, so the manufacturer pictures of the woman jogging while wearing it over the shoulder is deceptive. She must be no more than 5'5". I'm 5'11", so wearing it "messenger" style prevents my average-height dog's face from being unable to bend enough to reach the ground. That is unless he is completely against my side. If he's further than a foot from my side, the leash is tout. For that I took away another 1/2 star. The useless ness of the padded strap with button is the entire second star. The velcro doesn't size up between the webbing, so it's nearly impossible to get it to lined up and the padding bunches up. The button isn't sturdy enough to keep it closed. This seems like a major design flaw. I finally just took the padded handle off, as it was more of a hassle than not. The only way to attach the strap to myself and still allow my dog to be able to sniff around the ground, is to attach it around my waist. My waist is 30", so even wearing it like this, my dog has to be firmly against my side to be able to bend his neck so his snout can reach the ground. Also, because of the difficulty of adjusting the clasp, it's not easy to attach/remove from my waist. Especially while attached to my dog. Great quality. Poor design. Poor function.

I bought this to be part of a custom set up that I use for hiking. I use it as a cross-body belt which I hook onto two 8 foot beta materiel drag lines that are attached to the dogs. It allows me to be hands free on hikes, to use my trekking poles or take pictures without worrying about dropping the leash. I am a large person and this goes around me with about 2-3 feet to spare. The many anchor points make it easy to not only customize the length around my body or other objects but I can also clip in some extra things like a bear bell and the poop bag carriers. I don't use the padded handle piece. I initially placed it at my shoulder but it didn't stay in place very well so I left it off. So far It has been holding up very well to almost daily use on hikes long and short with two 30 pound dogs attached.

I have one of these for my Siberian Husky and one for my Border Collie. The build quality is great and I love the versatility of being able to latch & configure the leash however you like. However, I don't like that when you attach the clip to the thinner strap as recommended, you end up with a twist in the leash (pictured). I have tried attaching the clip to the thicker strap to avoid this but then the small strap slips through the spring latch so the clip loses its position along the leash and moves freely. I've also found that the padded handle does not stay neatly against the leash for long. I've been able to resolve that by feeding the velcro clasps through the leash loops to hold it in place, no matter how much my dogs pull or move. Still, it's less convenient to do that. It's also necessary to offset the padding because the velcro clasp in the middle of the padding section has a Kurgo label on it which digs into your hand becoming uncomfortable very quickly. I've attached a photo of how I've had to configure it to make it practical. Certainly, not ideal.

Reflecting material started to come of within days of use, many threads of the material are hanging off of the leash, the buckle/ clips breaks open and releases the hand handle…..to secure the clip it has to be replaced with a strong lockable one…..and the soft lining for the hand loop is funny to mount properly……

Cumple con el motivo que me llevó a comprarla, se adapta a distintas formas de uso, lo que me permite pasarlo no solo de forma tradicional si no también con manos libres, esto último era lo que quería y cumple la función. La calidad de los materiales y comodidad son buenas!
