EKO Mirage-T 50 Liter / 13.2 Gallon Touchless Rectangular Motion Sensor Trash Can or Recycling Bin, Brushed Stainless Steel Finish

I absolutely love this trash can! The hidden bag holder is one of my favorite features—it keeps the trash bag tucked neatly out of sight, giving it a much cleaner, more modern look. The battery life has been great so far, it's easy to wipe down, and the size is perfect for smaller spaces while still holding a surprising amount of trash. The odor control is also impressive... almost too impressive! There have been a couple of times I've tossed something particularly smelly, told myself I'd take the trash out later, then completely forgotten. The next time I opened the lid, all those trapped odors hit me at once because the seal had done such a good job of keeping them contained. Overall, it's clean-looking, easy to use, and does exactly what I wanted. I'd definitely buy it again.

We have owned a prior model from this same brand, and the lid was defective and recalled. The company at that time wasn't great about honoring the recall, either. We're taking a chance on this company again and hoping they've made some improvements. We haven't used it much yet, but so far, it's what you would expect. The lid responds to a swipe above the sensor. It closes a few seconds later. If you want to keep it open for a while, there's an open button that will hold it open for 20 minutes, which is helpful if you are cleaning or doing food prep and don't want to deal with the lid during that time. And there's a close button if you want to close it. A power switch is on the back, and the lid takes 4 AA batteries. This did come with a small supply of their branded bags, which is nice for getting started, but any kitchen sized bag will do. There is no bin within the bin, as was the case with our prior model, so you're just stuffing a bag into the shell of the can. My wife hated the bin within the bin, so she prefers this current setup. There's also a bag clip to hold the bag in place, but it is kinda cumbersome to use and I do not think we'll be using it. All in all, they've made some improvements. The lid mechanism seems quieter and even a bit faster/smoother than our previous model but that could easily just be a first impression on a brand-new unit. The stainless look is very nice. I do wish the mouth of the lid was more open so less garbage comes into contact with it to make cleaning easier. Time will tell if this starts eating batteries like our last one from this company did, or if the lid dies altogether and requires replacement. I do see that a couple of different replacement lids are available--either the exact lid this comes with, or the deluxe model's lid; both will apparently work on this can. I have ordered the deluxe lid just to have a second lid, because I remember all too well what happened with our last one. And a replacement lid is certainly less expensive than an entirely new can. So, fingers crossed. Giving 5 stars for now because it's doing everything it's supposed to. All in all, I would recommend this. It seems improved overall, even with a couple of the improvements which seem unnecessary.

Wishes: Would be nice if it was a few inches taller to make up for the smaller base perimeter, but the size difference is not a huge issue. Lack of a separate inner can makes it a little harder to get a stuffed full bag out of the can We bought this because our stainless steel step can was a little too wide to fit in the space where it works best in our kitchen. The color is perfect with our stainless appliances. If it was about 3 inches taller, the size would be perfect but it's still really good. Not a dealbreaker at all. We pull the bag out and empty our smaller cans from around the house into it, clean science projects out the frig, and take out a full bag. This can has a plastic ring to hold the bag in place instead of a full inner plastic can. It works well; the bag never slips. You can wrap the top of the bag around the ring before you put the the ring onto the rim of the can and it will hide the edges of your bag from view. Or you can wrap the bag around the rim of the can and set the ring down on top, which is little simpler but a few inches of the top of the bag will be visible. Our old step can had a full plastic inner can with air holes in the sides so that it hid the bag edge, and when the bag is very full we could still pull it out of the can easily by pulling the whole plastic inner can out. This one will form a suction between the bag and can if the bag is stuffed too full because the stainless steel exterior isn't as flexible as plastic. If you stuff it too full you can rip the bag trying to pull it out. You just have to pull it out slowly and gently, or not stuff it down so that the bag is super full when you pull it out. Not a big deal to us, just something to know. The batteries have lasted two and a half months and no sign they're dying. We use store brand batteries. We thought we might use rechargeable batteries for this, but don't think that will be required. The motion detector works really well, even in the pitch dark. You just have to get used to making a slight motion over the electronic eye as you walk up to the can. It's a small subtle motion that becomes habit pretty quickly. The sensitivity is good. It continues to detect motion as you interact with it so if you stand there and feed things in it doesn't close on you. Also, if you touch the word Open on sensor area it stays open until touch the word Close. It's easy to keep clean. Our old one had a hinge setup on the inside that trapped bits of trash and it was hard to clean that without taking it outside and hosing it down. This one is easy to keep clean in the areas above/around the bag. Overall we highly recommend this trash can. It was not dirt cheap, but the price is reasonable considering the quality.

Sometimes it’s a bit too eager to open. Just walking by it can trigger the lid to pop up, as if it’s expecting you to feed it constantly. It’s like having an overly friendly dog that jumps up to greet you every time you pass through the kitchen. I’ve learned to dodge it like I’m in a game of kitchen hopscotch. The capacity is perfect for a couple days worth of trash without constantly having to change bags. It’s a generous 50 liters, and I’ve noticed it holds its own when it comes to odors, too. No funky smells leaking out, which is a huge win. Overall, it’s almost too fancy for my trashy lifestyle (pun intended). While the motion sensor can be a bit overenthusiastic at times, it’s nothing a strategic placement won’t fix. You know you're an adult when you get excited about a new trash can. This is sleek and appears pretty compact for a 13-gallon (or 50-liter) trash bin. The quality is excellent. I love that this has an On/Off switch in the back, especially if you have kids or pets that like to stick their paws in the trash when you're not looking. This trash can comes with what may appear to be a random inner ring – surprise, it's not random! This is here for you to hide yo' trash bag so it doesn't stick out the sides when the lid is on. This makes the trash can look much nicer and neater, you know, for a trash can. Plus, I think it holds the trash bag in place more securely. I've not had an issue with the bag slipping off the ring. I personally love a sensor lid because it makes opening the trash can a breeze in a pinch. A big HOWEVER for those of you that need to know this: the sensor is really sensitive and does not close based on time alone. If your trash can is located under a countertop or in a pull-out cabinet, you may find that the lid will not close because the sensor is constantly being activated by the material above it. I realized this after I placed this bin under the side of my kitchen island that has a roughly 12" overhang – the bin would not close and the lights remained on. After I pulled the trash can out a bit so the sensor was not beneath the counter, it began working as expected. Thankfully for me, this does not put the trash in an inconvenient location, but this may be a deterrent for some. This takes 4 AA batteries, which are nicely located in a secure battery compartment underneath the back. My previous sensor trash can took DD batteries that were placed directly in the back, and they loosened up over time and impacted the response time, so I appreciate the placement of this battery compartment. Overall, I'm very happy with my new trash can!

I had another brand of touchless trash can for about 5-6 years, and I thought it was just fine. Now that I have had this one for a few weeks, I can't say enough about it. First, it is so quiet. The battery compartment is easy to open, and the lid is structured in such a way that if there is a reason to clean the inside, it has no nooks and crannies to make it hard. The sensor is great. You can walk past the can and it won't open until you wave your hand across the top of it. No more uncalled for opening and closing. Finally they give you some complimentary trash bags. They are sturdy and terrific.

I’m still disappointed with this touchless trash can even though I purchased it about a year ago. The entire reason I chose it was for the motion-sensor lid, and that feature stopped working within only a month or two. I’ve tried replacing the batteries multiple times, including using completely new batteries, and the lid simply will not turn on or respond at all. Nothing happened to it that would explain why it suddenly failed. Since then, I’ve had to open and close it manually, which completely defeats the purpose of buying a touchless trash can. By the time I was dealing with the issue, the return period had passed, and I wasn’t able to get any assistance from the company with troubleshooting or figuring out what went wrong. That made the experience even more frustrating because this wasn’t a minor feature that failed. It was the main function of the product. The actual trash can itself is nice. I like the rectangular shape, size, and overall appearance, and I probably would have been happy with it if the sensor had continued working. Unfortunately, a touchless trash can that has to be manually opened after only a couple months isn’t what I paid for. Pros: * Nice rectangular design * Good size * Trash can itself is functional * Attractive appearance Cons: * Motion sensor failed within 1–2 months * Completely unresponsive even with brand-new batteries * Now has to be opened manually * Unable to get troubleshooting assistance * Main advertised feature didn’t last * Poor long-term reliability * Waste of money for me Overall: I can’t recommend this based on my experience. I paid for a motion-sensor trash can, and within a couple of months, I essentially had a regular trash can with a lid I have to manually operate. A year later, it still doesn’t work. I’m extremely disappointed with the durability and lack of support, and I wouldn’t purchase from this brand again.

I do not recommend it. There are constant issues with opening and closing. I tried changing the batteries, but it still glitches very often.

Dit is best wel een aardige afvalbak, maar met een aantal problemen. 1. Je moet je hand bewegen voor de sensor op een afstand van 1 cm. Dus de sensor is vrij ongevoelig en dat is bijzonder lastig. 2. Het batterijvak is slecht afgesloten. Bij vocht in de afvalbak verzamelt zich in het batterijvak condens en dat leidt toe dat de batterijen gaan lekken en snel leeglopen.

I had bought this around 2 months ago. It is going very strong, i love the option to leave it open by pressing the "open" button instead of the constant 5 second open timer on some automatic sensor bins. Nothing wrong with it, it is definetly fingerprint proof, looks brand new still. Maybe one small minor issue would be the sensor distance, you ahve to get quite close to the sensor for it to activate but in saying that, it also means that it won't activate when you walk past it, a give and take. Overall great product i doubt there is a better sensor bin out there for this value to quality ratio.
