I like this movie a lot, good movie. I'm glad Amazon gave me a lower price, thank you Amazon, The Amazon company is very nice. Thank you for the DVD.

Excellent acting and a great way to tell a true story

The DVD came in excellent quality, within the expected time frame. The movie, in and of itself, is thrilling, passionate, touching, and smart. If you're looking for a non-Hollywood movie that tells a believable and compelling story, then this is it. I first saw this movie at the International Film Festival in NYC. From there, I learned of this grossly, surprising epidemic of child trafficking. I have since become an advocate against human slavery. This movie is a new favorite. And just like I have my house guests watch this movie, I highly recommend Amazon guests do as well. Trade

we are told that the contemporary society is evolved and Enlightened, religion is the root of all evil, and secular global state will save us all. Watch this move and see what are the consequences of ideas. Cosmic purposeless accident, be it a table or a human can be sold and bought. ...now we're talking. Socially-constructed values anyone, or would you rather have an objective value? In other words, compare a worldview where the value of a human life is a subject to change, due to variations in constantly fluctuating socially-constructed ethics of naturalism to the worldview of theism where humans have an objective value. I think naturalism lose. And where are the Hitchens and Dawkins when they are needed to explain how is 'religion poisons everything, and is a 'root of all evil'? Hmmm. Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace ~(John Lennon - Imagine) I don't want to spoil this movie. It exposes reality of human affairs. The reality of something other than covers of magazines (the human trafficking - i.e. modern day sex slavery). It gives viewer a sense what would a person experience if he/she would be abducted. It also gives an insight of how human trafficking ruins lives of family members too [which should be obvious of course].

Trade is a wonderful and powerful story about the cross-border kidnapping of poor children for the purposes of being sold in contemporary slave auctions within the United States. Unfortunately, this DOES happen with much too much frequency. The GOD'S CHILD Project's "Institute for Trafficked, Exploited & Missing Persons" works hard to educate the public about this, both to stop the children and young adults from being victimized, as well as to encourage people who suspect that this social ill is occurring, and this movie, Trade, is going to help a lot more to learn about the problem. The key point is, if you suspect this happening, please report it today.

Not what I was expecting. After seeing the movie "The Whistleblower" with Rachel Weisz, I thought this would be more in the same line of that film. Yes TRADE deals with the issue of human trafficking but found it a little too "Hollywood" to be dealing properly with such a serious subject. Personal, the comic relief between Kevin Kline and the brother of one of the girl victims weakened the film. Still very difficult to watch because of the theme, this could have been a way better movie. Still enjoyed though.

A dark and brutal movie about the world of sex trafficking. There is no nudity though you briefly see grainy skin in a book of prostitutes a boy shows to a potential customer in Mexico. There's a simulated rape, but again, no nudity. Not close to a NC-17 but a solid R. As the back of the box says, "Disturbing Sexual Material Involving Minors, Violence Including A Rape, Language And Some Drug Content". As the back of the box tells us, 13-year-old Adriana (Paulina Gaitan) is kidnapped by traffickers (while riding her bike). Her troubled, 17-year-old brother Jorge (Cesar Ramos) goes after her and quickly picks up the trail of his sister's kidnappers. He is driven by a zeal to protect his sister's innocence and purity as he tells Ray Sheridan (Kevin Kline), an investigator he meets along his sister's trail. Kline is looking for clues about his own daughter, sold into Mexico by her mother. I think I've only seen Kevin Kline in comedies in the past. He's excellent in those as he is in this drama which contains a few moments of tension-relieving humor between Jorge and Ray. The victims of trafficking are dehumanized and objectified by their victimizers as "goods", a "package ... (worth) fifty thousand bucks", and as "dog(s)" in the movie. A few days before watching this movie I came across the following quote of Pope Francis from a 2010 homily when he was still Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio. The quote is about human trafficking and I think the "city" mentioned is Buenos Aires: "In this city are many human sacrifices that kill the dignity of these men and women, these boys and girls subjected to trafficking and slavery. We cannot stay quiet. This city is full of men and women, boys and girls beaten by the wayside, beaten by the organization or organizations that are corrupting, removing the will, even destroying them with drugs. And they are left lying by the roadside." *********************************************************************Spoiler Alert************************************************************************************* While kidnapped, Adriana makes the following prayer before a San Damiano (St. Francis) crucifix, addressing Veronica (Alicia Bachleda), a young Russian woman also kidnapped (and raped) who jumped from a cliff to her death in despair: "Dear Veronica, I hope you are happy in Heaven. I only ask you one thing...Can you talk to the Virgin Mary...and ask her...if they sell me...Please, to make sure the man who buys me...is kind!" That prayer is answered affirmatively. After Adriana has been rescued, Ray tells Jorge to stay out of trouble in Mexico. But Jorge goes home, searches out the main kidnapper (also the rapist), and stabs him in the back, presumably killing him, leaving him lying in the street. Though one shouldn't commit such an act, can't one understand the temptation of a brother, father, husband, to exact some revenge? Though Adriana wasn't raped in the movie, she was forced to perform oral sex, off camera. Years ago, a young man who my sister briefly dated in high school, had his step-sister shot and killed in a local mall parking lot after she had gotten off work and opened her car door. There was a restraining order against the young man, who had previously dated the young woman he killed. The story was fairly big in the local area. When the killer was was brought into open court, the stepbrother, a talented former high school football player, let out loud words along the lines of "I'll get you, you ****!" Sheriff deputies restrained him before he got to the killer.

This movie was excellent, not only because of the acting, (Kevin Kline in a rare dramatic role), but the awareness it creates about the horror of child sex trafficking that is taking this world by storm. I can't say that I've ever seen or heard much on this subject. I've seen movies about how kidnapping in other countries has become an industry and the kidnappers become millionaires when they're paid the ransoms they demand, but how naive I must have been before I saw Trade. Not only is this happening in other countries, it's happening in our own country. This movie needs to be watched so people will become aware of this unthinkable crime.

.. mehr durch Zufall hörte ich von diesem Film und ging dann, weil ich doch sehr neugierig darauf war, auch ins Kino (leider war er nicht sehr oft vertreten - und lief auch nicht lange). Marco Kreuzpaintner hat sich da ein Thema rausgesucht, das ursprünglich eigentlich nur ein gut recherchierter Zeitungsartikel eines Journalisten war (ich habe ihn online gefunden). Er hat sich mit diesem Film ein wirklich heikles Thema rausgesucht - Mädchen/Kinderhandel und Prostitution in den USA - er setzte es unglaublich feinfühlig um - ohne moralischen Zeigefinger, eher wie einen Tatsachenbericht, es wirkt einfach 'echt'. Und es wird einem durchaus klar, daß dies nicht nur 'dort' so ist. Es wird einem auch gezeigt, wie die Leute die dieses 'Geschäft' betreiben, vorgehen - auch in Osteuropa. Der Film macht betroffen ohne einen verantwortlich zu machen, er zeigt wie roh diese Leute sind, ohne tatsächlich Gewalt oder 'nackte Haut' darzustellen. Man weiß genau was passiert, ohne daß man zuschauen muß. Kurz gesagt, ein Film, der leise aber doch sehr klar eine Botschaft mitbringt .. ich finde ihn einfach genial. Was mir persönlich auch noch gefiel ist die Art und Weise wie mit den Sprachen 'gespielt' wird. So sprich die Polin z.B. auch polnisch (eben mit Untertitel) und es wird dadurch auch klar unterstrichen, daß sie sich in einem für sie fremden Land aufhält, in dem sie die Sprache nicht beherrscht und somit auch nicht für 'voll' genommen wird. Was wiederum bewirkt, daß sie den Zuhältern voll ausgeliefert ist. Dem Ansehen der Polen allgemein sicher zuträglich ist, daß die Polin in diesem Film einen wirklich edlen Charakter hat. Zum Film selbst - es geht um zwei Erzählstränge - eigentlich sind es drei, aber es sind immer zwei die parallel laufen. - Einmal der einer jungen Polin die aus Polen nach Mexiko kommt und denkt sie kommt zu einer Modelagentur in den USA. - Dann der eines mexikanischen Mädchens die am Tag nach ihrem 13. Geburtstag entführt wird und dann mit der Polin und anderen verschleppt wird, - Und schließlich der des Bruders des mexikanischen Mädchens, wie er versucht sie zu finden und zurückzuholen und dabei die Hilfe eines US-amerikanischen Polizisten gewinnt. Marco Kreuzpaintner hat diesen Film in Amerika unter den Fittichen von Roland Emmerich gedreht - der auf ihn aufmerksam wurde, weil er hier zu Lande ein paar Preise gewonnen hatte. Er trägt nicht die Handschrift Emmerichs, aber es war sicher etwas einfacher dort Fuß zu fassen und Qualität produzieren zu können, mit ihm im Hintergrund.

Due to this film being sent directly to DVD release it was not possible to watch it in UK cinemas. However, I was lucky enough to watch it in Berlin and it really left a lasting impression on me. The film is based around sex trafficking and it portrays this very well. It is a shocking film which has plenty of substance to make it engaging yet not too long as to make it boring. I would definitely recommend it.

Thema des Films ist der Handel mit Menschen, die in armen Ländern entführt und als Sexsklaven an wohlhabende Menschenfreunde nach Amerika "geliefert" werden. Die Methodik dieses einträglichen Geschäftes wird ziemlich glaubwürdig gezeigt. Entsprechend verstörend und beklemmend ist die Wirkung des Films. Vor allem der Missbrauch von Kindern ist etwas, bei dem mir persönlich die Galle hochkommt. Das Ende ist angesichts der Thematik relativ versöhnlich, in der Realität dürften solchen Verschleppungen überwiegend weniger glimpflich ausgehen. Zu den Darstellern: Kevin Kline hat mir bereits in "Ein Haus am Meer" sehr gut gefallen und liefert auch hier eine überzeugende Vorstellung als Polizist ab, der aus persönlichen Gründen an der Bekämpfung des Menschenhandels ein starkes Interesse hat. Besonders überzeugend spielt m. E. auch Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, die mir bereits an der Seite von Tom Schilling in "Herz im Kopf" positiv aufgefallen ist. Gut gefallen hat mir auch Cesar Ramos, dessen kleine Schwester Opfer einer Entführung wird, und als Jungfrau den Menschenhändlern einen besonders hohen Preis einbringen soll. Alles in allem ein starker, überzeugender Film ohne wirklich Schwächen über ein Tabu-Thema, das mehr Beachtung verdient hat.

This is a heavy movie but good nun-the less.
