I normally wear a 7 1/4 size hat, what size should I order?

I wear 7/38 and the large is slightly large on me. I would go with the M. It is a beautifully made hat. Fabric is superb.

I wear a size 7 5/8 inch hat size. i’m learning towards a xl but i’m on line between a large and xl. suggestions?????

I'm officially a 7 3/8 and I went with the medium. It fits perfectly. Might have been the slightest bit tight at first, but it's cotton and stretched to "just right." In your case I'd recommend going with the large.
