Can you turn this on its side and use 'fridge style'?

No. You can switch the lid to open the opposite direction, but it must be sit like a cooler. Worth every penny.

Can i use an ac or a dc power the portable refrigerator?

Comes with a 110 plug and also a 12 volt plug in

Error code 1 i need a manual please why is this impossible to talk to someone about this product who knows anything how do you adjust battery settings

The Er 1 means that the input voltage is too low. You may have to put the battery protection at low. You could turn off the battery protection then the fridge could work much longer (press and hold SET button, select F5 code, then press + or - button to turn off the battery protection) without the ER1 issue.
