This blanket is a full/queen. I would have preferred it was just for a full size bed. I have a full size bed so the blanket is large for my bed. The quality of the blanket is great and is like the original vellux blanket. It doesn't shed and is very soft. I am enjoying it very much.

I've always liked these Vellux blankets, its look, feel, and most importantly for me it's great for for temperature management in all seasons to sleep. I don't feel too warm or cold. I typically use it a sheet or two like with any blanket or comforter. Blanket was shipped promptly; I ordered it 2 nights ago, and just received it early evening today and it's in my washer and just finishing it's spin cycle:) If you're new to Vellux, prior to washing these blankets they seem to have a strange feel when you first remove them from their packaging and unfold it. But never fear, before using any new bedding of course you want to wash it first. The blanket will come out of the dryer feeling much different, soft and cozy. But you'll soon find they just get more and more cozy with each successive wash. Color doesn't seem to fade at all with these blankets, even after years of ownership.

Vellux blankets are fantastic! My wife and I first encountered Vellux blankets years ago when celebrating our anniversary getaway at an upscale 5-star hotel. We were impressed with the softness, light weight, and comfort of this amazing blanket fabric. After our hotel stay, we purchased Vellux blankets for our own home and have been happily using them exclusively for decades. These outstanding blankets are an absolute joy to use and are super easy to care for. Currently, there are several different versions of Vellux blankets. We've tried a couple of their newer styles, but still prefer the original one. It is suggested to wash these before sleeping on them. Ironically, this blanket actually improves its texture and softness every time it is washed. There is zero fraying, fuzzing or pilling like most other fabrics and the color never fades. Typically, we get years of use out of our original version Vellux blankets. This product is a genuine winner and will very likely put a smile on your face too. Highly recommended.

I needed new bedding for our new king-size bed (upgraded from queen) and was very excited to find a Vellux blanket at a good price. In my experience, these are nice warm blankets and great quality. Wisconsin winters mean warmth is top priority in a blanket, not softness. I personally like a blanket with a little weight to it, but apparently that is contrary to the norm, as all the blankets seem to be advertised to be lightweight. By the time I make my bed, though, with sheets, two blankets, and a quilt, I have a bit of weight to make me comfortable, but not so much that my husband is uncomfortable. So there is one problem with this blanket, and it is very specific to a very specific kind of person. My husband has a strong aversion to cotton balls and anything with a similar texture. I have learned that this is not as rare a phobia as one might think. Fleece is always risky with him. Some fleece is soft enough that he never bats an eye, and some fleece has a texture that causes him to avoid it. And then there's this fleece. When I pulled the blanket out of the package, I immediately noted that it was an unusual texture, but I suspect it will soften with washing. However, we needed to get the bed made right then with no time for washing. When I started to unfold the blanket, I noticed how the fleece sticks to itself, almost like velcro, and even made a sound similar to what you hear when pulling velcro apart. When I finally had enough unstuck to toss to my husband (he was helping me make the bed), he grabbed it and immediately dropped it like it was a hot coal. The only way he could bring himself to touch that blanket was with gloves on. It probably sounds silly to some people, but if you or someone you know shares this aversion to cotton balls, you will completely understand what a big deal this is. I got lucky that this blanket is well-sandwiched between the sheet and a soft blanket, so once the bed is made, there is no reason for him to touch it. And I am hopeful that a wash or two will soften it enough to allow him to touch it without panic. For now, though, I am praying that the velcro quality of this blanket will keep it stuck to the other blanket well enough that it won't accidentally touch him in the middle of the night. Basics: Blanket is warm, fits bed okay - not nearly as much drape on sides as I would like, only about 4-5" on each side, and the length is such that there isn't a great amount to tuck in, so hopefully the top blanket (longer) will keep it tucked. Texture of blanket is unusual, definite concern for people who have aversion to cotton or other textural issues.

This Vellux Original blanket is the same model that I remember using in my youth. I still love the softness and subtle structure of the blanket. It is lightweight and provides a medium amount of warmth. I use it layered between my bedspread and top sheet.

I never had liked the Vellux blankets because I did not find them very conforming. That being said, I found this blanket to be very comfortable and plush. initial washing went well - no deterioration, shredding or damage.

i'm compelled to write my first review in my more-than-a-decade on amazon. this blanket (in its current version) is truly awful. i've loved the vellux brand my whole life. i had my last (good) vellux blanket since the 90s and only got rid of it as a result of an unfortunate dog-and-skunk incident. the martex label (currently owned by 'westpoint home') is now made in china (despite westpoint's claims and according to the tag on the blanket itself). it's significantly thinner than its older, american counterpart. that spongy foam feeling that the old blankets had? gone. worse yet is the smell. the new blankets reek of formaldehyde. the smell does *not* wash out -- which is curious because the *entire rest of the blanket* did. a single laundering was enough to destroy the new martex vellux blanket. what happens is that the nylon flocking comes completely undone from the paper-thin foam core in little, smelly fabric pills that get all over the washer. the remainder of the blanket pills up and falls off in the (no heat!) dry cycle. all that was left of my first westpoint martex vellux blanket (moss green, if it matters) was the flimsy grid and a few bits of formaldehyde-smelling nylon. because i have so greatly loved this product in the past, and because this particular blanket was so easily and weirdly destroyed, i re-ordered it -- a replacement for my replacement. i counted on this whole situation as having been just an awful fluke. nope. westpoint martex vellux blanket #2 fared no better. in fact, westpoint martex vellux blanket #2 broke my dryer. maybe i'm a chump, but it's only because i am so very loyal to the blanket of my youth (and twenties). i'd even be willing to try a vellux blanket again someday, so long as it's not westpoint's mertex vellux (manufactured in china). a complete disappointment.

I always equate Vellux blankets with warmth and cosiness, without the bulk and heaviness of regular blankets. They work better between layers, ie your top sheet, and your bedspread. During our Australian Winter, in my part of Sth Australia, that's all I need as my Winter bedding, if it does warrant it, I just add another Vellux. Soo light, but sooo warm, I absolutely love them. I've actually got them on every bed in the house. Comfort and warmth without being weighed down. Love it

I love this blanket, it's as warm as thick duvet without the weight. 100% recommend it.
